Congrats to you for making it through the episode, Juju. I was so bored and irritated with the way this show played out that I turned it off halfway through the finale.

Interesting that it was only the additional $250,000 that was done by vote. I was okay with that. And since the other two still got $250,000... I think it was fair.

I was happy that everyone got the $250, and I liked that Nick won because it seemed to me that he really helped a lot of people when they struggled. I would have been happy with Pumpkin as well.

Yeah, Nick was an interesting contestant all the way through, and he was indeed especially compassionate toward the struggling contestants. I really did love Punkin all the way through though, and hopefully the $250,000 will be enough for her and her wife to get their baby through IVF. I have been sort of pondering the existential question that if both wives are capable of bearing a child, how they decide which one has the baby, or if they both get IVF from the same donor, so if there are multiple children, they are biological half-siblings.

I have no words for how this played out. I'm happy that they all got $250K and I agree that Nick deserved the remaining money but I hate that the reason there was an extra $250K is because production had them cut people in the middle of the competition by "leaving them behind."

I'm still pondering my feelings on this. Don't get me wrong, I like Nick, and happy he got the extra $. But the way it all played out has me not sure if I enjoyed it or not. LOL. I MAY binge watch the whole thing over the weekend, and see if it gives me any clarity.

I kind of like how it played out. It seems pretty fair that each of the three that made it to the Summit got $250,000 and that the one that the others thought the most deserving (for whatever reason) got a bonus $250,000. There’s merit in making it there (I guess we could call that winning) and merit in how they made it there (how they played to win). I think Nick was pretty sincere helping others and it wasn’t deliberately or grossly manipulative on his part. It was quite genuine so it’s nice that he won (though I liked Punkin a lot too). As I mentioned earlier, I feel bad about his low self esteem. He’s a top athlete and a VP at 28 and keeps talking about failure. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Scoots, if you end up doing that hard work for those of us left wondering some sort of weird way.

Jimmer, I agree with what you said. My biggest issue has always been the production interference in forcing them to "leave someone behind." I have no doubt that Jeannie would have made it to the top of the summit if they hadn't cut her. That's my issue with this show.

That show has some beautiful scenery. I think I enjoyed that more than a few of the contestants. (i'm not sure I'd want Dennis for my nurse) I don't think I could ever have done what these folks did so hats off to them, especially those that weren't adrenaline junkies and were bricking it. I was happy with the winners for the most part.

I think production interfered a lot more than we saw. Because Those long shots where we saw people alone in the distance. Every one had to stop and production had moved away. It took time to set them up. No one. Could do any thing. I believe there were times when time had to be made up so they could make the check points because of production delays. I am cynical and only believe very few shows. Like the amazing race. But I still know the production on that show spins stories making heroes and villains.

It’s pretty common in reality television. Those long shots may not even have been the actual contestants. They could have been filmed earlier. If you ever see the actual Survivor setup there are massive cables and cameras that we never see in the wide angle or longer shots. All that said, I agree there was likely a lot of production input or interference on this show. I also agree that the leave someone behind parts were harsh. Those parts were not enjoyable for me at all.

I was at Venice Beach when TAR started. Phil counted down, said Go, and then told them to stop. He said it would be the only do over on the season because the helicopter view of them leaving the starting point was too noisy to hear his voice.
