They are working overtime to try and beef up Elliott's image, aren't they? But if he doesn't start treating his crew better I doubt he will be a captain much longer. He seems very immature to me. A 1-year restraining order to keep him from seeing his kids sure does seem extreme to me...there has to be more to that story than what we are hearing. I can't believe that there is no provision for visitation - that sure seems harsh - even if it is supervised. If there isn't anything else (I know he mentioned that she was afraid he would take the kids...but as he says - he's on a crab boat in the Bering Sea most of the time) then she needs a serious talking to! I realize we only get Elliott's side, but as a single mother I DETEST women who do everything in their power to keep their children's fathers from them. And those two kids are definitely Elliott's - they look exactly like him! Sorry Johnathan is still hurting. Loving the "After the Catch" episodes. And to think there are just a few more weeks left...this season has gone by too fast.

That is really weird, those kids adore him. Why keep him away for a YEAR? Something else to this story we don't know (didn't he use to have a drug problem but got himself cleaned up)?

I'm confused about the 1 year order as well. No visitation? Those kids adore him. Something fishy. Didn't he mention a drug past?

The woman I saw with her arms around Elliott's waist was not his wife. If his wife was also there, I didn't see her.

I don't think Elliott was married to his babies' mama. I thought he said she was his girlfriend of seven years.

It wasn't Elliot's ex (Val)- she (the girl in the bar) was dark haired (Val is a blonde), not to mention that he said pretty specifically that his relationship with her was over and they have both "moved on." Sig is a pretty smooth dancer...LOL! Doesn't he want to be on Dancing With the Stars? Brutal episode last night, and the ending with Edgar taking over the Northwestern (even if it was only for just a few pots) was awesome. Despite his tendency to spew arrogant statements out of his mouth (mostly just kidding), Junior is becoming one of my favorites and I think it would be interesting of he and Edgar teamed up, especially if they were successful and Sig had to admit to it. I didn't care for Johnathan at first but I'm now officially on the Time Bandit train. I might have to order a hat, and I don't even wear hats...LOL! I never thought that I would see Keith step out of the wheelhouse. Everybody else think that Jake Harris is still using, despite what he told Josh? It is sad, but it will be even sadder if he pulls Josh down with him. The pictures of the Cornelia Marie at drydock...to me she will always be the most beautiful of all the boats...and Captain Phil is still missed every episode, isn't he?

That's right...Elliott was not married. What an emotional and brutal episode last night! I really didn't need to see that sliced off fingertip. ewww....poor guy! I am awed by the professionalism of the camera crews. It must be so hard at times to not intervene or to just plain not panic. I absolutely believe Jake is using. If not, he is just very unmotivated and looks thin and sickly for some other reason. Wasn't he drinking beer in an After the Catch episode? I guess it could have been "near beer", but I doubt it. That can't be recommended for a person trying to beat his addiction. I worry about that kid. Yes, Captain Phil is greatly missed.

Yes, last night's episode was pretty intense what with the injury and the Wizard almost going on the rocks. I'm so glad Mouse pulled her out safely, teaches Keith that Mouse really does have a brain. I had to laugh at the dancing. Some were just bouncing around while Sig and his wife were really cutting the rug. I agree, he should consider Dancing with the Stars! The actions and pictures of him certainly make one think that Jake Harris is using. The sores on his face make me think it might be meth. I too, am hoping that Josh is strong enough to not let Jake pull him down. Josh seems so goal oriented that I'm pulling for him to succeed.

I thought meth too. I don't remember who was having the conversation (I think either Johnathan and Sig or Johnathan and Edgar) but they specifically mentioned that Jake Anderson stayed sober at his bachelor party and Jake Harris did not.

Jake Harris looks bad.. or did on the season. I think they are working overboard to pretend Elliot isn't totally screwing up and I think it is only the TV cameras that are keeping anyone on his boat.. oh but it isn't his boat.. he sort of muttered about a friend and getting their own boat.. yeah.. I miss Phil and CM.. but I love that Phil's face is still in the intro.. almost always when I see his sons, I run it back to see Phil's image.

The show has never been the same for me since Phil passed. How strange is that someone can have that much of an impact on a viewer? I hope his sons recognize that Phil's fans will always be his fans

I love that Phil's face is still in the into too (and yes, I have run it back to see him). I think Elliott should lose that boat. Sorry to say it, but he is delusional if he thinks he knows anything about running a crew. However I guess they all had to learn this...but his actions this season were rather concerning. Of course it isn't his boat at all so if the owner doesn't want to give him another chance then he's totally out, or needs to find another boat to captain.

It was the best episode they've ever done. I didn't even miss the ice or crashing waves. Jake Anderson is really something, quite a fine young man. And I'm glad to see that Josh Harris will move on, either with or without his brother. Captain Phil would be very proud of him. While I started out not being able to stand Elliott, I grew to like him this season. We don't really know what went on in his relationship, but I'd bet being at sea 10 months out of 12 played a huge role in their split. Why she is keeping those kids from him is criminal. He clearly adores his kids

What she is apparently saying to her kids is just flat wrong...it damages them as much as it hurts Elliott. Of course we really only know one side of the story so I'm not going to judge the choice she made to leave, but you do not tell your daughter that her daddy is a bad man. I'm the single mother of a daughter and her father isn't the best of men...sometimes he's a total...well, you know...but I tried really hard never to tell her that and to always support their relationship...unfortunately she found out what he is all by herself.

I was reflecting on this show last night (no pun intended) and thinking how much some of these men have changed over the years. I can't imagine them opening up and being as free talking to the cameras a couple of years ago. I think the experience of changing them and seeing themselves "on the outside" has really allowed them to be more open and willing to share themselves. Jake Anderson - what an amazing young man. He is almost like a religious leader or something, isn't he? He is so open and so intense at the same time. Josh Harris - how much has he matured over the last couple of years? It was especially interesting to hear him talk about the relationship between himself, Phil and Jake, and how much easier physical tasks were for him than for Jake when they first started fishing. It's funny, because originally when I first started watching DC I got the impression that Josh really wasn't that big into fishing. Keith is just becoming a big old softy, isn't he? To me he seems a man on the cusp of his life - knowing that he needs to slow down and retire and yet so afraid of giving up control and losing everything. I think a lot of men reach this point at about this age, and Keith is no exception. I was surprised at how vulnerable Junior allowed himself to be. With all of his "legend" talk you would think he would not be as willing to show his weaknesses and fears but show them he did. Elliott is an enigma. I think he is the one who has the most to learn about himself at this point, and I'm not sure he ever will. He is learning some harsh lessons now though. Edgar is just wonderful. How open and honest was he about his addiction and about how he is just now getting to know himself? Andy and Johnathan - they are such interesting men...on one hand they are the practical jokers and always laughing, but to see them talk about how serious it is to be in their position, responsible for not only the livelihoods but also the LIVES of the guys that work for him - and Johnathan "I don't want to die on a boat with my son." - Wow! Wild Bill - broke my heart when he talked about the damaged relationship with his children. I hope that changes over the next couple of years too. And Sig...does Sig ever change? Do we even want him to change?

Roxip, I agree with everything you said. Did anyone catch when Keith said calling the USCG for Chris was the first time in his 27 years of fishing that he had to do so? Keith may be a "hard-ass," but he keeps his crew safe (even though Chris was sick and not injured).

Roxip, I agree with all of that! And haven't they all aged tremendously since we first met them? Jonathan doesn't look healthy at all, and he talks about it in a way that maybe he's ill. Wild Bill seems to be learning a bit from his time with his son. Sounded like he had a very mean and distant father and he was falling into the same trap. Glad he and his son are working on their relationship. I got the impression that his other 2 children aren't really in his life. :-( I really couldn't quite grasp what Edgar was getting at. I think he wants to be a Captain, but knows that as a part of the "team" that his role is so important. I think he's struggling with taking over. If I remember right from the last show and from what I've read elsewhere, Edgar will take the helm for the next fishing season. He knows everything there is to know about the Northwestern, but we haven't seen him prove himself out there driving (whatever it's called when you drive a boat). I have always liked Keith but felt I was in a tiny minority. I know how much he takes the safety of his crew to heart. We did see him let Monty take over for a season, so he is probably trying to come to terms with passing the torch. But it's Keith who has all of the investment in the Wizard, so not sure how that will work. He mentioned something about being pulled in too many directions and it sure shows on his face. I hope everything works out for him. I don't think I'll ever tire of this show. What an insight we get into a life that none of us can even imagine.

I think Johnathan has realized his own mortality...starting with Phil's death, and then his injury to his back on the boat this past opie season, and then that crazy stunt on the horse...now if he would just come to Texas and let me take care of him (LOL!). Now that Edgar has been so open about his addiction I wonder if that is the reason he stayed on deck for so many years...not trying himself (or Sig not trusting him) to take on the burden of being in the wheelhouse. Unfortunately it appears the longer the situation went on the less likely it is that Sig will allow himself to be dislodged from the captain's char. He is an admitted control freak! (And I think you are right - I think they "drive" the crab boats.) If I was Edgar and Sig hands over the boat to me I would insist that he stay on shore...LOL!

Tonight we watched the DC After The Catch of the camera men behind the scenes & it was FASCINATING! Extra clips we haven't been privy to see before. Especially interesting was how they tacked a camera to Chris to keep filming as he was airlifted. One of the camera men was a trained EMT, and Keith got into his face while he was trying to help. Later Keith apologized over the ship's loudspeaker because he didn't realize the guy had been trained. Also, interesting was where the camera men were concerned/fearful of being on Elliot's boat. After talking to the crew, just before Elliot's boat owner forced him to stop everything and head to shelter, the camera guys said pph if his own crew thinks he's nuts I don't feel much confidence here either! Great watch folks!
