RN Poor Yolanda and her family! Her own house is in a suburb of Houston, and her fence is gone so far, and there's no power, from Hurricane Beryl.

((((yolanda))))

We lived in Houston for 8 years before politics became the main issue, and loved living there.

Thinking of Texannie, who I think was in Houston and anyone else who is there.

Hope Yolanda only lost a fence and nothing more.

RN Thank goodness the only damage for Yolanda was her wooden privacy fence is gone. The pieces aren't even anywhere to be found. The storm surge only got as far the street and didn't get up to her door.

Besides having 4 dogs, as well as rabbits, Yolanda and her family take care of the neighborhood stray cats. They got most of them in the garage before the storm started, but some are missing.

One of Yolanda's dogs, Chata, is 19 years old!

RN About Yolanda's old dog, it wasn't really wanting to eat and was getting a bit lethargic. Yolanda saw how much my dogs love that Freshpet real food dog food, so when she went home to visit, she got some for Chata. Chata loves it and never skips her meals anymore! She's been on it for a few weeks now and she actually started running around a little!

I bet everybody, both at home and at your house, misses Yolanda. Happy for her good luck with the storm and the old dog.

RN Last night Yolanda, her boss, and a few more regional bosses at Yolanda's level all spent last night until very late "shopping" at each other's Sonics. That means they go in and pretend to be customers to see what's going on.

Anyway, Yolanda and others couldn't figure out why some stores were down as much as 20% in sales. It's summer and sales are normally up.

They found out at a few stores, the staff stopped taking orders sometimes as much as 30 minutes before the store is scheduled to close so they could get out earlier. They are supposed to take orders for EVERYTHING until closing time. Not just some things.

Looks like some people are in trouble. They've decided there has to be a night manager every night. Right now they are still trying to get camera systems up at all the stores. Only some have them.

RN I've been talking to this 46 year old woman named Bree for a couple weeks who is a DoorDash driver. She wants to move in Friday. I'm not even counting on it until I see her walk in the door and pay me.

Fingers crossed for you, Naja!
Do you insist on either Facetime or in person meetings before renting? references?

RN The place she contacted me through I pay $150 a year for them to do tenant screening for me. Credit check, criminal record check, and whatever else. Of course I do my own research as well. I speak on the phone with them multiple times. I don't even consider anyone who doesn't have a photo in their profile as well. She's a bit religious so I was scared she was going to be nutty, but this is one of her posts on facebook. So I think we may be at least a little like minded.

"If you can be a felon and be president, the question about felony should be removed from every job, rental agreement, and professional certifications. How about the military? Can felons be in the military?
Felons should get their rights back to vote.

You could be swinging the other way, Naja. Can you check a register of gun owners? Sort of kidding, sort of not.

RN Yes, she would be close to home. She has the opportunity to open her own franchise child care business. She still hasn't decided. She's been with Sonic for 30 years and it's a hard decision for her.

RN I talked to Bree this morning to double check the facebook account is hers, and it is. We both expressed relief about our political positions, but both agreed we would have tolerated it either way.

I want to make sure everyone knows I would rent the room no matter what to her. But this is different than renting out a whole house or apartment. I would be living side by side with this person every day in my own home. Some situations would be more comfortable and easier than others.

I think it is wise not to be too open minded when bringing someone into your home if they had radically opposing political views to yours.. Really better for both..

Hard decision for Yolanda..

RN Good thing I didn't start counting my chickens. The girl that was supposed to move in tomorrow said the deal for her car fell through. She has to look for a different one and will text me when she finds one. She said not to wait for her if I can't.
