After a longer break than usual, KÄ«lauea Volcano in Hawaii is preparing for its next eruptive episode.
This will mark the 30th episode since the onset of the eruption on December 23, 2024. Each of these episodes has lasted a few hours to over a week, and they have dramatically changed the summit caldera at the volcano.
Although it is unclear when lava fountaining will commence, scientists forecast it may begin as early as today or tomorrow per USGS.
This volcano is highly ACTIVE!

Sparked by lightning on July 4, the fire that destroyed the Grand Canyon Lodge and some 70 other historic cabins.
