He made me laugh when the interviewer asked him if he was ok and Tony said he was a fine physical specimen and he owed it to his strict fitness regime.

Yeah, you have to give Tony credit for having the grace to make fun of himself and take full responsibility for a wreck that costs millions of dollars to car owners (and probably took him out of the championship chase).
I also think Michael Waltrip is a bitty bit responsible too.
But hey, that's racing at Talledega, right?

Messed up a lot of the chase drivers. Clint dropped down to 5th (he was in top 10 finish or even top 5 possible).
Amazing all that speed and flipping and fire, and everyone walked away!!

Tony was leading at the time of the wreck and dropped to 6th or 7th in points...but how in the HECK did Jimmy Johnson stay in 2nd place when he was also involved?
It was a horrible thing to lose Dale Sr. that way, but the safety measures that have probably come more quickly because of his death have really shown results - the safer barriers, the Hans (and Hans-type) devices, the safer seats in the cars, the full-face helmets - have really changed the sport (and isn't it funny that he was opposed to all of them!).

Glad to see Brad come out ahead in the points yesterday.
I guess Jimmy is not that popular. I heard lots of cheering when he had to pull his car into the garage.

Thank goodness. They have redesigned the nascar.com website and I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to come up here at work...so annoying! I'm missing my nascar news!

Bummer! I can't even get the nascar website to totally "come up". I usually am anxious to print out the schedule for truck, Nationwide and especially Sprint Cup. If anyone can guide me, hubby & I would be much happier.
At least we don't have long to wait for the season to begin. We are READY!

Roxip, I can't stand the new layout of NASCAR.com. It took me well into last season before I got used to the last redesign, and I can't find anything in the new one, if it even loads. I wish that they would keep one layout and leave it alone.
Whoo hoo!!! Just 6 more days!

I can't wait. I'm on a huge internet at work, whatever the latest bells and whistles...and the new nascar.com will not load up there - not sure if it will at home. I just go to the Charlotte Observer racing page if I want to catch up on racing news...lol.

Hope those people are okay. I heard on the radio this morning one of the guys still in the hospital say that the worst part about it was that he was going to miss the 500...LOL! Can't keep a NASCAR fan down!

So, I'm not much of a racing fan, but yesterday, I turned on the Daytona 500 just in time for the first pitstop of the race. I was utterly amazed to hear the "good old boy" announcers questioning whether or not Danica Patrick would be able to manage/manouver through the pit area without incident. At first, I did not think I heard them correctly. I kept thinking really?, you really said that? Unfortunately, they continued on in the same vein until she successfully made her pit stop... then they shut up because it was clear that she knew what she was doing.
Since she drove Indy cars for many years and has driven in Nascar races before, I could not believe they said something so stupid and possibly sexist. I just had to vent.
