I would want old, dirty orange carpet gone, too.

It looks okay in pictures.

I am surprised that the sellers didn't remove the carpet before going on the market, but a good deal for you!

It looks so good!

I am guessing that your stuff is moved in by now. Have the dogs claimed the house and yard?

Lovely floors, happy dogs and a very weary Naja.

I'm so pleased that your house hunt is over and move in day is mostly done. I'm sorry I couldn't offer to help, I've just been too sick.

Gorgeous flooring! And the poochies seem overjoyed at their new digs! Plus I hear delight in your voice, not exhaustion. But I bet you are pooped. Once you're completely moved, you can pace yourself about unpacking and settling in.

RN I can't believe this. The big tree in the middle of my backyard is a freaking sweet gumtree! The kind that ruined my front yard every year from the sweet gum next door! I'm going to have to call to have it removed.

RN, Naja... congrats on the move!

Sorry about the tree, but at least this time it's under your control.

RN I just hired a guy to remove the tree. He says it's incredible the amount of people that want these removed. It will be gone Friday or Monday. He said this is their slow time of year so they can get to it fast.

The up side of sweetgum trees is that they have spectacular fall foliage. The down side is those infernal spiky balls. We have a good number of sweetgum trees, like HUGE ones, in my lovely over-55, 123-unit community. Luckily we have a full-time landscaping crew.

And Happy New Years to all. We are in central time zone for 3 months, so midnight is in 46 minutes. But we did go watch fireworks at 9:15 pm, so just waiting for midnight.

Four minutes and 2026 hits us on the west coast.

And unfortunately the fireworks idiots are out there and very close. All fireworks illegal in my city. I was hoping the rain would ramp up and discourage them.

When we rented in Modjeska Canyon, here in Orange County in the Cleveland National Forest a huge pine tree had to be cut down. Unfortunate, but it was dying and would have caused havoc falling in any direction.

But we had the option to leave a stump and could sit on that or could have put a table top onit. There were big Sycamore trees and oaks..

When I rented a place in Fullerton there was a large carob tree in the front yard. Those carob pods are nothing to joke about.

Here we have a variety of trees, but my courtyard green space has huge elm trees. But we have gardeners.

Well here is to a new year with some huge shifts toward decency, respect, heart and soul. ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ฏ

That is a lovely Year of the Horse image, Karuuna. May it be a good omen for you and all of us.

RN HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I woke up to an inch of snow. And inch is nice. :-)

The year of the Horse. I believe that bodes good luck. Thanks for the info, Kar.

RN I'm having my first cup of coffee for the new year and my new years resolution is to declutter the house. I'm off for the next 4 months, so hopefully, it's doable. Lol!

Happy New Year everyone! Fireworks are legal here and they were going crazy last night. My new neighbors directly across the street apparently love fireworks and we're right in the middle of the street blowing off the biggest ones you can imagine. I normally don't mind, but my dogs are in a new place and for the very first time they were scared.

RN I'm going to take a shower, wash my hair and then cut it. In an hour, I'll know if I made a huge mistake or not. Lol! And yes, I have hair scissors.

Naja, I'm sorry you and your dogs went through that. On the bright side, at least you don't live in Miami. They shoot off guns there at midnight.

RN weโ€™re taking down Christmas today. Kind of sad as Christmas is a favorite time of year. Because of weather and timing we went a bit Christmas-lite from our typical outdoor decorations but already looking forward to next Christmas. Yes 2026 is the year of Mrs Mackโ€™s retirement in just two months. That means next year weโ€™ll have more time for lots of things including decorating for Christmas.
