Gilded Age sounds right up my alley. We will try The Sopranos but may not keep my husbands attention with his dementia. I have seen Big Love and True Blood and did love those.

You will love Boardwalk Empire. It stars Steve Buscemi as sort of a crime boss/politician in 1920s-30's Atlantic City during Prohibition.

I’ll give Boardwalk Empire a try. Did I read that Game Of Thrones was hard to follow?

Lakecat, I had to let go of the idea I could track the family names/characters at first. I got frustrated at not following them and feeling confused. Just let go and know that you will eventually have the names down.

Even though they didn’t stick the landing, so to speak, Game of Thrones was an absolutely wonderful series.

Boardwalk Empire is fantastic. Game of thrones can be entertaining. Sometimes it feels like they are just telling you events and names (that I also couldn't follow) without any action. But still when it had action, it was compelling. I ended up watching House of Dragon as well. So I agree with just not worrying about remembering all the names.

My friend recommended an old series BANSHEE. I am on season 1 ep 5 and omg!! this show has so much action. I had forgotten how steamy Cinemax shows used to be! This show is graphic violence and sex. The characters are so interesting. I think it has 4 seasons. Anyone watch it?

If you watch anything watch the movie Bad Education, is is great, Allison Janney is in it. Hugh Jackman, Ray Romano. It is a true story. I remember it at the time. It was a huge story about corruption in a Long Island school district that was uncovered by a student.

Attention all fans of Hacks who are also Amazing Race fans! The main storyline of the latest episode of Hacks (on HBO/HBO Max -- season 5, episode 5 -- entitled "D'Amazing Race") centers on the star of the show, Deborah Vance (played by Jean Smart) and how she is convinced by her daughter DJ (played by Kaitlin Olson) to appear on "The Celebrity Amazing Race" -- the episode is a total riot -- I laughed til I cried. The episode features Phil Keoghan as himself, of course, as well as TAR's co-creator, Elise Doganieri. The actual TAR camera crews are also shown. Early on in the series, during season one or two, Deborah's daughter DJ made Deborah promise that if a celebrity version of TAR was ever made that Deborah would compete as the celebrity half of their mother/daughter team. DJ reminds her of the promise and Deborah (very reluctantly) agrees to play. The episode is absolutely sensational and it must not be missed, especially if you're an Amazing Race fan -- you will not be disappointed!

It was a great episode! Kaitlin Olson is so funny. I loved when Deborah shouted Don’t be afraid to shove people! 😂

I haven’t watched the series at all so I’ll have to watch four seasons to get there! It sounds great though so I’m going to have a look at it.

It’s beyond fabulous, Jimmer! Jean Smart has won the Best Actress in a Comedy Emmy THREE times and the show won the Best Comedy Emmy in 2024 — as Pamy pointed out, all were very much deserved. There’s also a 6-minute featurette that accompanies the Amazing Race episode (in the “HBO Extras” section) that stars the creators of the show. They explain how much they love TAR and how they were able to get Phil and the TAR team to participate in the Hacks episode, so please make sure you watch that as well — it’s delightful!

Jimmer, I've only seen the first season because I don't have HBO, but it was available as a preview to get you to order the channel. It starts out a little bit like, "Do I want to stick with this" and "This isn't as great as everyone says it is", but stick with it, you'll be hooked by the end, I promise. One day I will order HBO just for the sole reason to watch all the seasons of this show. It'll have to wait til after BB of course.

I'm watching part 1 of 4 of a 2024 documentary called "Chimp Crazy". It's fascinating! The same people made "Tiger King". These poor chimps! It IS like Tiger King but with Chimps.

I'm excited to hear Hacks is still great in season 5. I just finished episode 4 of season 2. For those who have watched, it is the one where Deborah is booked on a lesbian cruise which she had thought was a gay cruise. (She said gay men love her but lesbians don't.) I laughed out loud so many times in this episode!
