Life was not kind to women in those days. Two episodes left. For the story, they can't really take them away from the Frasers and MacKenzies, so it's hard to know how it can resolve. And Simon Frasier is going to want the baby while he thinks it's his, or want to kill Julia when he finds out it isn't.

Boo! There was no new episode last night. IMDB.com says it will air Oct. 10, next week.

It was good. Does anyone know when Season 2 starts? All I've seen is ads for the final season of Outlander season 8 starting in early 2026.

I don't think they've said yet, but they are filming at least episode seven, maybe a later one now, so I'd hope it was early 2026. I really enjoyed the finale, but was rather frustrated by the ending cut off!

Spoiler alert, I'm going to talk about this week's finale.... It looked like Julia grabbed the baby, and she and Henry and the baby were all going to step through at once. But they just worked out that it made sense for one of them to go through with the baby, in case the baby couldn't go through... so obviously (surely!) as the men would have killed Henry, he should have gone by himself with the baby. But it looked like they were going to go through together. Also... no gemstones! And it would be quite a leap to realise that was what the toll was, and actually we never did see what Henry's toll was, maybe he lost a gem too, and that's how they will work it out.

I enjoyed BOMB, and kept trying to match it up with Outlander, then read that DG had nothing to do with the writing of BOMB, and it should be considered completely separate from Outlander, just a “what if” kind of story that is fanciful to imagine. I am still anxious to see what happens in season two, and trying to separate it in my mind from the upcoming season of Outlander.

I racked my brains when watching the premiere last night about how Bree and Roger got out of that cliffhanger at the stones they were in when we last saw them. I couldn't work out what I'd missed... I came to this thread to ask, and of course reading up a few posts I see the talk about the spin-off, and that's what I was remembering, it was Julia and Henry at the stones, not Bree and Roger! Although having said that, I can't remember how Bree and Roger's time in the past (and the future) did resolve. Well the premiere, they seem to have confirmed - at least enough to their liking - that Faith was the two girls' mother, and that she died (even though no body, so you never know!). And Mrs Cunningham looks like she's going to be trouble.

If Faith WAS Jane & Frances's mother, then ewwwwwww....William slept with his niece! **shudder** Bree & Roger just went from 1739 (where Bree went back to Roger & Buck who had gone to the wrong year when looking for Jemmy) to 1776-ish to go "home." Based on the books Bree had, I think we're supposed to believe she left the 1960s with that intention all along, otherwise why would she have the two modern books? In the books they travel that route - Bree & kids to 1739 and then on to Jamie & Claire time.

I bet if they stick to this being true about Faith, they will never mention that William connection again! Thanks, it was them going back to the 1960’s that I didn’t remember, but if they didn’t do that then that’s why!

Doesn't it seem like there is an awful lot to do to end the series in one final hour?

I haven’t watched the latest season so I’m not sure what they’re up to, however, I’ve read all the books. I don’t care about spoilers so if you wouldn’t mind bringing me up-to-date, that would be great. Where are they up to so far and what have they added?

Well that's the thing, Jimmer, not much has happened in the way of action, although family events have changed. Brianna and Roger just appeared back on the bluff and they've had another baby. Young Ian (who they're finally just calling Ian) went to see his former wife, after her tribe was almost wiped out by some battle. His wife asked them to take his son with them for safety, so now they are looking after him and their own baby. Fergus and Marsali were running a print shop which was set on fire because they were printing pro-rebellion stuff. Fergus died saving the children. Just before that, they found out Fergus was the son of Comte St Germain, and Marsali has decided to take the inheritance to look after the kids. William's cousin was meant to be dead after a battle, and his wife and daughter went to Lord John's for help (and have been staying there since). William fell in love with her, which might have been a bit of manipulation on her part, but feels he must go and find out exactly what happened to his cousin. He goes to where it was meant to have happened and gets suspicious, and it turns out he's alive and a turncoat, and now works for the Continental army. And his wife knew! Can't remember what it was but after that something prompted William to go to see Jamie, and they made up and hugged. He'd felt abandoned and realised Jamie had done what he thought best for him. And then the last story was Lord John was kidnapped by Captain Richardson, who wanted him to make his brother change his speech to parliament. Something like his speech was instrumental in the UK withdrawing funds from the US, which brought about the US slave trade, whereas if he'd advocated to keep sending money, the US trade wouldn't have developed, and they'd have been governed by UK laws limiting it. (Or something like that.) William and Jamie went to save him, that's how we found out why, and Capt Richardson knew what would happen as he's a time traveller too, which Claire realised. After that Jamie said he forgave Lord John for sleeping with Claire. John said "You forgive Me???" and eventually Jamie apologised and they played chess and all is forgiven. They now believe Frannie is their granddaughter, and there were some flashbacks about how Frannie's mother came to be adopted where she was, and how the song was passed on. I can't remember the reason. I think that's it for the personal stories. And all in the background it's been the fear that Jamie will die in the battle of Kings Mountain. Brianna brought one of Frank's books back for them to read, and that's what it said (they think the book was purposely written to help Brianna, as Frank knew she would go back). So that's what I meant about there being an awful lot to wrap up. If he does die he needs a better send off than they can give in an hour. If he doesn't, I'd like to know what happens in their futures. I was expecting the battle to start this episode, so that there would be more time to tie it all up in the finale but nope, just day to day stuff this week too. I haven't read any books, so don't know what to expect next week. Tears either way I'd expect.

Thanks for the fantastic summary. If I remember correctly, the events you describe are fairly consistent with the books, with the exception of the show including some additional plot about Frannie, rescuing Lord John and reconciling with Lord John and William. Is the upcoming episode the final episode in the entire series? If so, I agree that it seems there’s a lot of ground to cover. She is currently writing the 10th book which she has suggested may be the last book of the series. It’s hard to see how all of that book will be included at this point in the TV series. Maybe the full plot from that book will be included if they make a follow-up movie?

Yes, this coming Friday is the SERIES finale . It just seems like a really... unsatisfactory... way to have a final season. It's not that I haven't enjoyed catching up with everyone's stories, but I did expect more drama I suppose.

They aren't even trying to include DG's book. She wrote ep 9, but she stuck to the show's changes. Faith living is still the worst one. WAY too much time was spent on William & Amaranthus, but that was part of the book as well. I am truly hoping they follow through with what happens with Jamie in the book at King's Mountain. What I'm worried about is that MBR (showrunner) is basically writing fanfic at this point between Fergus dying & Marsali taking the money (she would NEVER!) and Faith living, and I can easily see him doing some kind of really ridiculous crossover with Blood of My Blood to "end" it without really ending it satisfactorily. BOMB has not done nearly as well as Outlander (the chemistry is just not there) and I can see him trying to prop it up. Sam and Caitriona are executive producers and have been very active in S6 and S7 but they didn't even get the scripts ahead of time this season. That completely takes away their power to fight for their characters - and we've seen it with Claire sidelined the middle 3 eps of this season. While DG did the same thing in the books, I think Sam and Caitriona would have fought to change THAT! Anyway, ONE episode left, and I truly hope they do the story justice.

I also worried that they would do a crossover with Blood of My Blood, and kind of deny us a proper ending to this series. My complete lack of imagination means I can't think of any way they can satisfy me in just one hour. And I'd have liked to tied it in to the beginning of the series, where the figure (which I think is now understood to be Jamie's ghost) looks up at Claire's window. Maybe they will surprise me!
