What do you all think about the swimmers 'robbery'? I sorta wonder if the taxi driver, that they can't find, set them up.

Well, I have been hearing some interesting stories, like maybe Lochte was out trying to score drugs, not saying that is true, but it is pretty shady that he got out of dodge and left his buddies there to deal with the fall out.

My, my, my, they just did a story about it, it does sound a little shady, but I imagine it will all blow over. Also, I thought it was interesting that Lochte didn't want to say anything because they thought they broke some Olympic or Swim Group rule and didn't want to say anything. And the video of them checking back, they looked fine.

There was footage on the news today of most of the swimmers arriving back home from Michael Phelps to Katie Ladecky to Simone Manuel. It was not just these four who were scheduled to go home today. I think Rio is embarrassed by this story getting the attention it did due to the celebrity of Lochte. To have a "warrant" to detain a US citizen at the airport and take his passport is beyond appalling to me unless they come up with a heck of a lot more evidence than the flimsy footage of them arriving back where they were staying. I'm appalled at the authorities in Rio and the extent to which they are taking this.

And yes, I agree that Ashton Eaton is one fine looking man. I love the commercial he does with his wife where they both keep trying to beat the other. Talk about a super couple!

Bolt is fun to watch because I think it's obvious that he loves what he's doing and has fun doing it. Every time I watch, he's wearing a big smile.

My favorite Bolt moment was when he turned right to the camera at the finish line and gave it a huge smile. So happy for Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali and Kristi Castlin for taking a sweep of all the medals in the 100m hurdles.

And it comes out, 3 drunk boys made up a story to cover their asses, LOL, I expect when the two get back to the states they will say they only made up the current story to get out of Brazil. AND why did they even need a story, they handled their problem...but maybe they were afraid it would get reported and they would look bad.

AND WOMENS RELAY....what obstruction, hands didn't meet so that was an obstruction? No one else was in the lane with them....I hope they show some better tape to explain this, or maybe just drop it and move on, although it feels really shady.

OK, MY BAD, the Brazilian runner did hit the US girl which thru her had out and caused the baton miss. They did show a better tape of what happened. BUT why do we, the US, have such a problem handing off batons, this is not the first time this has happened.

I mean seriously, the men have issues too, can we start putting "stick-em" on the baton or something. Or is that illegal. Darn, I hate when people get DQ'd for false start, I thought that everyone got a second chance but I have noticed them kicking people out for false start.

Like Dipo, as many times as I've seen the tape of the Brazilian knocking the American runner's arm, I still can't see it but I do trust that the powers that be know the truth. As for Lochte and group, none of this would have even come out if his mother had not gone to the media with the story. Nothing adds up. I've seen the video at the gas station and there's no signs of them causing damage there. You just see three security guys escorting them back to the taxi. Talk about a mountain out of a mole hill all because someone wanted her baby to have more air time. (That's simply my opinion - no facts there.)

Kappy, the other view I saw it is clear that the Brazilian's arm hit the US's arm, and knocked her a little. She was really close to the lane line and they talked about how she may have stepped into the US lane. I couldn't see that but the bump was clear. I just wanted to know if they US meets the time qualifier do they bump someone or do they just add another lane. Earlier I heard they have 10 lanes and only 8 are currently filed. Oh man, I bet you are correct about Lochte's Mom. She should have kept her mouth shut, bet she regrets that now since it could damage his ability to get endorsements.

I see there is a tribute to the Karolys on now. no mention of the abuse of course. They are jsut the bestest people ever with demanding standards and it is the fault of the girls for not performing to it.

Wow, the Ukraine and Chinese Synchronized Swimmers were fabulous! The are showing the prelims, and there may be some on primetime tonight. I watched The Brazilians on stream earlier today and they were really cute but not as good as these two teams.

Wow, Japan, really looks great as well, their suits show up really well in the water, they are sort of neon green. Leslie (from Ghostbusters) is posting tweets with videos and she said after watching the SS she was going to have to work on her entrances, LOL. The teams were pretty dramatic on their initial entrances to the pool area.

In regards to Ryan Lochte and the other swimmers, I'm disgusted with the media claiming they "fabricated" a story, in which they were robbed at gun point. I read today that a security guard at the gas station pulled a gun on them, to get money from them for supposed damages in the bathroom. How would a security guard know how much damages cost? How much money did he get and where is it? Why not tell the owner and charge the athletes, or the US Olympic team, directly? I think when this story first came out and other athletes began telling of similar crimes against them, some official in Brazil thought they needed to save face. Everything was fine after they gave their initial statements. But then we hear a judge didn't think they were robbed, bc they were not reacting in a way she thought they should, when they returned to the Olympic compound. How is someone supposed to act when they have been a victim of a crime? Is there one way where we all must know, a book to be read, therapists to relay information about? People who are victims of a crime all act differently, and people tend to remember things in different ways, not identically. And if people are drunk and victims of a crime, their memories are likely altered by the alcohol, but it doesn't mean nothing happened. It seems to me, like I said above, I think some official in Brazil thinks they need to save face. It's possible the swimmers thought the security guards were criminals pretending they were the police, but the security guards robbed them, at least one at gun point, taking only their money. Or, to be fair, the swimmers thought they were being robbed, but the security guards, rather than tell the owner and have that person seek damages from the swimmers, were only asking for money, one at gunpoint, for whatever they allegedly did to the bathroom. Or the swimmers made the whole thing up because, uhhhh, hmmm, dunno. I don't see any reason why these swimmers would fabricate anything, it makes no sense. Lets say they did mess up the bathroom, why say anything at all, what benefit would it do for them? I find it sad that some official in Brazil has taken it to this. I think the Olympics has been wonderful until now. There was no problem, but like I said above, all of a sudden, when other athletes started to tell their stories, this happened. Very sad. I don't doubt that the remaining swimmers will say what they need to, to get home. And I don't blame them. I hope they return safely, as I do all the athletes.

I just want to know.... was the security guard speaking Portugese or English. It could have a great impact on the perception of the swimmers.

American swimmers were vandals, not victims Rio de Janeiro (CNN)Four American Olympic swimmers lied when they said they were robbed at gunpoint during a night out in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian police said Thursday. Instead, the athletes concocted a story to cover up their act of vandalism at a gas station that led to a confrontation with security guards, said Civil Police chief Fernando Veloso at a press conference. "The surveillance tapes show that there was no violence against the athletes at the gas station," Veloso said. "Their claim that they are a victim of an assault or robbery or any kind of violence is not true." ..... While all of the athletes may have played a role in the vandalism, the principal troublemaker was 32-year-old Lochte, winner of six Olympic gold medals, who got into an angry, drunken confrontation with security guards, Veloso said. Just walked in door, on radio while driving they just announced indictments for Lochte and one of the other swimmers, but I don't see link online yet.

Looks like my radio station was not exactly on point, indictment recommended but hasn't happened yet? Brazilian Police recommend US swimmers be indicted. Eta, just noted a paragraph that address' the translation issue: The athletes initially refused to stay at the gas station, but security asked the taxi not to leave. Another person stepped in to translate between the athletes and the guards, and the athletes left money, police said. Police said that witnesses were initially afraid to speak to police.

That's true, language could have been a barrier as well. Although I think the gun would have been very clear. An indictment? Awful. The officials can spin the video into anything they want, as long as the security guards go along with it. If they actually vandalized anything, then why didn't the security guards call the police and report them? No police called for a huge problem these swimmers were causing? Instead, they pull a gun on them and take their money? None of this makes any sense. I would not doubt it if Ryan went along with it, so his teammates would be allowed to go home. Terrible and very sad.

They did call the police Stormie, or at least that's what I think I read. After the swimmers got back into taxi the police arrived and that's the video footage of them getting back out of taxi with arms in air. Yes... If you read the CNN article above: A police source previously told CNN that police officers were called by the station's security guard, but by the time they arrived, an agreement had been reached between the owner and the athletes and it was decided charges would not be pressed.
