I LOVE Clint Eastwood movies, and I really thought I we had seen the last movie starring Clint Eastwood, but here's another one! Yes! Cry Macho (2021) Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcRFKdLZ0e8 It's about an old washed up rodeo star/horse breeder who is hired by his old boss to go to Mexico to steal back his teen son from a life of crime and his alcoholic mother. It's based on a book of the same name. In theatres and HBO-MAX September 17.

Tick...Tick..Boom! on Netflix is a must see. It's the film adaptation of Jonathan Larson's semi-autobiographical musical (the genius behind Rent who died too young) and it's directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda... starring Andrew Garfield. If you love musicals, if you love Jonathan's work, if you love never giving up, you are hooked in the first minute.

Just finished Slumberland on Netflix. What a wonderful movie! It is visually stunning. Jason Momoa, Marlow Barkley, Kyle Chandler, Chris O'Dowd are fabulous. It also has a wonderful "message". I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I want to see the Barbie movie too! While I was more of a Tuesday Taylor fan, the whole fashion doll and clothes and accessories was such a part of my childhood. I still like walking down the Barbie isle of a toy store and dreaming!

It’s one where I’ll definitely have to see how you all review it, before I see it.

Must see Burial on Amazon Prime. Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones at their best, but all the acting was great, especially “Hal” played by Mamoudou Athie. It’s not only great legal drama, but raises important racism issues in both subtle and direct ways.

It's Oscar night! Here is my rundown: I’ve seen nearly all of the movies in the major categories this year including all five international films. I’m rooting for Mikey Madison for Anora and Timothee Chalamet for A Complete Unknown. Here’s my rundown of them generally in order of films I liked the most first, and the least last. Wicked is my favorite. I just love it. Turning a beloved musical into a movie is always risky and this one pays off. A Real Pain is a gem. I enjoyed this film immensely and it should have been a best picture nominee. I’d love to see Kieran Culkin win the best supporting actor award. A Complete Unknown is engaging and so well done. I have never owned a Bob Dylan album, but this film drew me right in. Highly recommend. Anora is a funny and raw and gritty independent film. Mikey Madison’s performance is impressive. I liked this film a lot. The Apprentice – it’s very good. I know no one wants to see him on their TV, but it tells you a lot about how we got here. The performances warrant a look. I’m Still Here is about a woman who survives the military dictatorship in 1970’s Brazil. It is a powerful story about enduring. It is based on a real woman and a real family. It’s very good. Emilia Perez – I saw this before all of the controversy, and I was very impressed by the choreography and musical numbers. It’s a unique film and I appreciated what it presented visually. The Seed of the Sacred Fig – I feel like the ads for this film mislead as it’s not a big thriller. It’s a slow burn with a lot of mood that takes a while to build the tension, but it held my interest. Nickel Boys – I appreciated the impactful story, but the “how” about this film, with the constant perspective shots turns into a distraction. At times it felt like a film school exercise when I just wanted to see performances and be absorbed in the story. The technique kept me at arm’s length. The Girl with the Needle – a black and white "gothic nightmare"set in 1919, this Danish film is loosely based on real events and is grim and disturbing. Maria – it deserves its cinematography nomination and I’m honestly surprised Angelina Jolie didn’t earn a best actress nomination. I don’t like opera at all, but there are things to appreciate in this film. The Substance – the first 3/4 I could watch, but the last part was so bloody and gross I had to look away for most of it. It’s an interesting concept and has some style, but I just don’t like the gore. The Brutalist – I can appreciate the performances however there just isn’t anyone to like in this movie and it left me cold. Conclave was a disappointment. The performances are fine I just found it rather dull and at the end I just felt “so what?” It is not the mystery they claim it to be. Dune part Two – I get nothing out of these Dune movies. Beautiful, but I think if you haven’t read the book, you shouldn’t waste your time like I did. The animated movies that I saw are all wonderful, so I’ll give them a quick mention. Wild Robot is exactly what you’d expect – beautiful and full of feeling. Inside Out 2 is so important to help everyone understand feelings. Flow is a quirky little film about a cat’s adventures told only in images – no dialogue. I was so happy I saw it in a theater. Memoir of a Snail is a movie for adults – sad and yet hopeful.

This is the first time that I have not seen any of the nominated films or performances. There were a couple that I wanted to see, but they’d already left the theater.

Not really. My sister and I both thought it was a waste of our time. Best picture? What a laugh.

Too many F bombs in both movies. I think I would prefer the original Snow White.

It looks good. I liked Rachel Zegler in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (The Hunger Games). She can both sing and act.
