We participated in "The Resistance" today, and turned on all televisions (3) in our rented condo, tuned to non-news channels.

I got a COVID shot and wore black... As usual they mentioned shingles shot, which I got 7 years ago.. And no way would I get that the same day as any other vaccine.

RN I had to go look it up in the covid thread in N&V to find the date. But on the same day in 2023 I got the shingrix in the right arm, flu and covid in the left arm. Everything went great. All 3!

And that worked for you. Great. But had you had a bad reaction, as some do, you wouldn't know the cause.

RN I think they might be able to. They made sure to log where each shot was given.

That would cover a local reaction. I am a lot more concerned about the price of vaccines in the future, the availability of vaccines and even the creation of new vaccines. Also concerned about any reporting about various medical situations in the U.S.

Maybe if there is a new pandemic, Dolly Parton can cover the cost of creating it AGAIN. Or Taylor Swift can. Or maybe Bezos's ex-wife will have enough money left. And then the President can take credit AGAIN for quickly getting out a vaccine. Thank god for female billionaires. We need more of them, and fast. Taylor Swift saves the world. Because women would do it.

This morning, I spent 10 minutes looking for my animal print pajamas. Annoyed that I couldn't find them anywhere. Finally found them in the laundry, where I had just taken them off to wash. At least I wasn't still wearing them as I searched.

RN I know the feeling! Here's what I seem to be doing at least once a week. When I go to put on my underwear, I realize I put them on inside out. So I take them off, straighten them out and put them on again. Only to to realize I put them on inside out AGAIN!

RN full of unexpected energy this morning. Mrs Mack got up at 5:15 AM to get ready to go into work. I probably lasted until 5:30 and finally gave in and got up. All of a sudden I got this burst so around 6:30 I prepped, ground up, and packaged 10 pounds of hamburger. Here it is 8:00 and my number one goal for the day is already done! Too cold to work outside so it might be major veg day other than a short run to the grocery store later.

RN Good for you! When I did my costco run yesterday, I bought a bunch of different chicken parts packages. I don't know how long chicken will be available or how expensive it will get, but I make my own dog food. I don't trust canned dog food. And when I was talking to my sister about this, she was wondering what's going to happen with dog food because they use a lot of chicken for their products. Even worse, we started wondering if the dog food companies are using all the culled chickens that had bird flu are going into dog food. You never know. Heck! Maybe the chicken I bought yesterday are those culled chickens. Ack!

RN there unfortunately are no guarantees culled chickens aren’t going to show up hidden in dog or cat food Grooch. I did talk to our butcher about it and he said best bet for the day to day consumer is to stay with the known brands. This is at HEB which is a well known grocery chain with supposedly their own supply chain. He thinks their oversight and system will keep bad chicken off their shelves. Still not absolute but better than some off brand or small local market.

RN it's a scary world out there. And since you actually talked to a butcher about it, at least now I don't think I'm crazy having those thoughts. A funny story about my costco shopping yesterday. When I got to the aisle with the eggs, it was crowded and I could see it the egg section was half empty. Then I saw the sign with the price. It said $15.99!!! How could it have jumped that high in a week? I was shocked! When I got closer to read the sign better, it was the price for 5 dozen eggs. Whew! The price for the 2 dozen package was $6 and change. About a $1 more than last time. I also bought a giant jar of mayo (it's an all egg product.) It's up to $10 for one of their jars now. I used to pay $6.99 not to long ago.

In all fairness the butcher wasn’t particularly concerned.

And not all the chickens have the flu, and cooking it should kill the virus. But it still skeeves me out.
