ok so no one watched last night?!
What a snooze fest. I thought the guest host did okay but nothing spectacular. I would have liked ot hear a bit more about what the colleges are doing with regard to these parties? Are they still going on?

And very interesting about two bachette shows! I wonder if that means Tayshia will host one and Kaitlin host the other?

I kind of watched. It was rather anti-climatic since we all knew what happened?

The new host didn't really ask any good questions, and Matt was totally uncooperative, not really answering anything anyway.

I saw two people in a lot of pain, but I felt like Rachel was the only one who was really in love. Matt basically kept saying "go away" tho not quite as directly. I honestly understand his upset, but I feel like there was a lot we didn't know to rationalize his cold behavior toward her.

And then the host suggests they embrace, and Matt just ignores that too.

Would anyone mind summing up the major events of this season? Thanks!

Yes, Matt came across rather badly overall. Refusing to see The lady who came in second. Refusing the last date with Rachel. He barely spoke at the after show. Obviously in a lot of pain. I kind of wonder if he saw this as a way out of a relationship he was not fully sold on. Never trust a guy who's nearly 30 and has never been in love!

yeah, Brenda, I got that feeling too. She was sitting there crying, trying to hold his hand, he pulled his hand away pretty quickly. He seemed very cold to me. I think he just wasn't that into her anyway. :-(

Jimmer, can't help you there, since my watching was pretty spotty.

As far as two bachelorettes, they will be separate shows, one this summer, one this fall.

Thanks anyway, Kar. I got the impression this wasn't the greatest season. I'm not all that invested in them "finding love" or in the personality clashes so the lack of travel lowered my interest.

It may be good if they do two Bachelorettes. It's just my impression but the Bachelorettes generally seem more genuinely interested in finding love than the Bachelors (or at least as genuinely interested as you can be, given it's a reality TV show).

I watched, no surprises, as the ending was spoiled, and the two Bachelorette shows with Katie and ?Michelle.

I read that there are complaints that Katie is next because she is not black and came in 11th, but she was a fan favorite and she spoke out about the bullying and outright defamation (spreading false news that one woman was an escort).

And I think with Katie going first, that given Michelle time to process going to second place, then a last date that forced her to rappel off the hotel and after she gifted him with t-shirts with his last name for him and her, he sends her home! And he previously refused to speak to her, only did that at the show last night. So waiting to film is best for her.

Jimmer, the season included bullies led by a woman with strange outfits who wore a tiara a d rubber herself Queen Victoria. She was mean and snippy and one of the bullies.

Near the end they brought in New women, who were naturally resened. One was the final 2 who will be bachelorette airing in the fall. She is black.

Even later a blond who knows Hannah? (Who is a friend of Matt and suggested him for the show). This caused more drama but he went her home.

The final two met his mom and brother. They seemed to like both women.

His mom was left by his dad and he wants to be sure that won't happen. Earlier he had his dad come and talk about the past.

He went back to see his mom and brother and mom basically encouraged him to not propose.

So as I said, he put one woman through a date, then blindsided her by sending her home.

Then he cancelled the date with Rachel.. She was dressed and ready but Chris showed up and said Matt needed space.

Later a note was shoved under her door apologizing and saying to meet him at the lake, where he did not propose, but gave her a rose.

She is the one who went to an antebellum party and that caused them to break up.

I thought he was really cold and used this to get away.

And he still has the bushy beard.

I thought Matt's mom got in his head when she told him, "Love fades." He seemed to change right after that. I liked him for most of the season, but I was disappointed when he dumped Michelle so suddenly (and then refused to see her to talk about it!) and also refused at the last minute to have Rachael's final date. It was just a very anti-climactic ending of a ho-hum season.

And still no mention of BIP. I'm very sad, cause I look forward to it all year. 😭😭😭

Yes, I agree it's good that Michelle is going second for Bachette as it gives her more time to be fully over Matt and ready for love. I liked Katie a lot and I like that she is "older" and more sure of who she is.

BIP is supposed to be a go! Google says it will start airing in August. I'd love to see Wells host it. I love him.

First his mother's anger and bitterness at Matt's father started the whole ball rolling by sabotaging where he was going and sent him into 2 days of self-doubt. I knew in that moment he'd never follow through even if he proposed.

The step-in host did an okay job in a difficult situation. He tried his best to keep things flowing. Matt was not an active participant nor did he want to own any of his own actions in regards to Michelle until he was practically forced to do so.

For Matt the whole social media witch hunt gave him the perfect excuse to break it off with him looking like the injured party. (I don't buy into the whole cancel culture movement. I see it as an excuse to persecute and destroy others)

Just to note, being of Native American heritage, I understand why there are things that are offensive and that for those who do not grasp that it is important for that to be understood. But,on the other side those who are offended should allow a bit of grace and mercy to those who are just coming to understanding instead of persecuting them in the court of public opinion. There are far better ways to handle things, such as educating.

In spite of everything I felt tremendous compassion for Rachael. She truly loved Matt and to not only be persecuted by the social media world, to have it blazened across national television, and then to have to sit in interrogation after being dumped and have to try and put into words that would satisfy how she came to recognize her wrong choices and how she is changing herself, to have the man she loved sitting next to her rejecting her with every breath and refusing to look at her to speak to her other than to say, "She needs to put in the work." (I kept wondering what work exactly would satisfy him, did he have a particular agenda?)

On a final note, or two, Matt really needs to shave off that horribly unattractive beard. And lastly, I think I'm done with this show. It's fairly well run off the rails for me. The fairy tale dream has been run over and trampled into the dust.

Yeah, the whole 'she needs to put in the work on her own" ie, no where near him... really seemed cold to me.

I'm not sure what all went on between them, but I found her more sympathetic.

MissPoufy, yes! All of what you said!

I knew from Reality Steve that he chose Rachael, but no engagement, that he did a poor job hiding that they were together, as he followed or used a play list of hers .. Then the social media storm about her college pictures broke.

But It was so clear that his mother's bitterness about his father (and we met the father, who sounded like HE has major "work" to do) was still a major theme in her son's lives and she contributed to pushing her son completely back into the place where he may never take a leap into love.

Yes, Agreed MissPoufy. And SeaMonkey. Good conclusions and summaries. Matt has a lot of baggage from both his absent father and his mother's bitterness over it.

Rachael and Matt may have had more problems than just the antebellum thing (like his inability to commit). It was hard to watch him being so cold to her, especially when Emmaneul asked if they wanted to embrace one more time, and Matt just ignored him. Matt came off really poorly, and I agree that the nasty beard should go.

I thought Emmanuel did a great job. He was articulate and energetic, without making the show about him. I didn't miss Harrison's smirky smugness at all.

And yay for BIP!!! I absolutely agree that Wells would make an awesome host, but I also love him as the bartender, listening to all their romantic woes. Could he do both?

Don't know if I can take two seasons of "Bachelorette," especially with Kaitlyn. I do like Taysia, but wonder how we'll like her as a host?

Didn't know exactly where to put this, but I didn't see a "General Discussions" folder.

This is EXACTLY why I stopped reading Reality Steve many years ago. I didn't like the mean and sexist things he said about women.

"What he's done publicly that has been published on his website and his Twitter, etcetera," [Bekah Martinez] said, "are extremely problematic and show an extreme internalized bias towards just women as a whole that I think is really disturbing."

According to Wendy, Matt and Rachael are back together. I guess she has been putting in the work.
