Teach, I'm glad I posted!! I'm almost finished reading Dragonfly in Amber. Since downloading the audio books, I just had to listen to the first chapter of Outlander and I'm really enjoying hearing Davina Porter's voice read to me with the pronunciation of some of those words . . . for me, this brings an enrichment to the story so I'll probably listen to, rather than read, Voyager next.

I started listening to them when I was doing a lot of driving for grad classes. Now, if I don't have another book to listen to, I listen to them while getting ready. Except for Ashes and Echo, I think I've listened to all of them 3 or 4 times - it really makes me notice details I've missed when I'm reading.

Eggie.. we do have a thread for audio books, but I suspect you will get more readers in this thread anyway..
I finished Growing Up Amish.. not scintillating but actually gave more insight on why some people go back and forth and back and forth and what the pull back might be. And more about the differences between communities of Amish across the US and Canada.
Starting now on Jane Goodall's Through a Window: My Thirty Years With the Chimpanzees of Gombe which has at least an updated intro, since it has been 50 years since she started working with the chimps in Gombe. This is probably for that anniversary, but was a kindle book deal of the day recently, so I snagged it.

I just read a trilogy by authors Christine M. Butler and Jennifer L. Oliver called "The Awakening Trilogy." It was a pretty good read (although for some reason there were numerous spelling mistakes and that drove me crazy!) but I was not happy with the ending...but I think there will be more spinoffs from the book using other character's stories. It is a witchcraft/vampire/FEY story...clear as mud, right?

I've made it through a lot of Deborah Smith books lately and finished the latest Robyn Carr. Getting kinda tired of repetition. I've heard that 50 shades of gray is like literary porn. Anyone have any good suggestions?

I just finished the Carole King autobiography Natural Woman. I think you'd enjoy it if you like her music. It was more on her music career and less on her personal life. She sure left her kids a lot.
Just started Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan. It about a woman who survives a ship sinking ala Titanic and her experience in a lifeboat. Very good so far.

My boss's husband has just published his first novel, his second time at being published. His book is picked as one of Amazon's Top Choices. It is called Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk if anyone wants to give it a try. (His name is Ben Fountain.)

Finally finished the Jane Goodall book and have to say it dragged a bit.. but still interesting. I find her amazing in person, in interviews and the recent 50 year video she did.

I read Defending Jacob...very good book and a real surprise ending. The ending puts the whole story in perspective. I'm reading another of Landay's books.

That sounds good (Defending Jacob) and I thought I saw somewhere an endorsement from Jodi Picoult, whose plots would fit in with this one, but don't think I want to pay the elevated price for it on Kindle, so hoping it will drop in time. It definitely sounds like one I want to read.

Jag, the ending really did take the book to another place. Being a parent, I can only imagine. I really liked it.
I'm now reading Love is Murder by various authors. It's for review but so far, eh. Many of the stories involve characters in the authors' books and I haven't read them so it kind of takes away from the stories.

I just finished The Accident by Linwood Barclay, it was excellent.
I met Joy Fielding a couple of weeks ago at a library function. She was a very good speaker and a funny lady.

Seamonkey - I agree that the Kindle elevated price for Defending Jacob is ridiculous. Also the price on Kindle for 11/22/63 is outlandish!!
Won't buy either one of them on Kindle...
