We've got our very own "Battle of the Winds" taking place. Very dry Santa Ana winds continue to flow from the AV down into the SCV & SFV but onshore flow has rebounded from the Pacific with strong & moist winds pushing back against the dry desert air. http://cbsla.com/weather:

Nice this morning, not as cold as yesterday more back to normal. clear blue skies, birds are singing, not much breeze. Temps going up to 71.

5.1 EARTHQUAKE a little before noon, down in Seven Trees, CA which I don't think I have ever heard of but it sort of southeast from San Jose.
Apparently there was also a 3.1 aftershock.
No reported damages.

We didn't feel the aftershock, but the 5.1 one went on quite a long time, probably the second biggest I've felt, last one like it here was 15-20 years ago.
Seven Trees is just a neighbourhood of San Jose, the center was in the hills to the East, up near the Mt Hamilton Observatory, if you know that. Wouldn't have wanted to be up there!

I talked to my sister in Hayward and she didn't know there was an earthquake until she got my message asking if she felt it, LOL. She said her Dog looked up but she didn't feel anything.

The jet stream's a kickin' & starting to look more like it's gearing up to go winter-mode. Today's temps in the 30s and 40s across the Upper Midwest certainly support that. Its position in about a week out West will spell the difference between Santa Ana winds or a CA storm!

Quite nice, I know it is as cold as yesterday but it doesn't feel like it. I wonder what it is that makes that happen.
Skies are kind of gray, I think a weather system is moving in, a very tiny breeze, and temps going up to 69. Looks like it is going to cloud up over night.
