Oh that email. I got that one for a few weeks but I think they've given up on me.

I get calls from the electric company that say I have been overcharged by my electric supplier.

They want to correct the situation and I am given a number to call.

(I bet they will want my bank account number so they can deposit the money for me in my account. No thanks, just send me a check.)

Oh the porn one? LOL

I have had 4 links sent to me by "friends"...all with the same heading.

Best part was when I got one from a friend....who I actually was sitting with at the time!

Glad I haven’t gotten the porn ones yet. 🤪

I have received many about my SSN being dispensed, in broken inproper English.

I was just wondering if my SSN is dismembered does that mean I no longer have to pay taxes.? 😄

Interesting comment at the Alzheimer's conference today. One presenter mentioned that being susceptible to scams can be one early symptom of Alzheimer's.

Ok so not sure how new of a scam this is but...

Today we got a call from "James Brown from 6/49 Lottery alongside Publishers Clearinghouse". He quoted our name and address as a way to validate his call. We didn't pick up the phone so he left a call back number and extension

Please spread the word so that those who may be vulnerable don't fall for this or call the number back. (Undoubtedly they are going to want banking info to send you your "winnings")

Not new, but a good warning.

Publisher's Clearinghouse scams are so old they must be recycling back around. They were going really hot and heavy before the internet, 70's to mid-90's.

Has anyone tried to sell a car on Craigslist, there are so many different scams and you need to be savvy. I just unlisted it because I don’t trust anyone. I’ll try through Facebook.

Got a call yesterday and a time or two before. Nice sounding older man asks, "Is this (my first and last name)? I'm calling from Senior Services." Me, "Who are you?" Him, "I'm calling from Senior Services." Me, "NO." I hang up. Pretty sure after the fact, they just want me to say, "YES" so they can record me. If someone was calling about local senior services, they'd identify by county, township, state.

I got an email from amazon saying my prime membership was suspended because of some issue with my credit card. I knew immediately it was a scam because I pay my amazon membership yearly and besides I'm really not that stupid.

Someone signed up with netflix using my email address. So of course all the netflix emails came to me. I looked it up and it seems that people are doing this a lot. So I just went to netflix directly, tried to sign in with that email address, pretended I lost my password and had them send me the reset email. I changed the PW, logged in and cancelled the account. They ask why you are cancelling and I said someone signed up with my email address and it wasn't me.

Before someone asks, no I didn't use any of the links in the emails (except the password request email that I requested), although I do think they were legit emails since there really was a new account using that email address of mine.

Me too Roxip and Naja on both Amazon and Netflix. I also keep getting emails that my virus protection has expired and that they will just go ahead and renew my prescription for $399.95 with credit card on file. It says to call them if I don’t want them to. I don’t know what the motivation is that they want me to call them.

I've had the same problem with netflix. I had called them many times about it. We reset the password to some random letters that no one could ever figure out to save my email but changed my account to a different email. The person using my email is in another country. So I would get password change requests in spanish all the time. I took netflix's advice and just marked everything netflix to that email as spam. It finally stopped.

So I just got this email from "Gov.us" titled "Coronavirus Alert".

The email says that I was recorded leaving my house on three occasions yesterday and that a $58 fine has been added to my gov.us account. I had to laugh at this one. There is a link (that I didn't click on of course) to view my "account".

Has anyone else gotten this one?

No, but there are lots of scammers looking to extort money, get a hold of stimulus money, unemployment, etc.

I am getting call after call from the “Department of Social Security” about the suspension of my SSN because of illegal or criminal behavior. Phone number is spoofed local number so because of work I sometimes answer. Heavy ancient Indian accent. I laugh and hang up if I bother to answer at all.

I got a couple of those today. What I do these days if I suspect it is a spoofed number, I pick up the phone and don't say anything for a couple seconds, and it if is a robocall, it hangs itself up as unanswered, as the junk calls seem to be voice-activated. Sometimes I answer as "Sheriff's office on a recorded line, go ahead." Bigdog sometimes answers as County Humane Society. Tonight he answered as Biden Campaign Headquarters. We would normally not even answer the apparently spoofed phone numbers, but with a pandemic going on, many of the doctor's apptmt schedulers and reminders are working from home, and we are OLD, so we get lots of those legit type calls.

The phone rang at 8:00 a.m. That is too early for anyone to call. This is the Social Security Administration.... !

The scammers have recycled the “we’ve discovered a problem with your computer” scams again. One is the Apple I-Cloud version, the other is an issue with your Microsoft operating system. Seems I hadn’t gotten either for months but the last few days there has been a number of calls. I guess they figure people have forgotten from the last round of these scam calls.

New phone scam here is a call from the sheriff’s department. A person claiming to be LT Sharpe calls to say there has been a bench warrant issue for your arrest for failure to report for jury duty. I haven’t gotten one but what has been reported is that “LT Sharpe” is very prepared with information like your full name, address, etc. It apparently is very practiced and convincing. Of course the resolution is to pay a fine via a cash card of some type and provide him the number. The timing of the scam is interesting since we still don’t full up jury trials here because of the pandemic.

Here's a new one.

Recorded message that says I have made a purchase on Amazon for $300 (something) on Amazon with my Visa card. If I want the item, do nothing. If I didn't make that purchase call Amazon (at a different number than the number that called) to cancel the purchase.

Yeah, no thanks.

LOL, Karuuna, I have been getting emails like that for Amazon and Apple purchases, and now that you mention it, I have had a lot of hang ups on my answering machines lately.
