This is so sad for me. Jan Hooks passed away Thursday at 57. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/10/arts/television/jan-hooks-of-saturday-night-live-fame-is-dead-at-57-.html?_r=0

I am so looking forward to Sunday night's 3 hour live special! It's for the 40th anniversary. Plus, there is a red carpet event during the hour before the live show.

They showed the pilot last night. It really wasn't all that funny! But, I am looking forward to the special tonight.

VH1 is doing a sort of documentary on the first 5 seasons. I about died to see Gilda!!! and Steve Martin doing their dancing routine, priceless. So fabulous to see Gilda again.

I was looking forward to seeing this tonight, but there are too many overlapping shows and my DVR can only record 2 and I have to be on one of the channels. The Bachelor and Walking Dead are going to win out of SNL.

I am watching the VH1 special and OMG, I just got tears in my eyes watching Roy Orbison performing. Just fabulous.

Snoopsmom, I have this problem often. I usually try to see if one of the shows will be online so I can watch it the next day. Don't know about Bachelor or Walking Dead though.

I thought about recording the encore airing of Walking Dead but know I won't be able to resist watching the first airing and Talking Dead. I'm hoping the SNL special will show up on demand later in the week.

So far the show is better than I thought it would be. Loved the Jeopardy segment because they had Norm MacDonald and the guy who played 'Sean Connery'. Poor Paul picked an awful high song to sing. Maybe he is having voice problems?

LOL, I am still watching VH1, the show hasn't gotten here yet and I just saw the Beyoncé/Justin Timberlake doing Single Ladies. I had never seen that before and I about fell on the floor laughing so hard. Justin was doing the choreography pretty well. LMAO.

I haven't seen either in a new skit yet but I could have missed something when I took Kiwi outside. Murphy was interviewed on the pre-show.

I'm sure there's a delay but I love that they're doing this live.

I bet it's a crazy after party. Loved when Martin Short was being blown away with 'Beyonce'.

Wonder what happened with Eddy Murphy? Chris Rock gave him such a huge build up and then ????.

My dog wanted to come in so I came back to it being over, but I can see where they might have asked him to cut it down on the spot, this was worse than an awards show - some things were too short, but most dragged on and on.

During the opening monologue with Steve Martin et al, Paul McCarthy came out with some elderly man who looked like a deli owner. Who was that? I'd never seen Alec Baldwin doing Tony Bennett before. That was hilarious.

some elderly man who looked like a deli owner Tishala, you made my day. I missed the show as I was sleeping off a migraine. Argh! I've watched some clips online and I did think, "man, they have all aged!" Like I haven't. lol
