Not sure if this is the correct thread but here goes ... Sixteen strangers embark on a 14-day trek through the perilous New Zealand Alps to reach a distant peak. Each holds part of a $1 million prize, but only those who survive the harsh terrain, Antarctic winds, and intense challenges will win. I can't imagine how they are going to make it to the summit on time if they keep the people who reeally are not fit to climb. It's one thing to be fit enough to run and do things horizontally and I am sure their will be flat parts, but this is going to be pretty much mostly a climb.

Last night their was a medical evacuation and then they had to make a pretty serious decision about "saving" one person. Finally they ended up having to vote someone off. All of the cast has to reach the summit (or at least those remaining) in the 14 timeframe or they all lose.

It's a brutal challenge. They voted off a member based on personality rather than ability. I think they made a mistake.

I kind of agree Just gail, but they are just at the beginning and haven't figured out the game because I don't think they should have saved that one guy. He is not going to make it long on the climb. Hmmm, I think we need a banner. Off to find a cast list for Jimmer.

What did you guys think? I didn’t really dig it. But maybe because we haven’t really gotten to know the people yet??

I was gasping at some of the things they had to do! I didnt see it coming that they would vote someone off each nite! The host voice sounds like he is talking thru a Darth Vader type modulator LOL He is trying to be soooo dramatic but I did like him

Honestly, I liked it. From what I understood, they have to vote someone off if they make it to the checkpoint (he said, making it to the checkpoint comes with a price?). It's possible I misunderstood. I dont know if it matters if they vote off the strong or the weak, actually. Except that if the weak ones drop off for medical reasons, or they quit, the money is lost to the overall pot. But it's almost an individual challenge to get to the checkpoints, isn't it? They aren't really helping each other except for carrying Bo's pack, and pulling a few up steep areas. That may change and it may be that they have to help the weaker ones more. I felt bad for the guy that was eliminated for a possible heart attack. He ran a marathon! And seemed like such a great person. Unlike a few, very selfish, others.

I’ll do a banner. I’m confused though about when this is on. It appears to be on after Survivor but they’ve already shown the first episode? When will it normally be on?

It will on at 930 after survivor in the BB slot. This Sunday was a special preview Kar, they all have to get to the checkpoint so that is why the front of the pack has to constantly stop and let others catch up.

Kar, you are correct that the host told them there is a price for staying at a checkpoint, where they have lots of food and warmth and proper tents and even wine. That price is having to vote somebody out. Do realize that the checkpoint they made it to during the season premier show was the checkpoint they failed to make on day 1. So they arrived a day late and are already a day behind. And the host told them that they are already seriously in danger of not making it to the summit by day 14. The guy who went out on a medical evacuation told us he had weighed 408 pounds and had children and realized he was in no physical shape to raise children, so he began to change his life by exercising and losing weight, and he did complete a marathon. But he also said he weighed 250 pounds now, which is still way too unhealthy a weight to be climbing a mountain. He really never had a chance of succeeding at this task. I was quite surprised that they voted out the very strong Air Force woman, especially after she volunteered to carry Bo's pack, but I guess if they had not voted her out, it would have been Bo anyway. And Bo IS going to slow them down so that they will miss making the next checkpoint on time. I thought the young blonde woman they chose to be the leader for the walking a rope over the chasm of death 500' below did an absolutely excellent job of pairing people to go over together, after the annoying take-charge "camp counselor" told the group how to do it. She and her partner even went first AND fell off, thus demonstrating that no one would die if they slipped off the rope. Having the two heavy women go over as partners was an excellent idea. I suppose production also coached them as to how it should be done, but it was "good television." Anyway, I will keep watching it.

https://robhasawebsite.com/the-summit-premiere-recap/ RHAP decided to watch the sneak preview and then decided that they would have a podcast for The Summit. They made a lot of good points and Rob and Taran speaking like the host had me laughing. One point was that the faster ones do need to get to know the slower ones, because they all vote and are less likely to target a fast but helpful person who they have gotten to know than a speed demon stranger.

Jimmer, they billed Sunday's show as a "sneak preview", but it was a full first episode. Next showing is Oct 9, which I suspect they will rerun that first episode.
