I don't think they have been told that, have they? We've been told that, but we haven't even been told the whole truth. So who knows what they told the climbers.

I feel for the older and not in good shape people on this show... they didn't think they were going to end up on a show about climbing a mountain. I'm thinking the ones with knee problems have ruined them for life!

Strat, I agree. I wonder if they had to have knee surgery because of this show.

Honestly, they should not have cast some of the people for this type of show. It was actually kind of cruel to make them think they were going on a BB/Survivor type show and send them on this

Having knee issues late in life, and not having done any of the crazy things they have done, I have been worrying about their knees for some time. I hate to think how they will regret keeping on with their injuries when they have difficulties as they age. I wonder what they got paid, if it was a per week thing .. off to goggle.

O, interesting ... they apparently were not paid for each episode in which they appear and they weren't really carrying all the money. As it turns out, the contestants aren't carrying tens of thousands of dollars in their backpacks after all, but they are carrying some cash "The bags of money, the outside [layer] of the money is real and then the inside is fake money. But, there are still thousands of dollars in each one of those bags" I think there's a legitimate possibility that none of them make it, but I hope I'm wrong. I do know that host and actor Manu Bennett had a chance to travel through the course before the contestants arrived at the base. https://www.cinemablend.com/interviews/are-the-summit-contestants-carrying-bags-prize-money-executive-producer-explains

Apparently there was another Summit in Australia where "charlotte" won and was allowed to determine the split of the money. She took $336,000 for herself and gave the other 2 finishers $100,000 each. https://9now.nine.com.au/the-summit/2024-premiere-date-contestants-what-to-expect-everything-to-know-season-2-explainer/688733e1-a028-44a2-a61f-a40fa05378e5

So we will see if CBS changes the ending for the US competitors. I don't see how CBS could have them on a show without a stipend, but maybe they don't have to pay one if they are filming out of the US. I know Survivor pays based on how you finish, not a set dollar per show.

there is no way that the producers would allow the show to end with no one getting money

Dipo, there were 2 Australian shows and they both ended differently

It's Finale night ... interestingly it's only an hour show.

It wasn’t the finale tonight. That’s next week. I am however celebrating Beckylee getting the boot in a 4-1 vote. I couldn’t stand her as she was the female version of Dennis. I’m also not surprised she took it poorly.

Yeah, it's the final checkpoint, not the finale... a little confusing. Wow, Beckylee really begged at the end, after she played Dennis' game for much of the trek.

I came to like BeckyLee in the end, but she was so obviously the youngest and most fit player in the beginning, that she seemed to be a shoo-in to win it, which would have been boring. All I can figure now is Therron is going to win, with Jeannie second. Nick and Punkin will go next. Or maybe Therron and Punkin as 1 and 2.

I was also confused because a commercial before the show aired said "only one episode left..." so I assumed they were taking about the one episode I hadn't seen yet. Argh. I was happy to see BeckyLee go, tho. Am looking forward to the actual finale next week!

well I just watched the show and next week the eliminated players come into make a choice and if they make the choice I don't think theron hasa chance. a couple of people feel he targeted them especially the last 2 Becky and Dusty.

I really don't like the idea of the eliminated contestants deciding how much money each person who makes it to the summit receives. That is going to piss me off if that's how it goes down. As far as I'm concerned, if you made that trek through the snow in those freezing blizzard conditions, you deserve your share of the money.

I kind of like the idea of them voting. Isn't the Challenge doing something similar this season? By having the eliminated contestants rank vote the remaining contestants? I think there's some merit to saying if you treat people dirty, it may affect your payout. I'm starting to think Therron is a big fake. He carries on on every obstacle, crying and saying he can't do it, yet he does it. And can run like the wind thru deep snow to get those yellow bags. Is he just pretending so they don't see him as a threat?

I agree Lexiegirl, I don't know why the eliminated should have a vote. The task was just too hard. I went into this that the players who finish would get the "money" in their backpacks and that's how I think it should end. Karuuna, I agree, I think he is over exaggerating his fear thinking it will benefit him. I hope it doesn't

Dipo, I still think that some 'payback' for being treated poorly is warranted. I fear that it will just be playing favorites, but then that's how people often vote in BB and Survivor.

If that it was too hard that caused elimination, the voting and other elimination would not have been needed. Success also caused elimination. This whole show is random and eliminated voters getting a voice is just one more random thing.

Would have preferred the the other contestant for the big win, but can also see why this low self-esteem but capable contestant won.
