If possible, Dr. Odessey is just getting worse and less believable. Never been on a cruise, but I seriously doubt any cruise ship has such advanced surgical capabilities. And the writing/dialog is horrendous. Characters are flat and uninteresting... hard to like any of them. Even their attempt at making the Doc seem unusually accepting of differences (the Ken story line, and his subsequent death) was written so poorly it was hard mustering any empathy for any of them.

Dr. Odyssey is just plain awful. I love cruises. But loathe this show. It's unfortunate the trashy scripts seem to be pandering to airheads. The first ep was more than enough for me. A waste of time and a huge disappointment.

I gave Dr. Odyssey a second chance only to see how it might tie to the theory. Now I don't care if it does or not. I really dislike it and won't watch again.

Oh that's a shame, I was going to watch that. I do like Joshua Jackson.

Oddly, it's not doing as poorly in the ratings as I thought it would be.

Well, you have to suspend reality while you watch Dr. Odessy. I enjoy it as entertainment, it is just so out there. Who ever heard of a "plastic Surgery" cruise, it makes absolutely no sense with the things that can happen not to be near a real hospital. Don't forget Dr. Odessey must be a man of unlimited means and brought all the newest equipment onto the ship when he boarded, LOL.

Dipo, it is pretty out there, that's for sure. And I could go with that, if the writing were better. The dialog is mostly stupid, and the characters are flat and not all that interesting. I'll keep watching for awhile, tho. Hoping it gets better, but I'm doubtful.

The Ken story line seems to fit in with that theory. Interesting that the doctor became a fan of his when he was watching his reality show when he was hospitalized. He said something like watching that trash was a fun way to escape his hospital stay....maybe he was currently doing what he was talking about. The fact that right in the middle of the crazy theme weeks and all the perfection of the cruise ship, they suddenly flash to the very serious medical issues of the doctor just doesn't fit....his hospital stuff is in the past and the doc is apparently a happy gregarious guy, so why do they keep bringing up a past health issue right in the middle of the zaniness of the goings on of the ship....unless there is a connection? The ridiculous dialogue goes along with the unbelievable ship. Even his "cabin" is too perfect. It looks more like a huge luxurious 5th avenue penthouse apartment...and he's just the doctor, not the ship's multimillionaire owner. This ep reminded me of the show Nip|Tuck, another show that was an outrageous Ryan Murphy production. The "The Real Ken doll" is a real person and he even appeared on the show "Nip|Tuck" in 2014 (according to ALEXA) I'm convinced that something's up on the high seas here.

The problem with that theory for me is how do they resolve it? They'd need to eventually clue us in that none of these stories are real, and then why would we care about them?

I really have no idea how it could end. I did some more googling and found out what Joshua Jackson has to say about that fan theory, which has apparently become well known lately, and IMO, he was pretty candid about it: LINK to cosmopolitan.com

I only watched the first episode. The theory that the doctor is in a coma from covid makes perfect sense and it reminds me so much of the Britsh show Life on Mars. From wikipedia: Life on Mars is a British television series broadcast on BBC One between 9 January 2006 and 10 April 2007. It follows Sam Tyler (John Simm), a Manchester policeman in 2006 who wakes up after a car accident to discover that he has time-travelled to 1973, where he works the same job in the same location under the command of Detective Chief Inspector Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister) while attempting to solve the mystery of what has happened to him. In the show, he suspects he must be in a coma and keeps trying to come out of it and get back to the present time because at times he can hear the doctors and nurses trying to bring him back.

Thank you, Grooch. I thought of that show because of Odyssey Doc....but I couldn't remember its title or who starred in it and I was too lazy to research it.

Have you watched it? I've only discovered it not so long ago. I'm still on the first season because I wait for my bf to come out so we can watch it together.

Grooch: Aha! We are talking about 2 different series! Same title and story line but the one I watched was the US version. It starred Jason O'Mara and Michael Imperioli and it had only one season that was 17 episodes long. I did watch the whole thing but my main memory of it was my disappointment when it ended. I do remember the base story line pretty much as you described it, but not the details. As I recall, his mystery was revealed to the viewers, but I don't remember how. I have no idea what the UK version was like or how it ended. I do know that IMDB.COM shows that the UK version had 2 seasons with a total of 16 episodes....but I don't know how similar those eps were. I just read a spoiler about the US version's ending but I don't remember it at all. All in all I do remember that I did enjoy it. UK version: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0478942/?ref_=ttep_ov US version: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0787490/?ref_=ttep_ov

I only saw the U.S. version (which I loved). Great characters and a nostalgic, honest and funny look at life as a police officer in the 70’s. The British version is thought by many to be even better. About the ending: Spoiler Click below to view spoiler | The two series had very different endings with a completely different explanation for what is happening. The American version was pretty wacky but much much happier than the British version. |

Just a note about Dr. Odyssey, as we try to figure it out. Have you noticed that the walkway that has moving, animated, images in the arch, changes each episode? I'm trying to figure out if they mean something. Last week (wellness/holistic health week), they were all tablets and pills. Which I thought was an odd choice. This past week (Halloween), was a HUGE squid/octopus, and the glass fake-shattered as the new arrivals came thru, they even jumped at the sound. Just some food for thought!

I noticed that as well, the different things on the walkway. And Brilliant Minds was very good, such unique storylines it makes me wonder if some of the writers have experience in these areas. Maybe they had a family member or someone go thru some of these issues.

Dipo, I also wondered about the Brilliant Minds doc being named "Oliver", which was the name of another famous neurologist - Oliver Sacks. I mentioned him before as the author of The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. He had a number of other bestsellers too - including Awakenings, which was later made into a movie starring Robin Williams. Dr. Sacks also had right eye blindness, caused by melanoma. It does seem like this series is a subtle honor to all the advances made by him.

So I am just getting around to Tracker and I keep seeing political ads, yelling at my TV - That's a lie and why are you showing this, the election is over! Then I remember, this was taped Sunday, hahahahahaha.

How is Tracker? I read the first book and it was OK, but I wasn’t super impressed. But I love the actor. What’s the show like?

I like Tracker, Jimmer. If you're looking for deep, meaningful stuff, you won't find it. But if you're looking for simple storylines where the good guy wins... it's pretty feel good.
