Our whacky weather, the 7th day of Southland storms, is courtesy of this "Rex Block Pattern". The low is stuck & spinning along our coastline and the high over the Pacific NW is preventing anything from moving it out!

This afternoon cumulus clouds are building over our local mountains. Thunderstorms have now popped up over the Santa Barbara County Mountains. Even though we're expecting a MUCH QUIETER weather day out there we'll be watching our maps closely over the coming hours just in case.

REALLLY bad wildfire smoke moved into our town today, I have been coughing for weeks, worried that it might be long Covid, after I had a very mild 5-day infection in Late July. Nope, it is wildfire smoke drifting over the Cascade Mountains, and today our air quality went into the very unhealthy range, higher than Delhi, India. We have had a months-long drought, which is set to end Friday, which will begin months-long rain.

Juju, we have that too, combined with a new wildfire north of Portland near Camas. With that, there was also an inversion pretty much holding in all the smoke over Portland area. I went outside yesterday morning to go to the dentist and immediately had trouble breathing. I told people it smelled like I was sitting next to a campfire on steroids. Horrible.... the rain on Friday can’t come soon enough.

Interesting, our winds have changed and are blowing Westward, bringing an increase in heat. San Francisco might have record breaking temperatures today.
Here the skies are blue with some fluffy white clouds, not much of a breeze and temps are expected to go up to 90.

We finally got rain today after over two months of NO rain. Today was the first day that I got up at 7:15 am, and it was still full dark! Oh, what a drag! A woman in my morning water aerobics helpfully pointed out that between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31 we lose over 90 minutes of daylight at our northerly latitude of 48.8°. Luckily Bigdog and I are flying to TX for the winter in about 8 days.
