I recommend "KAOS". (Netflix referred to it as a "Netflix Myth"). It's an entertaining re-imagining of the Olympian gods, set in the present...and Zeus (Jeffery Goldblum) is a paranoid, power hungry, nutjob (and Jeffery Goldblum is perfect in the role) Check out the trailer: https://www.imdb.com/video/vi896976409/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_1_tt_7_nm_1_in_0_q_kaos I love the unexpected and this is unexpectedly unique (as you'll see in the trailer).

I was looking forward to watching Doctor Odyssey but couldn't get past 30 minutes. I'm curious as to what others thought. SFJosh ~ From the previews for KAOS, I couldn't get past seeing Goldblum as anything other than the Grandmaster in Guardians, lol! Let us know how you like his new show.

I just finished it and I'm already mourning it because it's over. (only 8 eps) I loved "Kaos"! It's listed as dark humor....and it has a lot of humorous situations with the kind of "dark" you might expect from any show about ancient mythology with gods who are selfish, angry, ridiculous, jealous, and with an innate inability to totally misunderstand everything about human beings. I laughed, I cried, I laughed and cried some more. I'd say it was sort of like "American Gods" but it wasn't. They share a similar premise about ancient gods in a present day world...but American Gods was much darker and hard for me to follow, yet I loved the richness of the production values. Kaos is pretty "out there", too, but it's very coherent and easy for me to follow and my only problem with it was trying to learn all the Greek names that usually end in "ius". But I could always figure who who they were talking about by the context. The cast was amazing. Goldblum made a most excellent megalomaniac god throwing tantrums and skeet shooting. You said "couldn't get past seeing Goldblum as anything other than the Grandmaster in Guardians" and I think I might have a problem of ever seeing him as anything but crazy Zeuss! (I was expecting an "apartments.com commercial Goldblum", but I just got a great actor. (I've never called him that before!) I didn't even realize that Debbie Mazur was Medusa until I looked it up after I finished the show. Chris Curtis ("Travis Manawa" from Fear the Walking Dead) was Neptune. Billie Piper (Rose Tyler from Doctor Who) didn't have a huge role, but it was an important one and she revealed who she is later on. Hades was played by David Thewlis and one of my favorites was Eddie Izzard as one of the Fates. Eddie Izzard is amazing. Oh yeah, I just remembered that Hera, Zeuss's wife was played by that tall blonde woman who was a bad guy in "Ozark" before she starting to help the Bird(Byrd?) family, She looks a lot like Jane Lynch. And everything got wrapped by the end of ep8....while also revealing a perfect set up for a season 2. It has yet to be renewed, but I read somewhere that it has gotten over 70% favorable reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Watch it! It's unique and it's worth an 8 episode binge. I promise.

Kappy, I was disappointed in Dr. Odyssey... tired story lines, flat characters, IMO. And not great acting. I'll watch for awhile to see if it improves.

Karuuna - Let us know what you think. I thought the writing was incredibly lazy.

Did anyone watch Brilliant Minds?" I did and I liked it a lot. It reminded me of "House", about a pill popping, rogue genius doctor who couldn't follow the rules and he even had a little herd of interns to teach. But Brilliant Minds has a much more likeable pill popping, rogue genius doctor who can't follow the rules and he also has a little herd of interns to teach. Other than that, BM seems to have a much more optimistic and relatable doctor, as opposed to the angry jerk of House...so I think I'll enjoy this version of this shared premise a lot more. Fingers crossed that Dr Wolf doesn't go bad.

Dr Odyssey was a bit odd. Was it just me or did anyone else notice that there seemed to be sexual tension between the male nurse and the hero doctor? Nurse Silva would often walk up to Dr Bankman and stand very close and look directly into his eyes when they were talking, whether he was angry or praising his new doc/boss. At one point I thought they were about to kiss. Oh yeah, there was maybe a bit too much casual touching, too. It felt odd because that doesn't seem to be the direction the show is aiming for. (They'd make a cute couple but I really don't see that on the horizon.) But who knows? Ryan Murphy was one of the creators/writers of this series.

Odd, thank you Seamonkey, I have been trying to figure out what I thought of Dr. Odyssy and that is it. I have tried to watch it twice, been interrupted both times by my friend, LOL. Maybe that's a sign, but I don't get what the point of the show is. Seriously, is it going to be "disease" of the week show with some other drama with the cruise customers? I can't figure out the relationships, and thought it was odd that they went off for what looked like a party bender before the next cruise. That just seemed like an odd thing to do so early in the cruise circuit, they have hardly finished the maiden voyage. That "appreciation event" is usually saved for later in the season. So I will watch it again if the pilot re-airs and then give it another show to see if I like it. It didn't hit like Matlock and High Potential did for me.

I found an interesting article with an interesting theory about Dr Odyssey. (It's not about my thoughts in the above post. It makes some valid points and it has piqued my interest. The author of the article says it's their "theory" but if it turns out to be true, it's a spoiler so don't follow this link if you want to avoid possible spoilers. Interesting. But it reminds me of when I thought all but one of the detectives were ghosts on that show a few years back. Just about everything fit, but by the third ep, it was clear I had made a fool of myself. LOL

I'm anxious to see how it plays out. If the link is correct there should be more subtle clues or dialogue/comments that are a bit "off", which I'd never expect from Ryan Murphy....the guy's a master storyteller. I can't picture him allowing some of the show's dialogue details in the above article....unless they all meant something. Look at his resume. 5 minute clip of his work: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0614682/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_1_nm_7_in_0_q_ryan%2520urphy

I’m curious to see if Sanfran’s theory works out. Unfortunately, I’ve found Sanfran to be a much more entertaining and imaginative writer than most of the series writing that I’ve seen.

Thank you for the compliment, Jimmer, but I gotta say - it isn't "my" theory. I just pointed out the theory of a writer named Claire Franken. I haven't seen ep 2 yet....but I'm really curious to see if I notice anything that pertains to Ms Franken's theory. All of the "clues" she listed were not apparent to me at all (except in retrospect) but now I have something to look for. It reminds me of watching "West World". I was a bit lost in the plot because I never picked up that they were mixing in flashbacks and/or flashforwards to reveal their plot twist until someone else brought up a theory...the theory that character X and older character Y were actually the same character...and they had an age difference of decades. It was a masterful misdirection because that character was much older in various scenes, but the characters around him never aged because they were a bunch of dang robots! Now that I'm alerted to this Odyssey theory, I think looking for clues might be a fun challenge....unless there are no more "clues". I'm guessing if there are more, it has to be a purposeful and it has to mean something. Please note - many theories *I* have about various shows are often (or mostly) wrong!

I tried to watch carefully for any new clues. The only thing I caught was in the previously, when the doc first sees the ship he says "this ship is heaven." I tried to watch pretty carefully. The second episode seemed a little more run of the mill than the first, with fewer fantastic stories, altho I was surprised at some of the medical equipment/testing abilities they had on board. More like a mini hospital? Never been on a cruise, let alone used their medical facilities, so don't know if that's a bit beyond normal.

I like Odyssey, it seems to have a Fantasy Island vibe to it. I can’t remember if Murphey did that show too. Very unrealistic with all the medical procedures, equipment and such though.

"with fewer fantastic stories" Yeah...not as much to tie to that theory this week....but I can't help but think that something was weird when a lady passenger suddenly collapses and then the Captain suddenly collapses and then the rescued raft lady suddenly collapses in the first half of the show! Luckily, all three of them got their perfect happy ending. Of course I was looking for clues so the one thing I came up with was a real reach, but if the doctor in a coma or something those three collapsing people could've been patients in the same ward in a hospital....maybe he can hear them from his coma but he dreams of them in a different, and happier scenario. There is something that's "too perfect" going on. On another note I'm wondering if anyone else recognized Chord Overstreet as the blonde sex maniac who exposed almost the whole ship with a nasty std? It took me a second to recognize him because he's a grown man now instead of the boy that his classmates called "trouty mouth" on Glee.
