"In Time" Interesting allegory for the "Rich get richer, the poor get poorer". Holes in the production (you don't have perfect makeup when you are on the run) and having EVERY adult be 25 makes it weird to watch parent/children interaction (but that's the idea). Some surprise cast members (didn't know who was in it beside the leads Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried). I gave it 2/4, konashark said 3/4.

Tower Heist-this is coming from someone who rarely sees movies in a theater. It was OK. Id give it 2 1/2 out of 5 stars. I pretty much enjoyed it and I didnt have anything better to do but you cant definitely wait til its on DVD.

No, I haven't. I've seen the previews a few times. I asked DD, she hasn't heard of it either. I think it was a book?

Apparently Roger Ebert's review show is ending next month.

I grew up with TinTin books, I used to read them in German. Can't say I was ever a fan and the movie doesn't strike my fancy either.

Sad news about Ebert's show. Hopefully they can figure out an alternative. Maybe something online.

I never watched the new incarnation but agree that it's too bad. Ebert has a blog entry about it if anyone is interested. Seems to be about money not ratings.

I'm dogsitting now for my friend whose husband is in the biz and gets all the Oscar screeners...lots of good stuff I hadn't seen (I'd missed lots of films this year) and some crap I can't believe they send out screeners for. The best I've watched so far have been The Artist (best film of the past couple years I've seen) and J Edgar. Some of the screeners they send out, though, are just silly. Brides Maids? Does anyone think that'll get a nomination for anything at all? Or The Descendants? Maybe the studio sent it out to make George Clooney happy, but come on. They'll keep me busy for a while though.

I fully expect to see Clooney and Decendants nominated! But the Bridesmaids thing is puzzling. Saw them talking about it on some entertainment show last night. If Bridesmaids gets Oscar nominations, then it's a really weak year.

Bridesmaids is probably looking for writing, and supporting actress nominations.

Another one I'd never heard of that turned out to be better than expected: Young Adult. Less good: The Tree of Life. Next up: A Dangerous Method. Weird how many of these I've never heard of.

I just noticed that The Help is here too. Viola Davis maybe deserves an Oscar for it, but God I hate that film. Still. Now watching The Adjustment Bureau on HBO. I love Matt Damon but wow that film is not good IMO

"Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". Intense. Longer than we thought - but it seemed two separate movies that merged in the middle. Excellent acting. Hubby & I felt like we were solving the mystery along side the characters. Main character definitely has daddy issues. Rape scenes were mildly graphic, but at least we were emotionally prepared. Not for children!!!! She does get naked a couple times. Neither of us had read the book. Leaves plenty of room for sequel (I guess there are more books).

Kona did you ever see the first Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? I'd like to see if it's comparable. But I'm beginning to think its not because the rape scene in the original was graphic.
