I saw Race 1 but thought it was a flashback, but I do tend to be multitasking a lot..

No Sea... it wasn't a flashback - just some very sloppy editing.

Yeah, sloppy watching on my part, too.

So did anyone watch this?

This was interesting with most teams heading to the food Cache (a couple got lost, a couple got injured) and two heading to the first task, which involved a deep cave and crawling through tight spaces. Only one team at a time could be in the initual area they rapelled down. I was claustrophobic just watching them squeezing through the tightest spot and mercifully, we didn't have to view each team going through there.

Interesting that the huntera are sometimes called hunters, but the narrative mostly uses inlaws. The chiron will say hunters or Hunters/inlaws.

After the cave there was a "maze" that even had a marked edge that they couldn't go outside.. one team actually just followed that edge and even though that route was longer, they came out first.

Unfortunately the 2 or 3 teams that made it to the start of the next section, kayaking a wild river, did arrive (other teams had to overnight in the maze) were not allowed to start the kayak leg unless they had three hours left before dark. So that meant three teams were all sleeping there and started the kayaking just five minutes apart, so the first teams lost some of their lead.

And we had medical removals.

The divorced couple had some uncomfortable moments but did have some good ones too I guess.

I watched it tonight. Yeah, the going down the 600 foot hole thing and then through very tight openings with water in them gave me the queasies.

I suspect the male of the divorced couple is going to come out of this surprised that women viewers consider him to be controlling and abusive and hope to HELL that bright attractive woman does not decide to get back with him.

I watch my recording on Tuesday night since it comes on too late on Monday night.

It was very smart of that team to follow the "geo-tag" along the ridge of the maze even though it added two miles to their hike.

When I was watching that cave task last night, I was wondering how production finds all these remote locations to do these tasks. TBH, the NZ version of this show seems way more brutal physically than the Alaska version.

I'm worried about the Mom whose ankle is hurting her. I don't know how much longer she will last. With the exception of it being slightly uncomfortable watching the divorced couple last night, I do, for the most part, like all the teams; however, it seems like Kennedy and Nik are getting almost zero camera time.

I watched! I still love this show, wish they had continued doing longer episodes!

I was very worried for Ethan and Tyrie when they got lost and were last, but pretty impressive that they moved up to 3rd. They are strong contenders, if they can fix their nav issues.

Didn't really pay off well for the hunters since they skipped the food and are already being lapped even tho they reached the cavern first.

Yeah, catch up is always an issue... same as the Amazing Race.

And gosh, Creighton... the sad thing is that some women will still hit him up after this is over.

Also, I think the moms may well be eliminated next. Or medically tapped.

I think they are going to medically tap out... she's saying that basically... it's not worth risking any permanent damage to her that may cause her to not being able to participate in endurance racing in the future... sad... but they do need to think of the long term.

The guy who fall forward on his head.. that was scary!

I also think the moms will tap out.. actually almost thought they had.

But I do enjoy the show.

Agree about Crieghton.. all I can say to women is Caveat Emptor. Won't help though. People always thing THEY can reform or change someone.

Also, I can't wait for the episode where production tells the teams that someone broke the rules. I wonder what that's about.

Betcha it is that rule where both contestants have to touch the box before they can open it. I find it a bit odd that we are seeing footage where one contestant reminds the other that both have to physically touch the box.

I actually thought the Moms did get airlifted out, but I guess that was the ultra-marathoners, and it was just the Moms discussing whether to airlift out before dark or to see if the ankle improved overnight, and then they were in a scene the next day, meaning they did NOT airlift out. She surely can't last much longer though.

Juju, that's my thought as well, which would be a stupid penalty to go out on! And yes, it's being foreshadowed.

Good guess about the rule. Teams are dropping fast.

Well, I can sort of see that touching the box thing if two teams arrive in close proximity to each other but one or more partners is lagging behind, especially when they are having to get in line for the really dangerous stuff like rappelling 600 feet down into a pit.

Oh, and in this week's episode, did anybody else notice a male staffer got a tiny bit of airtime when he told a racer he was there to make sure they got down a waterfall, or something involving rocks and water, safely? I think he was dressed in blue with red trim.

I thought that when the one woman just grabbed the hand of her friend instead of touching the box itself last night, that maybe that would be the rule break they have been referencing. But then they were eliminated and not DQ'd so there must be something else happening.

I thought that was interesting Juju that the guy was there to be a safety officer, so many other areas seemed more dangerous.

Great episode, enjoyed everything except them needing food.

YEs, and another staffer announcing the DQ of Coree. :-(

We also saw that they do get to keep the things they earned at other checkpoints, the fishing rod and the eel fishing kit were both used. So heartbreaking that two big fish were lost!

I just watched the most recent episode.

Dipo, I suspect there are safety staffers all along the way, but they usually manage to keep them out of the scene.

Unbelievable Creighton came through with food at the last minute. That might be a game changer.

That eel was HUGE!!! That was smart thinking to split whatever he caught 50/50 with the owners of the spear (I still can't get everyone's name straight). Creighton fed four adults with that eel. Juju is right - that might have been the game changer because they were all ready to go in the a.m. at the start of the race because they all had full bellies.

ETA: I read last week that Coree was treated for a concussion after he was evacuated.

Lexie, so interesting that the hunters/in-laws (who had the spear) can't find food to save their lives and that they have to rely on Creighton (twice now!) to feed them!

Heartbreaking but not for the fish. On this show and Alone it kills me when people celebrate while holding a thrashing, slippery fish...

With this group of people I find that I like them all for the most part. It's hard to watch Creighton and his ex sometimes but that's to be expected when you are newly-divorced and going through a race like this. It does seem like all the teams like each other unlike last year the father/son team made it uncomfortable for everyone.

They are a likable bunch. Creighton is annoying because he always has to be talking, or saying something. But he's not a bad guy. And I like to see the teams cheering as the last teams show up, and geniunely sorry to see others eliminated.
