RN My stripped bathroom. Don (The plumber/Handyman) just went to dinner and when he gets back the tub is leaving.

Are you going to lose the window?

And he should have put a tarp down on the ground outside the window. Easier to clean it all up.

Can't wait to see the finished look. What are you doing for the floor?

RN Yep, losing the window.

Here's a cap of the flooring I ordered.

Hope all goes well with the remodel, Naja, and it gets done by Tuesday.

That is similar to the shower replacing my tub, but mine has a seat. I have yet to try that one but have been been using the smaller but similar shower.

None of my bathrooms have windows.

Flooring is interesting.. Will be interested in the final look!

Good to have new toilet.

This is a time if you want to upgrade or add electrical outlets to bath or closet.. With walls opened up.

RN the closet is actually being removed, Seamonkey. The tiny toilet and only 24 inch vanity were pressed up against the bathtub and there was barely any room to squeeze your butt in the space. So the toilet and vanity Plumbing is being moved further away from where the shower will be.

RN See how the tiny 24 inch vanity is up against the tub, and the toilet is right up against the vanity? In the foreground on the left is the closet that has already been removed to make space for a bigger vanity and toilet with space between, and there will be some nice space in front of the shower, too. :-)

You are making great changes, Naja.

The opened up walls.. My entire downstairs and part of my upstairs looked like that for a year after abatement for asbestos. It does let you look for areas of concern, if any. Yours looks good in those shots. I had termite damage, a cracked water pipe, two fan vents that just went into the attic. Nice to have fixed.

I imagine your dogs will be happier when this is done.

RN So smart to get rid of tub and have walk-in. They sure did have a tight squeeze of toilet/vanity/tub before. Can’t wait to see it completed. :-)

RN It was spooky taking a shower in the basement shower just now. Hopefully I won't have to do it more than a couple more times.

Sea, the dogs love the handyman so much. They are so happy when he gets here everyday. The noise doesn't bother them at all.

I had to change the floor. The one I wanted won't be here in time. I changed it to a dark grey stone tile look.

Naja, that tile looks just fine, and it will not make one dollar, or a thousand, of difference if/when you sell.

RN Privacy fence was started. Only 3 sides, though. The front sections on each side of the house where the gates are will be done in the spring when I have more funds. In the meantime, I am putting chain link fence height extenders on the front.

RN traded in our cell phones for the latest model. With Carey retiring we wanted to take advantage of her status as a member of the “military” as she is still a Department of Defense/War employee. Should lock us in for at least 3-4 more years.

What do the neighbors think of all the changes, Naja? Seems like a nice upgrade on the outside.

Your dogs are good at making friends...

RB The bathroom is delayed until next Wednesday. :-( My plumber/handyman thought he would finish before he had to leave for Texas for a week, but he couldn't. He is giving me such a good deal, that I honestly don't mind. At least the new toilet is hooked up and I don't have to go to the basement bathroom anymore for that.

RN a flash back to the onset of Covid except this time it is the weather. Carey and I stopped at the grocery store on the way home from me picking her up at the airport. It was pretty busy but manageable. Many items, like chicken of any kind, in the meat market were slim to none. Luckily all we wanted was ribs for a German baked ribs, sauerkraut, and potato dinner Sunday. I did notice other things like lunch meats, bread, and toilet paper were virtually empty. I was surprised milk and eggs were actually available as those disappeared pretty quickly during the initial Covid panic. Our big chain is HEB and they said this morning they have what they think is sufficient stocks but are timing out restocking to spread out the supply over the whole weekend so everybody has some chance to get something. We’re fine and have plenty for several days.

RN After the disaster a few years ago when the whole state of Texas lost power for the better part of a week we managed to get through this freeze with no significant outages. Here in San Antonio we had a couple of spots that lost power but those were almost all caused by downed power lines when frozen tree limbs fell on them. Supposedly the state and power companies spent millions of dollars to winterize the grid and it appears to have worked. I know we are still paying an additional fee to our local power to recoup the winterizing costs.

No power outages here in far south tropical tip of texas, but some locals did report frozen outdoor pet water bowls.

Pretty much nobody went anywhere today down here.

RN I'm going to try to get my car out of the garage, and go get my chocolate chips!

If you don't hear from me in a half hour, send out the rescue dogs.
