I am on the baseball shirt page again and I swear it God it says $13 again! I didn't purchase it yet, so I am going to try again now. If it changes back again, I'll be ticked.

Naja, just wanted to let you know that you're not alone.

I was looking for a certain planter in the shape of a fish, and I came across a koi wall hanging planter that's sold on ebay. I thought it'd make a nice Christmas present for my bil. It was $49.40 and they only had 2 left.

I bought it, and when I went right back to the listing, the price for the last one was raised to $53.99!

I took the dogs to the groomers for the first time in ages. It was supposed to be under $100 for both of them for the "bath and brush" which includes nail clipping. So I drop them off at 7 AM, and 5 hours later they were finally done and I went to pick them up.

So I go to pay the bill and they want $165!!!
I said "But all they got was the bath and brush."

And SHE says "They needed an extra brushing because they were shedding a lot."

I kept my cool, paid, walked out, and vowed not to use them again. Does this extra charge seem reasonable to you guys? My dogs are both short haired. I've posted a zillion pics of them.

I need to get my dog's nails cut tomorrow. I'll try to remember to ask how much for a bath and brush is. What breed of dog should I say it is, so they have an idea.

But they should have called you first to let you know.

Do they have thick undercoats? That can be more work. Still they should have called you for approval for the extra charge.

I don’t think they should quote you a price and then randomly charge you more money without prior approval. That’s ridiculous.

I went to my local pet store yesterday. He also has a grooming section there, also. I asked the owner about your situation, Naja. He was completely flabbergasted by it.

He said when a dog comes in, the head groomer comes out, checks out the dog (for things like undercoats, etc) and tells him how much to charge.

If it ends up taking more time, etc, he eats the cost. He said what is making an extra $50 going to do for him in the year if the customer goes away unhappy and never comes back? Nothing. He said at a minimum the groomer definitely should have called you ahead of time to talk to you about it.

And now looking back at your post, she charged you an extra $32.50. each for the second brushing. That sounds excessive to me and I live in NY, where everything is way more expensive.

So, if a wash and a brush was $50, and the brushing cost $32.50, does that make the washing and blow drying $17.50? Something doesn't add up. And don't forget the nail clipping! That's $13 alone where I go. Say it's $10 where you are, that makes it $7.50 for the wash.

BTW, I asked him how much it would cost to do the same treatment for my old dachshund. He said they don't do just wash and brushing. They also, clean the ears, anal express, nail clipping and something else I can't remember for $78. I'm going to try in a week or two to do it. My dog starts to get seasonal skin allergies this time of year. I've been having back problems lately and I'm just not up to it.

Would they do anal express just routinely? Maybe some breeds are prone to needing that.

I don't have any experience using a groomer. We maintained our own Labradors for show.

I have had KATNISS nail trimmed in her wilder days.. So much smaller but more fierce than a lab.

Naja, they definitely should have called you!

RN I thought I posted and now I can't find it.

I wanted to add that they only call it "bath and brush" at my groomer, but it includes anal expressing (if needed) and nail clipping.

I had a bag of sauerkraut in the freezer and decided to cook it yesterday.

It tasted really good.

My gripe is it said "serving size, 2 tablespoons"

I ate way past that. How did they come up with that serving size suggestion?

How do you even measure sauerkraut with a tablespoon?

It's probably the amount you'd put on a hot dog.

And they probably chose a a small serving size so you don't realize how much salt is in it.

But it's a fermented food, so it has that going for it!
