I was actually all teared up as I was cheering when my Cubbies won the pennant tonight for the first time in my lifetime. I have been a diehard Cubs fan since I was 11 or 12 and spent the summers watching Cubs games with my Granny. Granny turned 100 on July 5, and to put things in perspective, this is only the second time she has seen the Cubs win the pennant, and she has never seen them win the World Series, because the last time they won it was in 1908. 8 years before she was even born. If my Granny finally gets to see her Cubbies win the World Series for the first time, I will be so happy.

I hope they win it all, Naja, for your Granny Joan! Did the Cubs ever respond to that letter you sent them last year?

W World Series baseball related. In '91 I was working in Chicago for an attorney originally from Minnesota. He had framed Sports Illustrated covers of batters from Twins World Series team in the '80s on his office wall that his wife had given him. I didn't follow sports. Could I maybe get their autographs if they're still with the Twins? Thought of calling, but I didn't. Then I thought -- it's worth a try. I called the Twins. Got the right PR person. As I remember, she said she was busy but would get me something. I called and wrote just couple times about it. She always remembered me. She was busy. The '91 Twins won the Series again! I called Denise one more time. She said some one there in the Twin Cities had requested a game ball, but didn't pick it up. She said she would send it to me. Got it on December 23. (I had that game ball signed by the team in my own hand!) Gave it to attorney Jerry. I had been telling him, "Jerry, you're gonna die." (Hadn't told him what the birthday gift was.) He didn't die, but he was speechless. I tried to talk to him, but he couldn't for a while. Best gift I've ever given. A matter of luck and a couple dollars.

The Cubs' Kyle Schwarber was added to the roster for the World Series! This means they might use him as a pinch hitter.

They ended up putting Schwarber in 5th position, but it doesn't do any good when his teammates aren't getting any hits This first game is breaking my heart. Oh well, it's just going into the 8th. Maybe something good will happen for my Cubbies.

I still can't believe that on Friday we will be watching the very first World Series game at Wrigley Field in my lifetime. Win or lose, I am enjoying all of this so much.

Exciting day. Both of these teams have waited a long time for this! Since I know more Cubs fans, I'm cheering for them.

LOL, Kappy... that's me too. I can't remember the last time I watched a baseball game, but this is historic.
