Can anyone figure out what kind of heating and AC this house has? Or even if it has AC at all? I want so badly to move into a tiny house and this one is so cute and in such a safe neighborhood. https://www.movoto.com/independence-mo/..../

It says electric cooling AC and Forced air heating, which is also electric. There’s a pull down that you need to click on for the property detail.

Thanks, Kooklie! It took forever, but I finally found that pull down.

I'm making an appt to see that tiny house. I'm hoping it sucks so I can stop pining for it. If I love it, then I can stop wondering and start doing something about it. Utilities, taxes and insurance would be less than half than my house now.

Go for it, Naja, and good luck! The heating/cooling unit in the kitchen looks like a mini split. We had one put in the master bedroom when we converted the garage to the bedroom. We couldn't add the room to the oil furnace system. In the bedroom we also have baseboard electric as a backup. The minisplit is supposed to use less electricity. When using as ac, it works great. Cools down the room instantly. When using for heat, it depends on how cold it is outside. The way it works is that it takes the heat that's in the air outside, sucks it out and puts it into the room. I'll tell you, there's not much heat in the outside air when it's 19° outside. But it does get warm. I guess I could always turn on the baseboards, but I refuse out of principle.

Between last night and this morning, it went to "sale pending".

Wow, they already took down the ad and there's an old photo of the house there before it was modernized.

You can still go look, tell them you are considering it if another like it comes on the market.

I can already see why it wouldn't work. That tiny kitchen counter would frustrate me to no end, as well as the fact there isn't room for my retro chrome kitchen table. The cabinets are so low you couldn't even keep a coffee maker on the counter. Plus, I don't think my dogs would be happy with such a tiny yard.

I pulled the house up on Zillow and my impression is you may have dodged the bullet so to speak. It really comes off as a bit of a low budget flip. Mostly paint as kind of a “putting lipstick on a pig” approach. Realize you want to downsize but I think you could do better.

I think you're right. I could make the search a lot easier if didn't want ranch with no basement, but I really need that. I don't want any stairs.

If Laundry was on the main level and it had a basement, that's ok, but none of the houses with basements have laundry rooms on the main level. It's all in the basement.

I'm so happy we converted the small extra bedroom into a laundry room. I was always terrified carrying the laundry basket down the stairs. I often considered flinging the dirty laundry down the stairs first. And it only would have gotten worse as I got older. What a basement is good for is when tornados are coming.

Basements are hard to nearly impossible to find here in Texas but I wish we had one. My three houses in Virginia all had basements and while that was new to me at first I really got used to mostly the storage area. Luckily all the houses had main floor laundry rooms…..usually a laundry/mud room off the garage…and I really liked that. While I don’t dwell on it a basement here would also be great in case of a tornado.

Naja, that's interesting... my house is a ranch with a basement, but the laundry is on the first level. Only the water heater, furnace etc are in the basement.

Karuuna, you need a Pittsburgh potty down there.

No potty in the basement, septic tank is too high, would require serious pumping to get the poop up there.

No basements around here.. I always thought that yard was small for your dogs and that big house sort of looming over things.

I just started to clean the house. Did you know that if dust sits too long it turns into dirt?

There doesn’t seem to be a general non specific season Big Brother thread, so I will ask here: Is it true that Will Kirby has a man order of protection (there might be a different name for it) against Mike Boogie? And Mike Boogie also has been arrested multiple times. Including shoplifting?
