Wow, last night's show ended with Sig having a heart attack on the boat! Next week is the finale.

Just saw a short clip for next week. It showed Sig lying in a hospital bed. Since we have seen him on the Bait shows, he must have come through this in fairly good shape. Angioplasty (stents) or By-pass surgery?

I don't know but I've seen an interview with him that said it was a bad heart attack (of course is there such a thing as a good one?). Hope that it requires a serious lifestyle change - especially giving up smoking! It just drives me crazy to see them all still puffing away when they know that cigarettes contributed a great deal to Captain Phil's death.

The show termed it a massive heart attack. Ha hadn't had bypass as of filming and was still waffling about smoking.

I guess the contracts of Sig and others are up for renewal, so we don't know about next season.
Wild Bill says is they lose Sig, and Time Bandit, they can't just add in New boats...
And Sig is supposedly on a strict diet and not smoking.

I assume that if Sig is unable to return to the boat (because stress was a huge contributor to his heart attack) that Edgar would take over...which of course might cause Sig even more stress!

True. The tease that maybe he won't sign up or maybe he'll come later in the season and of course Edgar could take the early season of crab.. or fish or whatever.

I also can't conceive of Jonathan not returning - he seems to truly enjoy what he does and has been running the boat by himself since Andy seems to have decided to stay at home (still wonder about that one - is it because his daughters are getting older?).

Interesting episode with Captain Sig last night (and I don't think for a single minute that he will not be back in the chair next season...although he might not do the complete seasons anymore)...very introspective and even had me tearing up at the end.
The segment with the young captain (sorry, no coffee yet - can't remember the little cutie's name but his dad passed from ALS) really seemed to hit him hard.

I was just reading that Josh and the Cornelia Marie will not be back for the next season, season 13. It was Discovery Channel's choice to not bring them back, because Josh did want to come back.

I was under the impression that Josh no longer has a majority ownership of the ship. There may have been issues with the majority owners negotiations with Discovery Channel.

Kudos to the people raising money! Very sad.
Deadliest Catch makes not just the crews who are featured real to us but we are more likely to see other FV crews as individuals and we hurt for them, too.

Wow, even I got mad at Jake tonight right along with Sig. For Jake to let something as basic bait go wrong, it shows he's not up to the job. He better take complete control next episode and not let those guys take advantage of him by doing a shoddy job.
And I want the guy with the "cold" fired.

Jake needs to stop relying on others so quickly.
I hated that it was obviously the owner of his vessel who got that large quota, while the young captain of the vessel his father never got to captain has to scramble to be allowed to crab. That guy is the better role model.
Jake is lucky that Sig was curious and checked one of Jake's pots.
I expect that Jake will blame everyone but Jake for this.
I did flinch seeing that cigarette 🚬 in Sig's hand..
