In a strange twist of weather Juju is getting more snow at the coast than we are further north in San Antonio. Temperature about the same but not enough moisture in the air up here for it to snow.

We are at -5 right now. I have never seen my dogs run out and back in from pottying so fast.

It's another beautiful day here in Northern California, so weird to see the snow in New Orleans!!

We have clear blue skies with no breeze, feels chilly out but I have to call it "WARM" considering what everyone else is feeling. Temps going to 59.

Unbelievable that there is a Blizzard warning along the coast of Texas and Louisiana.

I guess there really is NO CLIMATE WARMING since it is cold and snow, hahahahahaha.

High fire danger. Yesterday was super windy.. Like snatching hats, slamming car doors open or shut, and more windy overnight to a scary level.

New fires in San Diego County, and San Clemente here in Orange County.. So we are surrounded up and down the coast.

I think the San Clemente fire was beaten back quickly.

So cold this morning our garbage company had to change their equipment and go “old school”. Last year or so they have been using a single driver and truck with a “crab claw” device on the side of the truck. Driver just drives next to the garbage container and the claw reaches out, grabs the container, and dumps it in the open top the garbage truck. Problem this morning was the plastic garbage containers were so cold the claw was shattering them like glass. Had to change trucks back to the old style open back and two guys picking the garbage cans up and dumping them manually. 🙂

WOW that is amazing Mack. I never thought about those plastic cans getting cold and shattering.

We didn't actually get any snow down here in South Padre Island, TX but we did get a wind chill of 27 because of 40 mph wind from the north while raining. We ventured out to the mainland late morning, and I swear I did see wannabe snow flakes floating into the car when I opened the door, but they vanished quickly. Our car took a battering from the wind when we drove across the 3 mile long east-west causeway over open water from the island to the mainland.

Ack! The temperature is still going down! It's 5° now.

Dogdoc, that is insane. We got an oil delivery yesterday. It was $3.54 a gallon. So, that was $640. We went through it so fast last month. And that's with using the wood burning stove. Which I am about to get started right now. Otherwise this house will never warm up.

With almost 4,000 SF on two stories we have 2-zone heating and cooling. For what I can tell our two furnaces have been pretty much running non-stop for a day or two. Luckily it’s natural gas fuel which is better than pure electric or heating oil but it still will add up along with the electricity to run the fans. Our house is pretty tight and well insulated but we do have three exterior doors that are on order to be replaced and I can feel some leakage around/near them. It will be sunny today so here in an hour or so our solar array will take over the electrical load.

A bit chilly outside but the sun is shining strong and bright with clear blue skies. No breeze and temps going to 64!

Ohhh. So I dressed warmly and went to meet the termite inspector. We were inside for quite awhile, and when we came out, it was hot, and winds had switched from onshore to coming from desert and mountains.. And now, winds are ramping up again. Fire danger...

Warmed up to 52F today. Not bad for this time of year but it will drop like a rock when the sun sets to below freezing. Long range…next 10-14 days…is back to normal mid 60s for highs, low 40s for lows.

Following the rapidly spreading Hughes Fire in Castaic Lake.
Our first responders are already working hard to tackle these flames – and more resources are on the way.

Nearly 9 inches of snow turned Gulf Shores, Alabama, from a beach paradise into a stunning winter wonderland.
