Realized last night at midnight that I'd actually made a themed St. Patrick's supper by making asparagus soup - green as green can be! LOL Tonight we had corn salad/quinoa burritos.

My mom would make it. I remember her grinding the meat. Found it at our local butcher shop. It does taste like mom's.

It cooled off here so I am having Trader Joe's Minestrone Soup with Oyster Crackers. Their Minestrone is one of the best I have ever had!

Tonight, Tuesday night, is our first cookout of the season. Today at the store I got the bratwurst and buns and all the side fixins. It's taking all my self control not to go in the fridge and dig into the coleslaw.

The husband said he's taking care of dinner tonight....making his favorite sloppy joe. I don't know what he does but it's really good. We always eat fritos and corn on the cob with his sloppy joe.

I don't know what that is, Naja. Is it a pasta? I made chicken kebabs.

Yes, Jimmer, it's the pasta that looks like little tubes, cut at the ends on a slant. http://images.edge-generalmills.com/c5fd46b5-e615-41e9-8470-04bb3e5dbf77.jpg

I always thought that was penne but pasta has so many interesting shapes and names. It sounds good!

I looked it up and I guess they both are almost the same except for the texture. I just know the box of pasta I always buy says Mostaccioli on it. I also saw that it's only called Mostaccioli in America. In Italy the same thing is called penne lisce.

If anybody is interested, I love this garlic! Litehouse Garlic. It's minced and freeze dried, and I promise you it's just as good as fresh garlic in recipes. I get it at walmart. https://www.litehousefoods.com/products/instantly-fresh-garlic

Tonight it's strip steaks (small ones, about 8 OZ), bakes potatoes, and steamed asparagus. I have some real sour cream left over from a recipe for the potatoes, so that will be a treat. I usually have the fat free stuff, but it's not the same.

That sounds great. How do you cook them? We're having home made burgers. In the winter I start them on a cast iron grill and then broil them in the oven. In the summer I barbecue them.

Tonight we are cooking them on the outside gas grill. When the weather is bad, I usually put them on the George Foreman grill.

Oh that sounds good, Naja! (As did the Mongolian beef recipe but I didn't see that one earlier.) We're having our traditional home made burgers!

It was our 27th anniversary, so we grilled out venison steaks and I made garlic mashed potatoes. It was our one meat meal of the week, and with the hot weather coming up, I suspect we'll be doing more fish than red meat - salads, grilling, veggies, and fruit are our summer usuals.

Happy Anniversary, Teach! Jimmer, you have to try the corned beef cabbage soup recipe. In a crock pot put A corned beef 2 cans chicken broth 2 cups water 1 packet Lipton onion soup mix 2 hours before you serve, put in 2 bags of the pre-shredded coleslaw cabbage you get in the produce department. It even has shredded carrots in the slaw mix. After the cabbage mix cooks down a bit, a couple hours, serve. It's so yummy.
