Alone always jumps around so that is nothing new. It DOES make it harder sometimes to get to know them but they people are usually so impressive and then I love the little captions that will point out foibles . like if someone is eating something and the caption will tell how this might not be the best thing, or quite often they point out if something is especially rich in certian minerals or is really low in caolries. On this first episode they point out that one woman is expending 700 calories an HOUR building her cabin after she mentioned that bujiding the cabin came first then she'd concentrate on hunting for food.

I watched in the wrong order.. the first episode was about the camp they go to prior to going out alone. They have never shown this that I've seen. I did watch the actual episode first, though.

When they guy was hunting and suddenly got really upset, I knew right away that he had lost his arrows out of the qujver, which indeed was the case. I thought he would have been looking carefully as he backtracked his path. But then he was just so upset and I was saying.. you must have a knife and there is lots of wood.. MAKE new arrows.. obviously not as good but better than nothing and he didn't seem like he wanted to fish. In the preview they seem to show him making arrows.

Back to read the article. I rarely stream other than BB live feeds, which is different.

He actually lost the whole quiver, which, maybe it's just me and i don't know the terrain, I thought he would be able to find?

Yes.. It seems like he had been walking on game trails and would have been able to retrace his steps while maybe using a branch or something to help search the dense brush. He had to be able to find his campsite so search in between. I know it is easy to sit here and question, but he immediately seemed to go into panic mode.

I am always in awe that some of them shoot an arrow quite a distance and then find it!

Makes me think in the future I might want to paint markings on key items that would be easier to contrast with brush, even glow in headlamp light.

Numbers dropping but more to go...I was pleased that the guy who lost the whole quiver and arrows did decide to try making arrows and was successful.

I’m new to watching Alone and while I’m intrigued and loving the scenery I may have to tap out if they kill a bear. Such beautiful creatures! I was actually glad when he lost all of his arrows! I’ll be rooting for the bear every time.
Im surprised two tapped out already. Since im new to the show im not sure if this is a typical timeline.

More like 4 and yes, tap outs come for various reasons.. They can get sick and decide to leave, or production can take them out, they can realize that what they want has changed and go home, they can just not be finding food, or put too much energy into building an elaborate cabin.

But some will usually make it a long time.

There are rules about what animals they are allowed to hunt.

Most of them are so thankful to the animals they kill.

Brenda, I think this is the longest they've gone without someone tapping out. Usually you get 1 or 2 that leave in the first week. This show had the first tapouts of this season... both were favorites of mine. :-(

I always fast forward thru the killing scenes, whether it's a squirrel, grouse or something larger. Just can't watch it. Still, I do like the show.

I was amazed at how long they went. the first few years someone always tapped the first day.
I remember the guy who said he was not afraid of bears, he would wrestle one saw bear footprints and tapped a couple of hours later.
Another fell and broke his leg the first day.

This is a hardier group. It is hunters more than surviavalists, but I am surprised at the number of people who have not learned to build smaller places - these build a mansion before eating always surprise me that they did not watch any previous shows. Several winners in the past have credited watching the previous year in learning how to survive. One person this year is preparing jam which reminds me of last years winner, the only woman who created fruit leather and survived on that the last weeks when it was too brutal to go outside to fish or clam.

OH wow, good to know that early taps outs are the norm. Yes, these made it longer than I ever would. I was sad to see the old man go. I did like him a lot. And yes, I wondered when they would start to try and create food to store. But at this point they all seem to be starving, so no extra food to save for later.

Wow! Sounds like I need to watch some prior seasons.

It was too bad about the fish. I fully expected the fish to have been snatched by an animal overnight. But yeah, I would have tried to save the fish before it burned up!

I am not sure what got to one of them, But there was a heart break, an its OK if I go home and a I'm ready to go home, what do you mean I won.

But I have to say the Austrailians are a big disappointment to me. even in the earliest of days in the US version, they did not leave nearly as fast. Now I don't blame the guy with Covid, that was bad luck.

I did laugh when one guy said there is no food out here It will be hard to survive as a wallaby hops past his tent. I wonder if people review tapes before handing them in?

I have e to say, the Australians seem very unprepared, like they have not seen an episode of the show. Starving yourself from day one does not seem a good idea. Only that one woman seems to have prepared with knowledge of flora and fauna. 2 weeks in and there are few left.

Satisfying (for me & hubby) ending to Alone:Australia this week.

Although always hate it when someone is pulled for medical.
Agreed that these "contestants" did not seem as prepared as the US version, but it was a very different environment (and some different hunting rules).

Ok. Just catching 6 hours of alone UK season 1.

This is like the Norwegian alone which was basically people out for a weekend, they left when they got hungry.

Well anyway quotes would be I watched it on YouTube a couple of times, it seemed EASY. THAT WAS BUILDING A SHELTER.
I don't, like being so close to a bear.
I am a travel agent, I volunteered for this to get close to nature.

One person who seemed to know what he was doing swung his age to strong and hit himself and needed a medic, had to leave.

It is day 2 and a bunch talking about leaving.

Ther are/ in Canada.

Ok back to watching and sleeping.

6 episodes 34 days of people starving and talking about how they watched videos on YouTube, it should work. I wondered why so many people were not pulled for health reasons.
Seems they really wanted the 100k pounds.

Great first show! These folks seem much better prepared, but I can't imagine what it will be like when they are in almost 24 hour darkness!
