Yes, the Destination episode was very good, as well as heartbreaking.

Up above I said it was Neil Hansen who had the seizure - I think his name is Norman. Sorry.

There are some new "Theme" episodes today and a short preview but.... "Deadliest Catch has set its Season 16 return for Tuesday, April 14, with a special 2-hour premiere. For the first time on the series, the Alaskan crab fleet will face off against the Russians — their biggest rivals."

New season starting. With the Russia and Chinese getting into crab and with COVID keeping half the U.S. crab fleet at the dock, the remaining captains must have the quota or they will be shut down for 3 years. Dog convinces Jonathan Hillstrand to come out of retirement. Sadly, the season is dedicated to Nick McGlashan, who was the lead guy (deck boss) on Wild Bill's boats. https://popculture.com/reality-tv/news/deadliest-catch-nick-mcglashan-cause-death-revealed/ So young, so sad.

The season 17 premiere is in on-demand now. Plus, there is an additional new episode that aired this morning and is in on-demand titled "A New Lead" that is the Harris boys embarking on commercial fishing in Hawaii.

I just finished watching the 2 hour premiere and it's mostly a recap of last season with some captains and crew in the studio interviewing each other.

It was hard watching Nick in those recaps and seeing how several deaths had affected him and to know that since then he lost the battle with drugs.

That episode I mentioned called "A New Lead" ended up being just a 10 minute preview of Josh and Casey's new show "Deadliest Catch: Bloodline". It's on Discovery+.

There was also about 15 hours of brand new captain and crew interview shows with clips. Part of the one hour connected to the beginning of the real episode had Jonathan Hillstrand with Josh Harris and Casey McManus. Casey said something that really hurt Jonathon. You have to see it. It concerns when last season they paired up to catch King's, but Casey lied to Jonathon about the good fishing he found. Jonathon didn't think in a million years Casey would lie to him, and Casey's excuse why was so hurtful!

They keep putting out endless shows and combining shows. So 3 hours of Deadliest Catch but half of the show was about Josh and Casey fishing in Hawaii, by most of both halves was old footage.

It seems the first 2 hours last night's show was actually the first episode(4/19). It's all Alaskan fishing except for Sig going to Norway to fish because of King Crab season being cancelled. It's labeled s18 ep02. The third hour of the ep is again Jake and Casey and crew heading to Hawaii. I always skip it.

Oh, I may have accidentally deleted it because I've been getting so. many. recordings that weren't new shows at all. Oh well.

Sig did get a boat in Norway, had to reconstruct it for Crab. Jonathan and Josh/Casey are fishing for a different crab that is really harder to get, very deep. Josh's older brother is on the boat for the first time. He apparently had a different mom and when Phil married his last? wife she refused to let Josh and younger brother Jake have contact any more with older bro. The older brother did come out to fish in Hawai'i with Josh, Casey and their Hawai'ian partner. Jake was working on the Cornelia Marie in the shipyard. He seems to be in a better place, maybe.

Jake Anderson leased from the Brenna A captain his Cod quota and used the Saga as collateral. Everyone is branching out to catch something since the normal Red Crab is off limits. And Mandy was at the time of filming about to give birth.

This week only the first hour was regular DC before they switched to Jake in Hawaii and then to an interview show.
