Oh I am sure Bo was fine, we have seen them fall from a bridge before and they had a safety line attached when they cross.
They did show him starting to fall then cut away.

I think they had to have told him to brace himself that he was going to be lifted up when the rope cut. I wish we could have seen the complete sequence. I think I would have felt better if we saw him being hoisted up instead of swinging back against the mountain

I fast forwarded thru most of episode 2. Again climbing a mt and crossing a rope bridge.

What really sucks is if they are forced to cut someone like they did with Bo - there's no way they are going to win anywhere near $1M. I think it's a safe assumption that not everyone is going to be able to physically make and will drop out and that money is also gone.

The ladder would have finished me. Good for Pati and Amy for goind first and making it up it!
Dennis is such a wanna-be villain. At the end I really despised him and Brenda.
I'm of the mind set to keep the strong players to help get me to the summit, I would need all the help I could get.

Dennis is treacherous! Poor Geoff. There are some unpleasant people in this cast. I hate to say it, but if Dennis keeps running the game I hope they don't win any money. There! I said it!

I'm ready for Dennis and Becky to go. I really don't like egotistical players. Was sorry to see Geoff go, I wish the "herd" had stepped up, since they will be next, picked off one by one if they don't rally.

It was odd to me that they want to get rid of the people that can help them get to the top. And they keep saying that this is a competition.
The competition is between the Mountain and the Climbers. I don't see what kind of competition they have between themselves other than stealing money from each other.
The money won't matter if they don't get to the top.
I also noticed it looked like they could have gone around that cliff and climbed up the backside instead of using the ladder. Was that an option they were not offered? It would have been just as hard and could show who was willing to try the ladder as the harder task.
I didn't enjoy last night's show, I don't want to see them struggle and scared out of their minds over and over, it is hard to see how that is entertaining or helps progress the game.

Yeah, they need some updates to production I think.
Interestingly there were 2 seasons of this in New Zealand before they brought it to the US, so it was successful there. Maybe it just doesn't translate well to us.
And I agree, that I don't understand why they aren't culling the slowest. The reason I went searching was that I was trying to find how many checkpoints there are and how far they were to the top by day 4. Couldn't find that anywhere. Manu keeps saying they aren't on track to make it to the summit, but it seems like they don't believe him.

I get that is "a show" and they are "playing a game" however both are hard to watch.
I wouldn't mind seeing them on Big Brother though.

this cast pisses me off. makes no sense to get rid of strong players. So stupid! if they dont make it they get 0 money but they want to keep people that slow them down. I hope they all lose. Geoff was robbed!
the ladder would have terrified me especially when the helocopter came!!

Okay, so this is a brand new reality television show, and we are fans of reality tv shows for the past 24 years. And these people had no idea what kind of reality tv show they had been chosen for, and some of the contestants were not even BORN when reality television shows began.
WE know, but they don't, that the best strategy is to exploit the strongest players, especially if they have good hearts, until you get a chance to cut them later on, when you have sucked the usefulness out of them.
I hate it, but that's life in the 21st century, and the reality television shows it spawned.
And I will likely watch it to the end.

I watched my recording last night so I avoided this thread yesterday. It looks like I'm not the only one befuddled by them getting rid of strong competitors.

I feel like Becky and Dennis are hired actors and I'm not liking the overall feel of the show because of them. This show just isn't working for me.

Karuuna, I tried Googling where I could watch the first two seasons of The Summit and it just brought me to P+ but it only has this season. The first two seasons may be limited to viewing in NZ and not on streaming

I am watching it on Paramount+, since it is playing on CBS following Survivor. You can watch it on regular CBS network television.
Oh! I just read back in the thread, and I have apparently missed quite a few posts, didn't realize they had already done two shows with Southern hemisphere casts.
I was under the impression this is the first season, since the contestants are all American players agreed to play in a reality television program without knowing what they would be doing.
Agree with Kappy that Becky and Dennis appear to be actors hired to portray villains.
I may be dropping this show.
