RN Endo isn't even a factor in the house. He spends all his home time in his room playing video games online. He brought a 46 inch TV from home for his room for his gaming. He wears headphones and I don't think he knows I can hear him when he yells out in joy when he did something good in his game. LOL
He stops before it gets late, so it's no big deal. He's home on call today, so he'll be playing his video games all day in his room, with bathroom breaks and food breaks. I absolutely don't mind. It's great.

Kappy, did you see those those built in apps at the online flooring stores? They show you how your room will look. I like to just play with them. LOL
Here's my living room with the old carpet, and next there it is with a new floor :-)

It's so much fun. I did this one at Empire.

RN our back door out to our patio broke. Actually it started sticking in late summer when opening or closing. I had the surrounding frame rebuilt about four years ago but this time it is the wooden core that has failed. How I don’t know but it is beyond repair and has to be replaced. Naturally it has a twin so to keep it matched both will have to be replaced. Not what I wanted for Christmas.

RN and the great news on the doors just gets better and better….NOT. They are a custom size or at least a size that is no longer readily available….they are 24 years old. Naturally they have to be exterior grade, insulated, and have double paned e-glass.

That's a very cool tip, Naja, to be able to see how flooring will work for one's house. Sorry to hear about your door to the patio. Hope you find a good resolution.

RN I have two door companies coming to give me an estimate next week. Mrs Mack flies to DC Monday to meet with her division chiefs up there. She comes back Thursday and I should estimates or at least a ballpark feel for what it will cost. Exterior doors are expensive.

Mack, they are very expensive. I considered changing my old wood frame French doors (to the outside) for new aluminum slider... and it was way beyond me. I ended up just installing a new screen door, but even that was almost $1000!

Mack, do you have a Habitat for Humanity Restore near you? If there is go check it out. They might have the doors you're looking for and they'd probably cost just a few hundred dollars. I have no idea what E glass is, so that might be a problem. Also, check facebook market place. It's a slim chance, but you never know.

I will check it out Grooch but finding two matching eight foot exterior grade doors would be difficult. My neighbor, who has the same model house, just went through a full window and door renovation of their house. He replaced 30 windows and exterior doors and it cost them $120,000. E-glass is energy efficient double paned glass with an inert gas between the panes to cut down on heating and cooling costs. They are also usually tinted to cut down on uv rays which is an issue here in Texas. Should add that since the doors open out to the patio and pool they are about 80% glass.

Yup. Not a typo. Basically 10% of the market value of the house.

Yikes. My house is almost 40 years old and there's a lot of heat loss around the windows, but goodness, that's a second mortgage!

Their house is 24 years old and the original builder’s grade windows were failing. They were double paned but the gaskets between the panes failed and he had maybe 10+ windows that were foggy. I’ve had the same problem but not as many windows and have had the glass replaced with new sealed glass. Even that cost like $500 per window. Their house was paid off so I think he said he was going to take out a loan against their equity. We’ll just suck up whatever the doors cost.

Yikes to the cost of those doors, My windows are all original single pane and being an end unit I have 6 windows, all large, plus the slider and two windows in the bonus room over the garage.

Naja, so sorry you are losing Endo. He sounded perfect.
