My husband already had an Apple ID account, and a credit card connected to it from the iTunes days. That card was old, and before we could use the ID they did make us change it to a CC that was in date. BUT it hasn't charged the card for any of this, it is properly free, as long as you just play the shows, and you don't click the "free trial option" (which would be free for the trial period, but they'd charge after that unless you cancelled). So yes, if you don't want them to give you a CC you can't use the free trial, unfortunately. We watched Wolfs tonight. Only watchable because it's George Clooney and Brad Pitt, and even that is getting a bit tired.

I’m on the west coast and have been using Apple TV since Friday. While this information is late, I did read last night that the free Apple TV was for people with an Apple ID, ie people with an iPhone or iPad. Of which, I’m an Apple iPhone and iPad user. So, I have an Apple ID that the free weekend connects to. It wasn’t presented that way in the first article I read. The first article just said free Apple TV this weekend, without any conditions attached.

Thanks, Kookliebird. That makes sense. Though stupid not to let people who don't have apple try it for free, too.

Is anybody else watching "Silo"? My sister started watching it a while back and got so interested she bought the books it is based on. I've read the first book and saw the first episode but not sure I care enough to read more or watch more. It's okay. Just not my thing, I guess.

I managed to finish 2 seasons of Shrinking this evening. It’s the only thing I watched. So very good. Had me in tears a few times, followed by laughter. I really enjoyed it. So much so, that I’m thinking when Season 3 drops, I may have to do a 1month Apple+ subscription just to see it.

We are interested in Silo, but are waiting until we have finished some other shows. I’ll probably do a free trial then subscribe for a month or two. Not sure I’m up to Shrinking..

I finished two seasons of Ted Lasso and 7 episodes of season three. With time running out on the free weekend, I skipped ahead and watched the final episode before I fell asleep last night. It was a really good series.

I'm watching Silo. I didn't realize all of season 2 hasn't dropped yet . And likely more seasons. So cliff hanger expected. It's okay for the apocolyptic type of shows.

Silo is pretty good. Apple TV leans heavily into science fiction and dystopian shows with mixed results. Severance is very good.

watched the first two episodes of Severance and I would describe it as boring as all get out! my dd says that it gets better, but I am not sure I can suffer through

I never like Silo in the first few episodes but then I get hooked again. Same thing with Severance. It is such an unusual storyline that it takes a bit to get into. Or not - it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

I watched season 1 of severance and as I recall it gets good right as it ends and just leaves you hanging! So I'll try season 2 and hope it's not quite a slow to get there.

I really like Severance. In fact, I’m re-watching it again before the second season. It’s a very interesting concept. However, I agree that it’s slow in some respects and there isn’t a lot of action. Lots of interesting things to think about though.

I started watching Paradise. It's a bit like Silo but more recent. A fascinating show about a whole underground city for people escaping a life ending event on Earth's surface

I just finished Paradise on Hulu. It's good. I like how it's not told in a linear fashion, but we learn more about the past as we go through each episode.

Is anyone watching 1971 on Apple? It's about what was happening in America that year and how music of the time echoed what was happening Over 50 years ago and the streets were filled with young people protesting Viet Nam war, Civil Rights and rights for women. They hated the president and felt like the country was divided. It's so interesting to look back and see how things were

Cable, it is funny I was marching last weekend in NYC against Trumps policies with an old friend from high school. We started in Bryant park and we remembered marching in Bryant Park in 1969 against the Vietnam war. I will watch it.

I just finsished season 2 of Serverance. I have to say, this show you have to watch, can't multitask or you will miss something. There were some episodes were it was very slow but I still kept going. Ok, if you haven't already watched this, please stop reading as I am going to say a spoiler. Who was disappointed with the ending?! I wanted to know if all the innies were to die. What about Gemma now? What was the purpose of that experiment, that they can create and innie and make sure they have no memories? Weren't they trying that with all of the innies? What happened at the Factory and the old town? Did I miss the backstory of the little girl? Was she really older but stuck in a young body? What was the point of the goats and goat people? The goat is a sacrifice to carry the soul to heaven?? It left me with more questions than answers. I guess setting them up for a season 3. Kinda of like what Silo's last season did too.

Just watched the first 2 episodes of Murderbot, new series; futuristic about robots they use to keep safety and order. The writing is witty. I enjoyed watching adn look forward to the next episode released on May 23. By the way, there is a promo in Canada right now for $3.99/month for up to 3 months. This is how I was trying all this out.
