I'm not too comfortable with soulless Sam either but I'm still enjoying the show. Though I missed an episode-and-a-half, I keep forgetting it's on Fridays now. I did see the fairie episode - the title sequence nod to The X-Files was funny. You just knew Dean was going to get arrested for a hate crime! The ending was a bit weak but I'm hoping this all ties together somehow. I don't read spoilers but do know that this season is supposed to be about monsters and there's been repeated references to things being out of the ordinary since the Sam/Michael/Lucifier showdown so this all must be leading somewhere... Saw a Hallmark ad Sunday night with the actor who played Gabriel.

Thought this episode was the worst yet. This season just feels completely off. They're giving the actors absolutely nothing to work with. The Meg torture, and Castiel and the porn were both ridiculous. Are all the writers new this year?? I've always been a huge fan of Supernatural. But I'm having a hard time getting through an episode. I keep watching and hoping it will go back to the way it always was. I love to watch the old episodes on TNT. There's just something of that old magic that is missing.

castiel and the porn was not only stupid needless to the plot, it was offensive. he is supposed to be an angel, not an alien who has no idea about human nature the boner comment was completely unexpected and offensive - this is a pg 13 show.

It's all over the place. What once was meta subtext (angels, demons, eternal battle in heaven and hell, etc.) has now completely taken over the show. Very insular and creepy. I stopped paying attention at a basically-naked Meg getting tortured. Whatever.

Not a good episode, I agree. They've already messed up Castiel's character though. I shuddered when he played that alternate version of himself as a stoned, horny guru type.

i thot that was a future version of castiel from when everything was done n finished/ hopeless. either way, yes this convoluted hell heaven angel war plotline has taken away the fun. the tongue in cheek comedy is gone too

Yes, it was a vision of what supposedly was going to happen (Sam had said yes to Lucifer, the world is ending, etc.). But it was just another example - and for me, the most annoying example - of how the show had made Castiel into Fonzie, someone the audience will cheer & applaud when he appears. When a recurring character because a breakout hit, it seems like shows feel compelled to change the character as a way to get them into the show more often and in different situations. Sometimes this works, say, Spike from Buffy/Angel, sometimes it becomes tiresome - Adam from Northern Exposure. Jmho, of course. I hope this won't be a case of dragging a series out too long. A finale was perfectly set-up with last year's story arc but then the show was renewed. I had thought maybe the convo Dean had with Mr. Death might play into this season but that hasn't happened yet. Remember how we buzzed about Chuck vanishing? Unless something happened in the epi-&-half I missed, that seems to be forgotten.

I think I saw Death make an appearance on the previews for the next episode, if I recall correctly.

Ahnicka - I saw that, too. Hope they play the "O Death" song again when he makes his appearance.

anyone catch yesterday's episode. I dont want to give out spoilers but there was some important plot concepts happening. i am very curious if sam will be okay or if Dean was tricked. also, Dean's task had a good twist to it. Makes a person think about things more deeply.

I kept thinking that Dean was right not to kill the kid in the hospital. I always like the way he doesnt accept the staus quo. I cant beleive that Dean trusted "Death" to put Sam's soul back in! The way he was screaming, didnt sound so good. If there important plot things happening, they went right over my head--I cant figure out what's happening on this show even when its spelled out for me.

we saw how far Sam was willing to go to remain 'as is'. I too was surprised Dean trusted death to come back with Sam's soul... i mean, I thot Sam was marked to be lucifer's vessel. Whos to say WHOM is going to end up in Sam's body? maybe it will be the brother who is down there with sam and Death made a mistake. Either way, i hope we get old sam back. This show has lost a fair amount

I agree with Sunshyne. That "soul" might've been Lucifer's. This whole season everyone has been making a big deal about how things were messed up because the Apocolypse never happened. We also know that Heavan is at war and unable to watch over Earth. Let's see where this season goes from here...

Why is Heaven at war again? I forgot.

God is missing, and now Michael is too(he's in "The Pit" with Lucifer). I think it's supposed to be a power struggle among the Angels. I'm not real sure about the details, though.

this is a fascinating read - especially when seeing the similarity between all the listed religions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hierarchy_of_angels what it comes right down to is everyone Isnt equal, even in heaven. Since we, as humans, project our earthly experiences onto the idea of heaven, it makes sense that we'd forsee wars and infighting...... cause thats what humans do!!

Was it supposed to start up again tonight? I show it starting on February 4. Or were you referring to the repeats?

I wonder what the deal is. Last I had checked, it was supposed to start tonight, but now it looks like a repeat of Nikita. I was looking forward to it.

At the beginning of the week, it was on the schedule for tonight. It was on my DVR list, anyway. But now it shows 2/4 for start date. I was just wondering if anyone knew the reason it was pushed back a week.

Lycanthrope, from what it's being said at the Eonline forums, the reason is that they want to show yesterday's Vampire Diaries and Nikita today again. [Here’s the reason, according to a CW insider: The network wanted a chance to re-peat tonight’s return of Vampire Diaries and Nikita on Friday to give their midseason debuts some additional sampling. Diaries, in particular, is going up against Idol. Plus, there’s some local market pre-emptions that are going to mess with the scheduling of tonight’s shows in certain cities (Chicago and Baltimore, if you must know).

It was on, and was very interesting. Original Sam is back, so it seems. They seem to be unleashing all of the myth monsters this season. Dragons?
