I'm not doing a lot today except for the basics.

Darren had his dr appt for his allergies. Nurse wanted to know if we picked up the rx, we both laughed then explained to her it costs over $300 a month for the pills. She said ah, so you'll be discussing alternatives with the dr today, lol. Dr came in the room and said that was a car payment, so yeah, he'll be doing allergy shots. Sucks because he'll have to go to town once a week for them, they sometimes hurt, and when it gets to the point he's getting more of the allergens (they start with a small dose and increase over time) he gets the bad reaction around the injection sites that's uncomfortable. On the plus side, last time he was on allergy shots, it costs us under $30 a month for them.

Since we were in town, we went to Walmart and picked up a few things we need for our vacation at the end of the month (like toothbrushes we can throw away at the end of the week and a smaller bottle of mouthwash.) We stopped at the tea shop for breakfast and then stopped at Costco for some fresh fruits and veggies.

Now, I'm just enjoying a quiet day. Mid 80's and no wind so I have doors and windows open, it's pretty nice.

I can't believe those pills are so expensive versus the shots, it just makes no sense!

Enjoy the day, LOL, I have my doors and windows open too.

Yeah, it's nuts. Dr said they, and we, could try to fight the insurance company, but it'd take time and we'd be lucky to have them cover an additional $40 in the end. Not really worth it since the shots are an option. He's still concerned that Darren will have a tougher time with the shots during peak allergy times, but we'll keep an eye on it.

How's the aftershocks, Dipo? And really glad your balcony held!

Hahahaha, I didn't really think the balcony would fall but I just thought of all those balconies that have come down in SF. Plus I have usually been in bed when they hit, so it was more pronounced... I was just sitting there totally engrossed in my "MURDER" book, enjoying the cool air.

When the second one hit I was in bed and it didn't really seem like it moved much.

Thursday's Mission

I'm sorry, but I'm actually giggling imagining it, Dipo, lol. I've been there, so engrossed in a book that I'm not noticing anything at all outside of the book, and can just imagine how badly it'd scare the crap out of me (especially if it's a spooky book) to have an earthquake hit at that point.

Plans for tomorrow, just housework. Maybe a load of laundry. I want to give the dogs baths but that may wait til Friday.

Hahahahaha, I totally get that, it might not have been as scary if I was reading something else.

Haven't done much today, I did do some stuff last night out on the balcony, made and filled the hummingbird feeder and I am thinking about possibly running the dishwasher tonight.

For the most part I have been having a "sick" day, LOL.

Friday's Mission
http://www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=420&d=1

I cleaned up the kitchen by getting the dishwasher loaded, then wiped down the stove and some for the fridge shelves.

All kinds of stuff I could do today, we shall see what I get around to doing. I was up really late last night so getting a late start.

So I did remember to run the dishwasher and got it unloaded this morning. It feels like a rainy wintry day so I have been procrastinating on chores.

We started with a really nice fall day. The wind kicked up about an hour ago and it's gotten much cooler.

We had high wind Thursday and omg, the mess. I spent a great deal of time the last two days cleaning up...there was dirt everywhere. All the floors needed down, everything in the house needed dusted and wiped down, the porch and patios needed swept. So, of course, now more wind, lol.

My father in law and his wife stopped by today. They were heading home from vacation and we're kinda on the way. It was nice to see them. When they left we headed over to the park, Cal City has an annual Renaissance Faire and that's this weekend. It was nice, small, but for a small community event it was fun.

Not much else planned for the rest of the weekend. Darren's been feeling like crap (he ended up taking off Thursday and we were back at the drs office, where he got several more prescriptions...it's just his allergies working overtime and he caught it before it became a sinus infection.)

I pruned my one jade plant and sort of made another, we shall see if it grows, it looks sort of ugly right now.

Yep, allergies are up! I have noticed a few problems myself but nothing like what Darren has to deal with.

Oh, and I watered some plants and gave the kitties a fresh bucket of water. No matter how many bowls of water I put out they prefer the bucket of bathtub water, LOL.

Oh, I forgot, I swept the leaves off the balcony. I think we are now into a daily chore for them.

Well, we figure the dr (allergy dr) was right...between the wind, crap already in the air, and then the allergy shots Wednesday he was getting a double dose of allergens. I'm not sure if he actually expected it to happen now instead of next spring. We didn't see him Thursday (he's only in on Wednesday's) so we'll see what he has to say next week when Darren goes for his shots. He could make some adjustments to the allergy shots, or to the rx's and otc's.

The dr (the allergy dr who has been the kids dr since they were babies) said this year has been really bad for allergies. I know mine have been worse and I don't have them anywhere close to as bad as Darren does. Heh, I've had to put a box of kleenex on my end table and most the time it's not for my nose, but my eyes that just pour tears.

OMG, plants, sigh. I have two lucky bamboo plants. One of them I've had, dang like 12 years. It was tiny when I got it, now it's huge. I did so well with it, that Darren bought me another one a few years ago that has also done pretty well. Up until this summer. Normally they sit in the kitchen window, but with summer and fall and wanting to open that window, I moved them to the living room window. Big mistake...not sure if it's that that window gets more sun or it's just hotter or what, but I'm pretty sure I fried my big bamboo. The smaller one seems to be better. I've been cutting back leaves for about a week trying to save it, not sure I'm going to be able to. Reading online, I'm seeing that there is food for it (which I've never used, my whole approach to them has to been make sure they have enough water and leave them be, lol,) so I'm going to check Ace and see if they have some.
