Went to make coffee and couldn't take it anymore...I unloaded the dishwasher, LOL.

Of course I reloaded it, cleaned my sink and wiped down the counters.

Got 6 crossword puzzles done, unpacked my Chewy box and did a safeway order.

Also gathered up a bunch of stuff I want to get rid of but am waiting to see my sister first, so at least it is together.

Friday's Mission

Hmm, I should check and see how many dish sponges I have. I buy them at Costco (18 pack if I remember right) and never pay attention to how many I have until I realize I've run out, lol.

Basic housework today. Little picking up, cleaned the kitchen, did a little laundry. Balanced the checkbook and paid bills. Not much else. Darren didn't get home til after 7 (13 hour day, hasn't been one day this week under 12 for him, sigh) and I knew I only had a couple hours to spend with him before he went to bed.

Tomorrow's plans are grocery shopping. My pantry is pretty empty, my fridge is pretty empty, freezer isn't quite as empty.

Since I now have an expired drivers license (omg, sent the check the same time I sent Darren's, he got his new license last week, meanwhile DMV hasn't even cashed the check for mine! and now I know I'm going to get stuck going over there dammit) I have to wait for someone to be available to take me places. Not that I really drive that much, but still I'd like to be able to go grocery shopping without needing a ride! Anyway, I'm hoping to do the shopping tomorrow but it will depend on if Kota's up for a full trip (or if I can talk Caleb into going) or I will be doing just enough to get us through a couple days.

Other than that, I don't really have plans for tomorrow.

I just have my list to work on. I put the newly washed and line dried rug back into the closet, it looks great.

I need to do some spider-web patrol, I was noticing a bunch in my bedroom so I am sure there are some in the living room as well.

And so funny you should mention Costco, I need to order some more TP... down to the last 4 rolls from my purchase last September!

Wargod, did you get the new "Real ID" license? I thought you had to go into the office for that one. I need to do some research. I don't think I need one of those ID's but mine is expiring in September and I hear that appointments are about 4 weeks out.

No, I didn't (neither did Darren.) You do have to go to the DMV to get the Real ID. You can get it now, but you don't have to have one til 2020. We talked about it when I was writing the checks and filling out the little slip they send, but neither of us wanted to go to the DMV, LOL. I'm not all that sure I need one in the near future...I haven't been on a plane in years don't see that changing anytime soon and have no reason to be on a military base. Darren will eventually need it since he flies for work.

We used to have an office in Lancaster and Palmdale, but last year they closed both those and opened one big office. From what I hear, the place is absolutely insane now and it was bad before when we had two offices. My niece had an appt and set there for 4 hours, Caleb had one and was there 3 and a half.

LOL, I forgot once my downstairs neighbors were gone I had planned to clean my front porch. So I just did that...swept it and then washed it down with a bucket of shower water and a brush. Actually what I was washing was the black wrought iron railing. It was all dusty and had bird poop and cobwebs all over it.

So it will look better even if it isn't totally clean and all the evidence of water (they complained about water dripping down a few years ago, so now I do that stuff when they aren't home, LOL) will have dried up by the time they get home.

Oh, Wargod that is good to know. I am the same way, do not see any need in the future to board a plane. I have heard of 3-4 hour waits even with an appointment.

Actually, last year up here our DOL discouraged Kid Sis (there in person) from going for the RealID and paying IIRC an extra $100. Kid Sis already has a passport good for 10yrs due to a couple of cruises to Alaska and can easily carry with. Better to invest/renew in a 10yr passport the lady said, vs $100 spent on a 6yr license. Makes sense.

Me, I will never be in a position to fly again (bad legs and all) so WA State let me renew by mail last month (thankfully they upped from 4yr to 6yr renewal). They have closed so many DMV locations, this on-line/mail renewal saves the state money so a WIN-WIN. Got my new license in 1-1/2 wks, and the old photo still looks like me!

I didn't even check the price difference, ouch, $100? I just saw no point for me to have it now, maybe at some point if we're planning vacation somewhere we can't drive? Darren will have to eventually and I'm guessing my bil since his company sometimes takes contracts on base.

I'm not even sure what the difference is between the regular license and Real ID. I mean to get a license, you already have to show your birth certificate (and word of warning, DMV won't take a military birth certificate, has to be state...I was born on Camp Pendleton and have one of each and they want nothing to do with the military one which makes no sense to me,) social security card and do finger prints. What the heck else do they want?

Anyway, checked a while ago and DMV finally took money out of my bank account so hopefully I'll be getting my license soon. Only took a month!

Ok, I just checked my passport is good until 2022.

Apparently there is some questionairre that you have to complete and people end up screwed and have to start in line all over because they didn't notice the question on the back of the form!

I can't imagine what these "important" questions must be that they don't already know.

Up here in WA, we have always tested and licensed illegal immigrants along with New Mexico State IIRC. Always made sense safety wise so that we could insure that all drivers knew how to drive properly after being tested.

We've been given exemptions before but now it's going into full effect. So I believe this is to provide IDs that separate the two groups, some people like me mainly use it for ID.

I might add that we had a horrendous & tragic scandal as a result of those immigrant licenses, resulting in the firing/resignation of the DOV chief and other administrators.

Even though our Governor instructed ALL departments to not cooperate with ICE, unless there was a criminal warrant, DOV was behind the scenes blithely handing over the names and addresses of license holders that were born outside the US or submitting foreign identity documents. Just upon email request, no real warrants. Easy pickings!

So, ICE deported about 900 people (about 100 requests per month) until the Seattle Times ran a front page blistering article. People and the Gov were pi$$ed and they immediately stopped the process. Sure doesn't help those 900 families torn apart and now the immigrant community is afraid to renew or obtain licenses. Sickening!

Wow, Biscottiii, that is awful. Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with people.

I did a few things yesterday, I think I need to run the dishwasher today, will go and check that out.

I finished up all my crossword puzzles so I am now up to date on that, yeah.

Not much on my plans for the day, altho I think it is going to be hot Monday and Tuesday so I might need to rethink my plans.

Monday's Mission

If Kota feels like it when she gets off work, I need to finish the grocery shopping at Costco. I can put it off a day or two, but not much longer cuz I'll be out of a few things if I do.

I finished the laundry and basic housework this weekend, not sure what else I'll do. Temps are back over 100 this week, so probably won't be anything too extensive.

So far this morning I have recharged 3 different devices, got through the paper and I just finished putting lye down my bathtub drain.

This lead me to pull stuff out of the shelf under the sink and I am going to reorganize it. The lye creeps me out, LOL.... even tho I wore rubber gloves and was very careful, washed my hand and gloves thoroughly, I am still afraid to touch my face/hair. It's so funny because I know I am safe but that stuff is scarey.

I have some drano too, so I was thinking I could put it and the lye back in the corner, it was in a place where the cats could have sniffed it, they didn't but it occurred to me.

Once that is done I will clean the rest of the bathroom and put some vinegar up on the showerhead. Just waiting for the 1/2 hour the lye gets.

I think tomorrow will be hotter but the worst is supposed to be Wednesday.

Oh and I need to research and find out what I can use to clean my fridge. I wipe it down all the time but it seems like I should spray it with something because I know the germy hands that are touching it, LOL.

I was thinking of Windex but want to make sure that won't hurt the finish.

The tub is running great! Got the lye and drano sort of blocked off under the sink so no kitties will every sniff them. Also cleaned the shelf...all this time I thought the stains were rust and they came right up.

Took all the sun screens and put them into a basket and put them out on the balcony so they will be used, LOL. BTW, I wonder how effective they are when expired, I will have to look into that.

Also I noticed my rubbing alcohol, of which I somehow have 2 bottles, one has an expiration date, the other doesn't. So I figure expired alcohol is probably better than having none. I never use this stuff but you are supposed to have it around.

Washed out the bin that holds all that stuff, waiting for it to dry so I can put everything away.

Kota worked 10.5 hours today and Caleb is busy, so Costco will have to wait til tomorrow. I can make it another day or two before I run out of the usual fresh fruits and veggies.

There is some reason you are not supposed to use sunscreen after the expiration date, but I don't remember what it was (if it decreases the effect or just flat out doesn't work.) While I buy a ton of it, it doesn't last long enough in my house to expire, lol. As a fair skinned, freckled, red head, I lecture my kids, nieces and nephews, and the kids friends on the benefits of always using sunscreen. Since I'm probably more at risk than most people, I tend to be quite passionate about the subject and come armed for my lectures with links to studies and articles about it, lol.

Can you get what you need online? I just did a Costco order for TP and Vitamins. Of course if you are getting groceries you will have to go there, LOL.

I got everything back under the sink, so I have made some progress in the bathroom but I don't seem to be moving to fast on all these chores.

I am never really out in the sun, even when I am on the balcony I use the umbrella to screen me, but I have a few times when it hits parts of me, so I could use it then.

I will look on google.

Even on days I plan on being home and maybe going to check mail or out on the back patio or if I have a quick trip to the store planned, I put sunscreen on. It's a lower spf, but I use it. Any time I plan on being out longer, I break out the higher spf stuff. I'm trying to make up for all those years when I was a kid that we didn't know, or at least talk about, the risks of sun damage. Plus, sunburns are just miserable!

Yeah, most of what I need is fresh fruits and veggies. I go through a ton of those because not only do we eat it at home, but I give Darren and Kota two different raw veggies (today was a side salad and cucumber slices) and two fruits (mango and chunks of watermelon) each day and I have to have a variety so they don't get bored. With them working 10-13 hour days, I try to load them up with healthy snacks so they aren't hitting up the vending machine and food truck.

If you haven't noticed, I'm at the store at least once a week, if not twice, for fruits and veggies, lol! And it doesn't help that Kota is super picky...she doesn't like apples or oranges and she won't eat bananas because her boyfriends allergic to them and she's worried she might kiss him and cause an allergic reaction. The only way she'll eat carrots is if I cut them into small sticks, won't touch celery or cauliflower or green onions, but loves broccoli and radishes. Making lunches is an ordeal around here.

Have you looked into the "farm fresh produce" delivery? I don't know if you have it down there but I get emails from them. Might be helpful, altho I don't know the prices.

I got the trash, newspapers/kitty poop, recycling and boxes down to the bins and then picked up the mail.

Received my renewal for DMV! YEAH, and my new BofA card. I will deal with those tomorrow.

Done for the day.

It's too hot to go to Costco and Kota only worked 8 hours today because she had a headache. I can count the number of times she's only worked 8 hours on a M-F on two fingers since she started working, so I know she's feeling pretty lousy. I could ask Caleb, but again, it's too hot and he got up at 4am to drop mom off at the metro link station, she has a friend having surgery down below and wanted to be there.

I need to clean the kitchen today. I may straighten up the dining room.

LOL but their parking lot is huge and always full. Walking to/from your car is miserable. And saying that, I have to give Costco props...while they have to send the cart round up people out to the parking lot, when it gets hot like this, they set a time limit. They go out for a while, gather the carts, and then have to go in for a while to cool down. That was one thing Darren always liked about working for them, they care about their employees.

Yeah, Costco started out up here in WA and they have ALWAYS treated their employees fairly! Unlike Sam's Club which no longer operates here in WA, Costco pays higher wages and benefits & always has.

So I'm not surprised to hear they let their workers cool off in hot weather. Nice!

Wednesday's Mission

Lesson of the day...if you have flash lights and led candles for emergencies (or just because) when you're without power, make sure you have all the different sizes of batteries for your flash lights and led lights.

Power went off tonight. I grabbed the flash light out of the kitchen drawer. Then sent Caleb and my little niece upstairs to get the smaller flash lights (each of the kids have one in their rooms, plus I keep two at the top of the stairs in case of earthquake in the middle of the night and no power so no one falls down the dark stairs) and led candles and Darren out to the cars to get the heavy duty flash lights. Meanwhile I rounded up the candles and battery powered light strands from downstairs. Only about half of them had working batteries...and I found out I only had AAA batteries, no AA or the smaller round ones for the tea lights. So, I need to stock up on batteries!

Lasted about an hour and a half, and we were lucky cuz a different part of the city had an outage earlier and they were without power for several hours. Darren and Kota were both ticked cuz it got pretty loud with people outside have a great time. Don't really blame them, they have to be up at 330 and 430 and it sucks when people are yelling and screaming and laughing at 11pm.

Anyway, tomorrows plans, not sure yet. Might do the store, might put it off another day. Probably do a quick clean and dust on the living room. Other than that, I don't really have much to do.
