I loved seeing Mike Myers again! A nice surprise as with Bill Murray. I thought he's never appear on this show again. Seeing Cher and Keith Richard's in the audience was amazing too

I do like that the current SNL players are able to work with the og’s. That must pretty special for them. Eddie Murphy is in quite a lot of the sketches.. I think he likes working with Kenam, or Kenan had a heavy hand in writing. Finally, Garret Morris! Always loved him. And Lorraine Newman previously. He’s sitting down, so I wonder about his health.

That piece with John Belushi being the last one to survive from the original cast was eerie. Wasn't he the first one to pass out of that group?

Yes, he was the first… kind of sad. I remember when he passed, such a shock at the loss of his huge talent.

I think only he and Gilda are gone, but the rest have to be in their late 70’s or early 80’s. I was 20 when I started watching and think, most of them were older than me.

Looked it up, Garrett Morris is 88! Also, he was Julliard trained and worked with Harry Belafonte before Belafonte became a star.

Seeing Paul Simon help Garrett Morris stand at the end of the show was very touching. It makes me sad that, one day, these 2 SNL stars will be gone. I will cry on that day.

I'm am about halfway in so far. I got the biggest laugh when Eddie Murphy was impersonating Tracy Morgan during "Black Jeopardy", and Tracy was right next to him as another contestant. LOL

I can't remember who it was but I loved when he said "coming from the gulf of actor's name". I burst out laughing.

Dipo, it was Steve Martin in his monologue. It was a lot of fun. I love John Mulaney's NY musicals. Always hilarious.

Thanks Mamie, I saw the show out of order, came into it when they were on the "news" and then watched the beginning when it restarted here on the West Coast. So I couldn't remember where it was in the show, just loved the comment.

Oh, I forgot about this, it was really good too. entertainmentweekly 1h 'Saturday Night Live' is calling itself out for a history of offenses, including ethnic stereotypes, sexism, underage sexual harassment, body shaming, gay panic, questionable makeup, and other 'yikes' moments.

I just finished through the "scared straight" skit. OMG, that was so funny! I have always liked the scared straight skits through the years. Eddie, Tracy and Kenan belong together.

SNL had years of issues in diversity of the cast. I heard an interview with Garrett Morris, where he said that he couldn’t get sketches make it to the show. After Eddie arrived, it got easier but then it was the same problem for the women cast mates. There was a period of time where they’d bring on black women, but only as supporting cast. Then, if you realize that the first Hispanic cast person was only a few years ago and the first Asian was Bowen Yang, about 4 years ago. While SNL carried the ‘woke’ and ‘too progressive, left leaning’ label by conservatives for years, the reality is they were neither in terms of their hiring practices over the years.

Heh, I remember seeing the first Snl and writing Them a letter telling them how funny I thought it was and asking for tickets. I got tickets 2 years later to the dress rehersal. Took my friend and boss. Cracked up. Belushi was wasted, but the guest was far far worse. Belushi was screaming for him to sober up. It was Joe Cocker. The dress rehearsal was over at 10.30. I grabbed a bus to my apartment in Weehawkin, across the river and got home to see the live show start. No taping or dvrs back then. You would be surprised how many little jokes were based on issues with rehersals. Made me feel like an insider. A lot of changes were made between the shows that night. So crazy.

That would’ve been fun to see. I’d go out drinking with friends from work on Saturday night. We’d always end up at someone’s place just to hang out, drink and watch SNL. I will admit there was a period when I didn’t watch. I think it was when Loren Michaels wasn’t at the helm. But, came back to it again and have watched since then. Now, on the West Coast, they air it at 8pm, which is great for me.

I think that Eddie Murphy was the MVP of last nights show.

I admit that I didn't give Eddie Murphy enough credit before because he really shined on this 50th anniversary show! There were a few skits that I've never cared for but that's par for the course. Overall, it was a very enjoyable show to watch.
