(Btw, they used a prosthetic for the nude scene.)

Before the episode aired I saw a link about the Supernatural person in the episode, so naturally I couldn't wait and clicked on it, so knew it was him. Otherwise I don't know that I'd have recognised him, at least not for a long while, either. I never dreamt it would be a prosthetic! Seems... cumbersome.

Gee, I had to go back and look....I never picked up on the fact that it was Ackles in that pod! Oh yeah, there was a second prosthetic, too... Probably NSFW (but just text, no pictures)

Making a replica of his real butt for those closeups was a funny surprise, too.

Jared's got a job... https://tvline.com/casting-news/jared-padalecki-fire-country-season-3-cast-spinoff-rumors-1235318358/
quote:Fresh off his four-season run on The CW’s Walker, Jared Padalecki is relocating to Fire Country — and it might not be a short visit. Padalecki will have a three-episode arc in the CBS firefighting drama’s upcoming third season, our sister site Deadline reports. His character Camden is described as a “SoCal firefighter and maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s raw talent.” Padalecki has only signed on to recur as Camden, but Deadline is already reporting that the character could land his own spinoff, alongside the Morena Baccarin-led Sheriff Country.

I don’t watch Fire Country, but I will probably watch the episodes he’s in (obviously ;)). He was excellent the few times he had to play a different (inhabiting within Sam) character on Supe, but Walker was a bit like an extreme extra twitchy version of Sam. I’d like to see what he can do with a different kind of role… surfer swagger?!

My stuff finally arrived from the US and has been delivered to a storage unit, while we find a house. Guess what I noticed through the hand holes in a box? My boys! They called to me! It's the dvd box set I bought not long before I left, fearing a Supernatural free future! But I can actually get it on streaming here, it's on Amazon Prime, although there's some upset as apparently the first season doesn't have the original music due to some copyright issues. Not sure how much I'll notice it as it's just season one, no missing "Wayward Sons" or anything. Now I just have to find alone time to watch them, I am beginning to yearn...

Gee, when I convinced you to give "Supernatural" a shot, I never figured that you'd become their number one fan and that their 15 season show would shape parts of your life forever! Ya gotta get that Padelecki pillow. (Or not....yer hubby might start feeling like the second banana.) Maybe there's a small sized version of that life sized pillow that fits in your purse or pocket.) Anyhow, I'm very happy to see that your relationship with the Boys is a positive one....some people might've been more affected by the scary elements of Supe and wound up with a lifelong fear of demons, devils, and witches rather than an epic (albeit one-sided) love story. I'm happy to have been the one to introduce you to something that makes you so happy! You really gotta make it to a Supe-Con one day. You have so many memories of them out in the real world, and much of their professional lives all memorialized by photos and videos and celebrity news, etc... Just imagine if you got to actually TOUCH Mr Padelecki IRL! (Just don't pull me into it if/when you wind up arrested.)

It always surprises me when people post (on twitter/instagram) all the photos of them hugging the boys, there was a whole new batch of them this weekend for the Austin con. The boys literally allow, and actually encourage, their fans to line up to hug, pose or grapple with them! No hand shakes or polite side hugs, no, they're all in! I mean they do get paid $199 or whatever it is per photo, but they seem to enjoy it. And the fans talk about Jared or Jensen recognising them each time, and some have a collection of photos they've taken of them in different poses at different conventions. I'm afraid my repressed British upbringing precludes such activities, opting instead to just wistfully gaze at others' fortunes... Btw, Misha is 50 today. Not such boys anymore.

"Btw, Misha is 50 today" Angels have birthdays? I always thought they were hatched. So today is actually his 50th "hatchday", right?

Kitt. do you watch The Umbrella Academy? One of the actors (the gorilla man) is played by a main character from Black Sails...the actor is named Tom Hopper. I saw all of Black Sails and all of Umbrella Academy but it wasn't until this season that I suddenly noticed something. There was a scene where he looked just like Jensen Ackles...enough that I started wondering when Ackles first showed up on TUA. Then I realized it wasn't Ackles at all, it was Hopper. The resemblance only happens for me when the angle and lighting is just right. But this season I believe Hopper has a new haircut. He had a buzz cut on BS....but on TUA he definitely has a Jensen Ackles haircut, that transforms the top half of his head into the top half of Jensen's head. Below are two pix...the first one is Tom Hopper on TUA (screen grab from the episode) and the one below that is the same image, only with Tom's longer face squashed to Jensen-sized. It's a bit out of whack angle-wise. After I squeezed it I saw that it highlights how much they resemble one another when the setting is lit a certain way. Original Tom: Squeezed Tom: (This is where someone is supposed to 'Hey, Get a life!')

I found this and apparently my observation is a bit of a debate on Reddit: Jensen looks so similar to Tom Hopper (1 from Umbrella Academy)This doesn’t have much to do with the show but it’s neat https://www.reddit.com/r/Supernatural/comments/x4eho4/jensen_looks_so_similar_to_tom_hopper_1_from/

He really does look like him, especially squished in the second photo! In the real one he looks like a cross between Jensen and Justin Hartley. I don’t think I know the actor. I’ve thought about watching The Umbrella Academy, do you think I’d like it? It doesn’t have many episodes;).

"I don’t think I know the actor." So...you never watched Black Sails? He's a major character on that. Great series...I think you'd really like it. "I’ve thought about watching The Umbrella Academy, do you think I’d like it?" Hmmmm.....if you watched/liked Doom Patrol, The Boys, or other similar series with "misfit superheroes", I think you'd really like it. It's not as over the top as The Boys or Preacher but it is a story about a group of superheroes that are not part of the Avenger universe but are outsider/misfit characters with engaging stories. TUA had only 4 seasons and it recently ended. Definitely worth the time to watch the total of 36 episodes it had. One of the main characters is Ellen Page who played "Vanya Hargreeves" in the first 3 seasons....but in season 4 someone addresses "Ellen" (now Elliot IRL) as "Anya" and the reply was "I'm Victor now", and the reply to that was "Okay". No big controversy or explanation, just a change and acceptance. Nice touch.

Umbrella Activity caught my eye because of the change to Elliot Page. It seemed a bit like "The Magicians," which is why I thought maybe I should start it. I'll give it a go some time. It's not that I don't have free time here, I just feel I have to be sociable even when I'm not feeling like it . I'd discounted Black Sails because of the pirates, it might not be my thing with all the blood and blades .

You'll like it. When you finish TUA, just think about maybe watching an ep or two of Black Sails. I'm a bit surprised at the "blood and blades" worries.....I mean, Supernatural cut off Paris Hilton's head and left it on the floor and it didn't seem to elicit any anti-gore comments, not to mention all the demons that were sliced and diced weekly by those Boys. You will definitely enjoy TUA, though. Did you watch Doom Patrol? That's the one that's the most similar to the style of TUA.

I’m okay with gore where the people/things getting injured aren’t humans, or the instruments aren’t realistic, but with humans or real-ish situations I don’t like it. So Supernatural weaned me into shows like The Boys, but something with actual people like Outlander I found very hard to take at times. But I’ll give it a go after TUA as you recommend it ;). My hubby and I watched some episodes of Doom Patrol and liked it at first, but then got a bit bored, and trailed off watching it. Not sure how far we got, end of S1 maybe. We’re not not finishing it, but haven’t found much urge to do so so far.

I get that...DP was a bit slow and the characters were always depressed. I liked it for two reasons - the genre of misfit heroes and the fact that a main character was played by Matt Bomer (even though his face was covered in bandages all the time, except for some flashbacks). I can't even picture more than one killing on Black Sails...although I've never rewatched it since it's airing (it ended in 2017). I'd assume that there were was a lot of blood and guts type of deaths but no particular gory scene comes to mind except one, and that one was a scene that revealed some important traits of certain characters. (and it wasn't gratuitous...it was meant to be awful for a reason and even the characters were put off by it!) My favorite part of BS were the characters and how so many of them weren't like the way we think of them. The captain specifically had a lot of issues. Besides that, it did have some to do with Nassau and Providence Island which were "pirate islands" back in the day....a kind of sanctuary where the good guys (who were often bad) backed off and left the island and the bad guys (who were often good) alone. These pirates would go pillage and rob awhile and then go back home to their island homes. The story is based on the Robert Louis Stevenson book, Treasure Island. It's a fictional story but it uses a lot of real life history to tell it. Oh yeah...it does have Tom Hopper in it but he didn't make me think of Jensen Ackles even once! But Tom Hopper was a great character. I guess I think of BS as I would a western...you know some folks will get shot and die....but it's not thought of as a gory show, as far as I know.
