My friend from Yahtzee family just flew back from Florida to Detroit and first day, today, they had tornado warnings but didn't have one.. Today here was sunny and not windy! A bit of wind but not whipping around like it has been.

Paul Deanno @CaliforniaWxGuy · 7h 71% to 1%. That's the drop in "Severe Drought" in California in the past 3 months. It's no surprise after our super-wet winter, but the numbers are startling. And all of the metro #LosAngeles area has been removed from a "drought" status.

Nothing but rain lots of rain in Portland. Did I mention the rain? About 1 inch in the last 24 hours, with another 1.1” in the next 24 hours. So… rain. 🌧️☔️💦

Has been raining for weeks. One gets used to it, to the extent that the natives don't even recognize it is raining. It's just the way it is. Our alternative weekly newspaper just recognized some things that are absolutely representative of our city and environs, probably even extending down to Portland. #1 was that we wear hooded raincoats instead of using umbrellas. That is absolutely true. We do NOT use umbrellas. The waterproof hooded jacket will do the same and be less trouble overall. Waterproof shoes are also a good idea, but water resistant sneakers will suffice.

A bit chilly this morning, and hazy gray outside. Weathermen say there is drizzle but not here. It's going to cool off a bit but still get up to 70. And this afternoon we should get our sun back.

It's beautiful!! Clear blue skies, a little breeze, and temps going up to 64. There is a small craft advisory so it must be windy on the bay.

Our neighbors flew out from NW Washington state to Fort Lauderdale Wed. for a Saturday cruise. Since their departure Fort Lauderdale has received about 26 inches of rain in a 24 hour period. Neighbors reported they circled the airport for hours Wed. evening, then got diverted to Tampa where they sat on the runway for hours, then got let into the airport to sleep on benches, and of course no flights out to FTL, which was close Wed. afternoon and may only re-open at 9 am tomorrow. Neighbors rented a car and drove to FTL today. We lived in Miami for about 8 years and during that time once had 16" of rain overnight. 26" is just unimaginable. Neighbors said they drove by the airport today, and it looked like a large lake with airplanes sticking up out of it.

Yes, 26" is really a lot! When I flew in there the runway was struck my lightning, luckily I was not on the runway at that time of the strike. Here we had a very small amount of rain and it was quite chilly when I came out from my doctor appointment at 5:30. But it isn't windy and that's a plus.
