Also very cold here in far south Texas today - 58 with about 25 mph winds, overcast and spitting rain most of the day - in other words a typical Pacific Northwest any-season day, except more windy.

It's a bit chilly but that may just be because the sun hasn't broken thru thee clouds yet. It is trying but right now we just have bright gray skies. Currently 43 going to 57.

Might make it to 60-62F in San Antonio today. That’s about 10 degrees lower than our normal temp this time of year.

Sunny and very cold in Portland. 🥶 We started at 30 degrees headed for 49, but it doesn’t feel like it. We are in an inversion, so it gets really cold at night.

Saw on the weather forecast for tonight in my hometown in WA that tonight could be the first frost. Temps got up to 75 here in far south Texas and turned sunny for the afternoon. Wind picked up around 3 pm, temperature drop overnight and possible thunderstorms tomorrow and Tuesday.

WOW, I just got a Tsunami alert on a my phones and tablets. There was a 6.6 Earthquake in Humboldt County and that triggered the alert. I also got a Quake Alert but I didn't realize what it was, it was a loud buzz/alarm but I couldn't tell where it came from so I went about my business. At least now I know what that was for the future.

Just upgraded the earthquake to a 7 and it was on the Mendocino Fault.

How serious is the tsunami warning, Dipo? I presume they are being overly overly cautious, but the map shows water could go right over the peninsula at San Francisco!

Red parts is a warning (not just an advisory!) for water: https://www.tsunami.gov/

It was pretty serious, coastline schools in Pacific evacuated the kids, and the roads were busy with people going to higher ground. They have now cancelled the warning. The waves are higher and breaking, making a nice picture and I am sure the Surfers are on their way to the ocean, LOL. They are having multiple aftershocks and there was some damage up north, some homes knocked off their foundations. BART stopped running trains thru the transbay tube, so I suspect we will hear soon that they have inspected the tracks and have it back on. They also told the Houseboat people in Sausalito to get to higher ground. It was taken very seriously around the Bay, glad they have cancelled it now.

It was kind of weird watching social media, half were panicking, and half were saying, nah, it's going to be nothing. I went to the KPIX website and they hardly had a thing on it, probably didn't know quite what to say. And I checked my old house and it was out of the tsunami warning area, but then it's on a bit of a hill. Looked a bit grim for a lot of the peninsula for a while though. Glad it wasn't too bad, at least outside the original shake area, 7 is a big quake!

I was watching this live on the local news and they did a good job of updating the status, explaining why the need for the warnings and talking to people at the US Geological Survey. It was fascinating to hear why certain areas might receive more water than others such as Berkeley where they had an evacuation order for a short time for the waterfront area. I'm so glad it didn't end up happening.

Kappy they did do a good job and of course now some people are saying they shouldn't have been scared into evacuating BUT imagine if there was no warning and people died, they would still be complaining! AND we had stupid ones who went down to the beaches to "see the waves", too bad it didn't happen so we could get those ones out of the gene pool, LOL. It was very interesting and I think they learned a lot for a future event, like how they are going to deal with all the homeless and the best way to evacuate some parts of the city and bay cities.

Very true, Dipo. Then there are the people who had probably been out there for the morning and had no clue what was being reported on, lol.
