Black dog got my cake as I was typing. I thought she was drinking water from the noise I was hearing. This is my life. Sigh.

You can see the triangle in the center, where I had cut a small sliver for myself. Wish I had cut myself a bigger piece. The good half that was left, I just delivered to my friend, who was my auto mechanic. He just sold his garage to retire. It was his mother's recipe. Mums the word about the dog situation.

Fortunately my dog is a chihuahua/rat terrier mix and can't reach the countertops without an assist from the kitchen table, which is keep pulled far from the countertops.

I made Macarons for the 1st time today and am rather pleased with the results. I give myself a solid B for the raspberry and a B- for the orange. I can make a tricky french pastry but can't post a photo. I'm such a tech dinosaur.

Macarons are notoriously tricky and a bit time consuming but I didn't have much trouble. I think they could have baked a couple minutes longer. I plan to make more this afternoon. I may even try to do some red velvet macarons.

I did make red velvet macarons and I think they turned out well. I also made a few lemon, a few lime and then a lemon lime combination but am too tired to make the curd filling right now.

Omg Sugar, it sounds absolutely yummy! (And I'm not usually a big fan of macarons.) If you email me a pic I can upload it here for you.

Not sure what I am more proud of, my macarons or that I actually uploaded a picture!! The yellow ones are lemon, the green lime the lighter green are lemon/lime combo and the smaller reddish ones are red velvet. Thanks for the offer to upload a picture for me Mame, I appreciate your kindness. I foolishly didn't save your email address but decided to try uploading again and was successful.

Thank you. I just finished baking two batches of cupcakes, one chocolate and one vanilla with sprinkles/confetti. I am watching the season 2 finale of Great Chocolate Showdown while they cool and plan to frost them before I lay my weary bones to rest. Lucky lifeguards will get at least 2 treats this week, macarons today and cupcakes tomorrow. I was going to do some fancy flower frosting but may just frost using some of the many sprinkle type options I have such as butterflies, flowers, stars, moons, jimmies, confetti and sprinkles.

I am binge watching season 1 of The Great Canadian Baking Show and really would like to try a Maple Leaf Sandwich Cookie. It is the technical challenge in episode 4 and they look delicious. Do any of you Canadian TVClubHouser's have a tasty recipe to share?

Cinnamongirl, a hundred sweet thanks to you! I didn't see this when I was looking and shall make them when next I bake. I am a bit baked out as I made 26 batches of various cookies most of which required decorating for Christmas after making 40 RKT turkeys for Thanksgiving. Plus I have decided that I need to wait a month for everyone to start having a treat again after the new year. I didn't mail cookies this year, cost too much and USPS is horrid. My dad was sad he didn't have any Christmas cookies this year so I may make some to send him in a few weeks. I may try FedEx or just fly to Arizona myself, might cost about the same.

Hahahahaha, Sugar ... I have been getting daily FedEx alerts about possible delivery delays because of all the crazy weather, so .... flying might be faster and cheaper. Although I will say I haven't experienced any delay in getting my stuff.

I am making multiple batches of macarons today. My favorite lemon curd, red velvet and chocolate peanut butter. It takes hours, I don't know why I think I need to make so many for any event. I guess I can't bear the thought of anyone being left out of a treat. The chocolate peanut butter are just OK, IMO. I saw the recipe online and know that some chocolate and peanut butter lovers will be there, so I hope it is enjoyed.

The macarons were delicious. I also made rosemary focaccia bread, very tasty. My husband and I made Lemon Chicken Orzo soup that won 1st place at the chili & soup cook off we attended.

I was surprised that I didn't have any trouble with the macarons as they are notoriously difficult. That being said, the Chocolate Peanut Butter shells that I did last week were a bit tricky. The batter was a bit runny and some cracked and fell apart, but they were a big hit. I saved the less pretty cracked ones and have been putting a bit of leftover peanut butter filling or cream cheese filling on them and yes they are tasty. I was going to take them out of the rotation but guess I will keep them and try to get better shells. I gave a most of the macarons away and now wish I had selfishly kept them. I also understand why they are so expensive for the little quarter size ones (the ones I make are a bit bigger, about 2 inches) They are very time consuming and the batches don't make too many.
