Over the weekend I got to 2 scary movies. Rings (2017) I really wanted this to be great, but it was just ok. I think I built it up too much in my head. At least they have finally graduated to video files instead of VHS. This time a college professor (Galecki) comes across the VHS tape in an old vcr and that's all I'll say to keep from spoiling. The second one I watched was Get Out! (2016) This was a silly fun horror movie. A young white woman (Alison Williams) brings her black boyfriend home to meet her parents for the first time, and he notices something very strange about all the black people her family knows.

Did you ever watch a crazy and badly made movie all the way through because you just had to see how it ended? I just did that. Asylum of Darkness (2017) Oh hell, I can't even describe this this movie. Here's the synopsis from imdb. After awakening in a mental asylum, a patient plans an escape to freedom, but finds an even more disturbing, supernatural world on the outside, one that threatens to keep him trapped in madness forever. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6357202/reference I see someone called it boring. It is not! It may not be very good or have great production value, but boring it is not. Ever wonder whatever happened to Richard Hatch from "Battlestar Galactica"? He's the evil doctor in this movie.

I couldn't make it past 20 minutes of it, Chewpito. It was so horribly bad and not anywhere near as funny as the preview made it seem.

That's too bad because that preview was very funny.

My teen and I watched "Get Out". It is silly and funny at times. And creepy too. And also has some social commentary and thought provoking things going on. I'd consider it a less gross, less scary horror movie. Thumbs up.

This one is a real mind bender. I enjoyed it. The Evil Within (2017) It's about 30 year old mentally handicapped man who makes friends with his reflection in a big mirror. The bad part is the reflection is evil and starts making him do evil things. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0339736/reference

This one was decent. It kept my attention. The Unspoken (2015) 17 years after an entire family disappeared from their house without a trace, another family is finally moving into the old house. A teenage girl takes a job as a babysitter for their strange little boy, and of course, all kinds of strange things start happening. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4229298/reference

I thought this one was good. It's more of a combo drama/horror. Anguish (2015 A teenage girl is suffering from identity disorder, except her other personality may be the spirit of another girl that recently died. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3620762/reference

I felt like I had to force my way through this one. It's wasn't the worst, but it wasn't very good. The Damned Thing (2015) "Three tales of horror are told from the narration of paranormal investigator Eddie Osborne to his newly hired videographer, as they document an abandoned hotel with supernatural occurrences." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3748076/reference

I liked this one. The Devil's Dolls (2016) After a serial killer is finally caught and killed, something he left behind causes even more murders to start happening in the small town. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3384350/reference

This one was sort of like "The Bye Bye Man", but not quite as good. It was ok though. I enjoyed it. The Man in the Shadows (2017) aka "The Shadow Man" A woman photographer starts being stalked by a black shadow wearing a hat. Of course her cheating fiance doesn't believe her, but she does find someone who believes her. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4363990/reference

This one was the kind of scary movie that is a lot of fun. Fear, Inc. (2016) The official synopsis says "A horror junkie and his friends sign up with a company that brings their customer's greatest fears to life", but it's more than that. The twists are predictable, but oh so much fun (and bloody). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3560148/reference

Not sure this one is scary enough for you, but my teen and I just watched Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Wow, was it creepy and spooky! We enjoyed it but I didn't expect it to be as scary as it was.

It wasn't really my kind of movie. I think I consider it more in the "fantasy" genre than horror. (Although I do love Eva Green)

Now this would have enjoyable if it didn't have the two most annoying actresses ever put in a horror movie. The Blind King (2016) aka "Dark Silence" It's about a single father with a mute daughter. There is some kind of force in the house taunting the daughter, but the father doesn't believe it until she is stolen by the force into in old armoire. He goes in to save her. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4951834/reference

This one was sick, gross, strange, and a little funny. The Black Room (2016) A couple moves into their dream home, but it has a secret room in the basement where in incubus lives. An incubus is a male demon that preys on women and has sex with them. The incubus possesses the husband and things get a bit crazy. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5431600/reference

Well that last one is listed right there in comcast on-demand movies under horror movies. I didn't watch it there, but that's where I got the title to go find it online. Right now there are 2,669 movies listed in the horror movies section of comcast on-demand. Almost every single movie in my posts above are listed there. If you list them by "most recent", then the new releases are listed first.

This one is sort of a ghost story. It stars the girl that plays Daenerys in "Game of Thrones". I really enjoyed it. Voice from the Stone (2017) Official Synopsis: Set in 1950s Tuscany, Voice from the Stone is the haunting and suspenseful story of Verena, a solemn nurse drawn to aid a young boy who has fallen silent since the sudden passing of his mother. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1544608/reference
