I enjoyed the show alot. I agree with others about Fantasia . . she is my least favorite of all the winners. I wished they hadn't given so much time to the judges performances, at least Keith sang a duet with an Idol unlike JLo who was all about pushing her new song. So happy Trent won . . I love seeing where they started and the progression until the end of the season and his was fantastic.

I switched back and forth from AI to the Blacklist, so probably missed some of the show. Did Taylor Hicks or Candace Glover sing? Anyone noticed if Keith's family was in the audience? One more question, I know Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar some time ago, what is the doing now? I haven't heard much about her lately, so just wondering.

Yes, Taylor and Candace had a some time highlighted on the show. I was thinking that Taylor was probably pretty happy to get the gig. Taylor looks the same and Candace with sort of dark blond. I did not recognize her until they put her name at the bottom. On Wednesday's show, Daughtry said something about winning the show did not mean that you would be successful. You still had to have the drive and push to be successful. No more truer words were spoken. Jennifer has been acting more. I think she was in a Spike Lee movie last year.

Kookliebird, thanks for the information. I do think you are wrong about Taylor. I heard he was very successful so looked him up. He pulled in 2.5 million last year, tours all over the country and plays a 100 shows annually in Vegas. I always liked Taylor. There were several I didn't recognize too.

So, he plays Vegas more. That's probably why I don't hear about him. I'm not really into the Vegas thing. I have seen him advertised for local indian casinos, but again, not my thing. Phillip Phillips will be in Portland for the zoo concerts in July. I plan to go to that. It's a small venue, but should be fun.

I liked seeing George Huff and Elliott Yamin. My two favorites. Never warmed up to Trent. Of course, didn't really have a chance to warm up to anyone this year.

It was a scattered year, I would start watching it and they would spend so much time o n not singing stuff, I would jsut mentally tune out, never learned all their names and in the end, I jsut stopped watching. The abbreviated format with the judges centered content and the amazing amount of "not show" filler, it was a disrespect to the contestants.

Was it my imagination, or was this season short?

Taylor Hicks (one of my favorite Idols) had a Vegas residency. He has said in interviews (sorry, long time ago, can't remember with whom) that he found that he wasn't really looking for the huge arena-type fame but was happy with a smaller-type career. Another reason to like him in my opinion. Yes, this season was short. The judges eliminated a great deal of the performers early on in the process so the actual voting public was kind of short-changed.

Although he is sometimes mentioned as an example of an "unsuccessful" winner, Taylor works hard, loves his craft and has made an extremely good living so IMO he is anything but unsuccessful. Not a living in the Kelly or Carrie range, of course, but way beyond what he likely would have done without the show.

I would consider Taylor very successful. Sounds like he loves what he is doing, has several homes and seems very happy.

very few people live in Carrie land. Even Kelly pales in comparison. How ever Kelly does better over seas and I would say a number of the idols make a nice living from their kick off from Idol. many of the earlier idols appear in theater regularly (Trenyce is in England for her third or fourth show. for example) the younger ones are doing more youtube, et al, One of the guys eliminated earlier has a youtube channel and is consider a major influence. You can't just make money selling records and touring in arenas anymore unless you are very well known and have constant television invitations. Bo and Adam are touring with old bands as front me, that is how they make good livings. They aren't selling records, that is for sure. Music doesn't sell anymore, it streams. And the gospel and the christian music circuit is a very good living for Idols, I believe George?? from season 3 aid he made about a million a year from recording and touring with gospel shows. (i.e. group tours) And Mandisa is a bigger name than he is.

Kris Allen has also done some Christian stuff and Danny Gokey is a pretty big Christian star these days.

I found an article from May 2015 and at that time the net worth of the top earners was: Carrie Underwood $70 million Kelly Clarkson $28 million Jennifer Hudson $20 million Adam Lambert $12 million Jordin Sparks $10 million Chris Daughtry $8.5 million Clay Aikin and Katherine McPhee tied at $6 million David Cook $5 million. And I'd say the top ones have probably added to those numbers.

Who knows.. another site says Kellie Pickler is worth $5 million and Dolly Parton is worth $500 million. Not that she was on AI but for perspective.

Again, I think this is mostly from US earnings. There are a lot of US Idols making good money over seas. Jasmine is very popular in the Philippines, Elliot Yamin records and tours in Japan.

The source I found mentioned Kelly being the only idol to have a number one in the UK, so it sounded like they were counting there but of course I don't know. But those on that list are certainly doing ok.

I loved the finale also and seeing so many previous contestants. It may not be the show it started out as but I still enjoyed watching it and will miss it. Someone asked up thread what Jennifer Hudson is doing. She's currently on Broadway in The Color Purple. She's gotten very good reviews if I remember correctly. Wouldn't be surprised if she's up for a Tony this year.

According to Forbes, the top earning idol for 2015 was Adam Lambert with $10 million. Carrie (in an off year) was number 2 with $8 million. Daughtry $6 million. Kelly $4 million. All these people are talented and I'm happy to see them doing so well. http://www.forbes.com/sites/zackomalleygreenburg/ 2016/01/06/the-top-earning-american-idols-of-2015/#190d8def4d2b

I think perhaps Carrie and Kelly had to cut back appearances in 2015, cause they both had babies. I always enjoyed this show, especially the past few years (post the Mariah/Nikki horror) when the judges all seemed to get along and were appreciative of talent. I'll miss American Idol. It's been a part of our family for the past 14 years. Thanks for the memories!

And net worth is a different thing, of course. And having a baby has to have a big impact and Kelly is on #2. But they have done really well, with hard work. Watching Kellie Pickler's reality show, besides all the touring she does, she is always making appearances and has a line of home products. Always doing something.

Kellie Pickler does a lot of USO shows too. Not that she gets paid for that, but I bet she has made a lot of new fans. She is such a sweetheart from what I have heard.

That was kind of a fatal blow. I really saw that the other night with the retrospective and could just see how toxic those two were.

if you are interested - weird thing, but someone is inflating the youtube videos of the show, they tend to jump many tens of thousands at time irregularly and have same or similar comments posted about people who are signed under 19. J-Los being the most altered. Ah the manipulations never end.

well 19e is still promoting Sanchez. she will have an album out soon. they tried to make this all her moment and not about the others in the group. that one group was to showcase her. anyway, you have to understand there are companies that sell these services, they also can inflate Twitter followers. I have seen some people jump 50K twitter followers in a few minutes - why have I seen it - it was pointed out to watch by someone in a TV thread - Some TV show was growing followers by the minute. then someone found an advertisement for a company that could "grow" your twitter followers. basically don't trust social media, it is not all it is cracked up to be. a lot of it is paid promotion. Now someone like Beyonce doesn't need it, but others do (cough Kardashian, cough)

You can buy twitter followers.. well I guess what they do is follow you and the idea is you will be flattered and follow them back. I get the most random sudden followers but rarely even check them out, let alone follow them back. Once in a while it will be someone I know or related to someone I follow and I might respond. It is like the spam emails you get.. you are just one address of many that have been sold to someone so they can market to you. Same with phone numbers People sell their database.. sure they do many many calls that get no reponse but they live for those who DO respond and buy or follow or whatever.

no, they just count twitter followers for marketing. Yes, they have fans, look at how many people are following them. hire them for this job and all these followers will be there. George Takei does not have to buy followers but he has a twitter team he pays that finds interesting things for him to tweet and so many people quote him I do believe that are worth what ever he pays them.
