I am looking forward to this one! I'm hoping it will replace the silliness I liked so much in the cancelled "So Help Me Todd". Still ticked off about that one

I guess I'm the fuddy duddy in the group. I love Kathy Bates, but why Matlock? Why not an attorney with a different name? Andy Griffith was unique and Kathy Bates is unique, so why copy something iconic instead of making something brand new. I don't get it. But I will give it a chance because it is Kathy Bates.

Sigh, I might be asking for a seat next to Weinermr but for other reasons. For me, it's a matter of her age and the idea that many my age and older just will not give their jobs up. I look at the number of politicians who refuse to retire until they're dead and it drives me crazy. I worked in education and remember one teacher coming back at 71 and bumping a young teacher out of her position all because she was bored in retirement. Don't get me started on the fact that that she insisted on using the science book from the 1960's. I fully understand that many older folk still have alot to offer but why not volunteer or mentor instead of taking a job away from someone younger who actually needs it? I'm sorry but it's just a pet peeve of mine right now with my own generation and when I first saw the commercial for this new Matlock, my first thought was 'here we go again'. But I also love Kathy Bates so what am I to do?!

I think they resurrect a show simply because it was very popular the first time around and they're just trying to make lightning strike twice...while also tweaking it to add some interest for current young people....like making the lead a woman instead of a man. Seems like they had a rebirth of a thousand old shows in the last few years....and the one thing they all have in common is a built in interest from the fans that watched it a few decades ago. Oh yeah....and Hollywood has pretty much run out of creativity, so they've gotten lazier. All the really creative shows aren't on broadcast TV...they're streamed and they have fewer restrictions regarding behavior and language in their shows. Streaming reaches the new generation of TV fans. When I want to know "why" the suits in the studios change something and reboot it, I always think "follow the money". They aren't trying to be creative. They're just hoping to capture their old audience to boost the ratings while adding new fans with a current social statement. Funny thing....I've had a TV Guide subscription forever....and the last decade or so I've noticed ads in it for the low tech Jitterbug phone for old folks, or the "fallen and can't get up" ads for old folks and even the crossword puzzle each week has a lot of "old people clues" about shows that aired in the 50s and 60s!

Here, I was hoping that her and Beau Bridges would fall in love…. Clearly That’s not going to happen. I sorta suspect that it won’t be one of the 3. However, this may be a bit like The Fugitive from way back, always searching but being detoured along the way…. If The Fugitive and Matlock has a baby.

Okay, so y'all talked me into watching it this afternoon. I never watch television in the daytime. It was a lot of fun, loved the twist.

I am hoping it is Beau Bridges and not the lovable Jason Ritter!

I think it is someone we havent met yet or it will be her boss. I feel she will grow to love her boss and see it is not as cut and dry as she thought

I liked the surprise twist. I dislike the continuity issues in shows. Mattie put on her very sparkly wedding ring set in the car, they weren't on when she hugged grandson, then back on in the study with her husband.

Oh, Sugar, I do the same. I'm constantly noticing things like that. Didn't catch it this time, though. We enjoyed it. It's definitely not a remake. I loved how they kept making references to old TV shows and the younger people would go, "Who?" Her hubby is the same guy who played Rose's husband on Lost. I don't know the actor's name, but I always like him.
