So instead of getting up at 5:00 a.m. and screwing around on computer for an hour before getting ready for work I decided to watch my recording so I wouldn't have to avoid this thread all day. Last night's episode was wild AF. If you would have told me at the beginning of this season that I would like Creighton by the end of the season I would have said you are nuts. But he's really growing on me. He and Paulina are definitely making their divorce work. And Nik and Kennedy who have gotten hardly any airtime thus far more than made up for it last night. Just. Wild.

- hated that one team got so hungry they broke a well known rule, and got eliminated. I can't remember how many food caches they skipped, but I feel like there really isn't that much food in those. - hated Nik/Kennedy for murdering that sheep, and I had myself convinced that was the rule breaking. Some on reddit are saying that there are "wild" herds of sheep, but also that you need a permit to take them. So I'm very confused. Also, they seemed convinced that they would be eliminated and surprised that they weren't, so why kill that large of an animal if they were going home? Only one team left that I like. Luckily they are the most athletic!

Yeah, I was completely thinking it was the sheep. And I hated that they killed one but I guess if it was within the rules. I think the smoke jumpers are now the clear favorites to win. They will likely win it by a mile as long as they don't get injured or make any huge mistakes. Yes, it seems obviousl they killed a bird. And I guess it make sense that we didn't see any footage of it with the laws and fines. Sooo foolish as there are cameras all over. How'd they think they'd get away with it? And did they both eat it or did hte one guy just sneak off and do this alone? I wish they had explained a bit more about the incident.

His partner was behind him (I think) in the scene where it showed him creating a wooden spear. That's said, maybe he thought the spear was for something else. I find it hard to believe that he could kill it, clean it, cook and eat it without his partner knowing? He did say that with starvation comes cognitive issues, and I'm guessing that he may not have been thinking clearly.

So he killed one of the protected birds that were running around stealing all the contestents food. I was more offended by the sheep kill. Those aren't wild herds, surely they belong to someone. Anyway it's sad they left but I have never agreed that part of the survival was to practically starve them. In my mind it is supposed to be about how they survive the grueling terrain of the races, and the strategy to get to the end in a timely manner. I think they should all have to get the food caches, it adds to the strategy of the routes they take. But then the race planners can make there be only one acceptable path to the food cashe.

I looked into the sheep thing and apparently there are herds of feral sheep that can be taken legally. However you do need a permit, so I'm still confused about this. I thought the title "race to survive" has always implied it's a race and survival skills. This is the first year they had optional food caches. And rewards in the final chest. As I recall, in Alaska, they were given some food rations, but I forget how often and how much. I remember canned clams making someone really ill.

Yep Survival skills are part of the game. You are correct they did give them some minimal food last time, the vegetarians got sick from eating the clams.

I hated seeing the sheep killed but guessing they were on the ok list and clearly they plan to eat every part of it (that is edible. I think that team certainly thought they might be last and out but had hope that they wouldn't be, and that was the case. I think had they been out they would have given the mutton to the other teams. But indeed the minute I saw them going for the sheep I thought THAT was the broken rule. And add me to the list of those who find the divorced couple growing on me and this might be good closure. I know when I got divorced my ex would call and there were actual good memories to discuss. But apparently, I found out later, that he was convinced I would come back, told my brother who didn't pass that along for many years, while I was clearly and permanently out.. Anyway, good to see them vibing. This next and last double race, though, where they have to compete individually, can be a deal changer and might almost guarantee that the only team with the two men will win.. could be wrong though.

I was VERY surprised that one player was able to kill and eat a bird without the others knowing. It was unclear to me if the partner knew. The handmade spear could very easily have been for catching an eel, as Creighton did a time or too, albeit not with an handmade spear.

I'm tapping out on this one... I hated seeing the murdering of the poor, defenseless hedgehogs... not liking all the visuals of the mutilated eels... hated the whole sheep thing... I fast-forwarded through it... Then to top it off my favorite team... one member KNOWINGLY broke a rule but didn't care and was continuing in the race probably thinking he got away with something. Hate that. As soon as he admitted he knew he broke a rule I stop my recording and hit delete. Go Smoke Jumpers... they have always been my 2nd favorite team.

This is the finale, isn't it? All three teams are racing a combined final 2 legs. No more eliminations. Maybe they will split it into 2 shows?

My DVR shows next Monday is the finale so I'm guessing they split it into two parts.

I watched this at 5:00 a.m. again so I wouldn't have to wait until tonight and avoid this thread. This leg of the race was just brutal. I have some seriously mad respect for these F3 teams.

Agreed, Lexie. I was yelling out loud when the third team made it under the deadline.

It could have been the finale if only the one team made it to the end in time. I never imagined I would be rooting for the divorced couple to stay in, but I was.

I totally agree Juju and Seamonkey. I was so happy that Creighton and Paulina made the deadline. You're right Sea... if only one team made it to the end when the race clock expired - it would have been the finale.

I was pleased that Paulina beat Creighton to the post, but he was great in coming down to take her pack on the climb.

I think Creighton and Paulina both learned some big lessons from this experience. I do not, however, advocate that they get back together, UNLESS it is only as partners on reality television survival-type shows.

Juju, I don't see them ever getting back together but this experience definitely gave them whatever closure they needed and they can still be friends.

Yes some good closure and they could see the parts of their relationship that did work.

That F3 race was wild. All three teams deserved to be there.

I did see a follow up article on the taking of the bird, and the New Zealand gov't agreed to not prosecute, based on the circumstances. Very lucky for that young man.

I hope they reconsider next season and start giving them rations like they did in S1.
