Totally agree, Will, about Jale's empathetic nature; it definitely comes easily to her to soften or deflect the barbs that get thrown at the people she cares about so as to spare the feelings of the intended target - very sweet.

Cricket, the only other UK season I've ever seen was many years ago, the 2007 season, which featured 24 total HMs. The final 5 HMs entered the house on day 59 of the 94 days of the season. BBUK has had other "HMs-entering-midstream" seasons, I just don't know which ones exactly.

The eventual winner, Brian, entered the house on day 17 and is still the only winner to have ever won despite not being in the house from day one. Like Toya, he's of Nigerian descent and is the only winner who is also black, as well as the youngest-ever winner at age 19. He constantly reminded everyone he was from Essex and he loved to drink cider (the alcoholic version of cider, that is).

At one point someone in the house made reference to William Shakespeare and Brian claimed to have no idea who Shakespeare was. (!!!) No one could believe he didn't know history's best-known playwright, but he never supplied an "I was just kidding" admission, so everyone assumed he was telling the truth.

Brian defeated 18-year-old twins Amanda and Samantha (nicknamed Samanda) despite the twins going into the final as the favorites to win. Though they entered the house as individual contestants, they eventually asked to compete as a single team. They hold the record for most number of days being in the house (94) and for also having gone the entire season without receiving a single nomination from any of their fellow HMs.

Sorry for the (painfully) long answer! Here's the source of all these interesting details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Brother_2007_%28UK%29

Just watched the eviction show, my predictions of a week ago came true, however, I'm a bit surprised because Toya had almost retreated in the back and thought the public forgot about her but I guess the Brits are not what I liked to expect from them, since I learned that they like to keep controversial ones in the house and that it was time for a guy to go. I guess, they're just like other countries who want to evict troublemakers. Well, if it's not the public it will be Big Brother to decide a guy must go next and this is why the girl power.
I wanted Toya to stay a bit longer and Danielle to go, but I guess that's the way things go.
Just hope Ash is not going next since I think Marlon is to me less interesting than him.
Without Toya, Ashleigh and Danielle may have to attach to Jale or Kimberly.

I just wonder, do you think UK Tv bleeps out all the f words we hear on the online show? I can't believe you would actually hear all that foul language on tv...

Brian (2007) didn't enter on launch night because NONE of the guys entered the house on launch night. Brian was not an intruder, he was still one of the original male housemates that season

Spunky, after a certain time (10pm I think) I don't think much of anything is off limits. What you see online has been aired in tact (no bleeps) on TV. I've heard the f word, the c word - I heard a bleep one time & I thought oh my goodness, what word could it be? but I think it was just due to the time slot.

"I have to duplicate everything from last week so that I don't jinx my chance to stay in the house."

Uncle Ricky, that makes sense. I thought Danielle had the same dress under her robe as last week. I get not wanting to jinx yourself, but sheesh, does she realize how ridiculous she looks?

I truly hope someone is honest with her about the fake eyelashes. She's much better looking when she's just being casual.

Thanks for the info on housemates entering mid-show. I think it keeps these guys on their toes and doesn't let them get so comfortable as our U.S. peeps do.

Kitt, thank you so much for the TV schedule.

Thanks for the schedule Kitt.

I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed Toya is out, I don't think she did anything really bad, she is a strong woman who speaks her mind, I don't see anything wrong with that. But, like other's mentioned, Toya was ready to go, so I guess it's good, for her sake, she's out. Still, it's disappointing. She did a nice interview with Emma and Rylan, though, even through the boos, or booze, as it were.

I wanted Ash to leave, not bc of his friendship with Helen, but bc of his own attitude, his whining about being nominated, both times, plus his lashing out at Matt, when Matt was arguing with Helen. I was surprised that the crowd cheered Winston, I guess if they like watching paint dry, okay, I get it. I'd love to see him cook, or better yet, teach someone to cook. Isn't he a chef? Marlon still being there is disturbing, the way he speaks about women is not a slip of the tongue, it seems that is who he is, like he thinks women are less than. I would have been ok had Danielle went, I keep wondering if she's acting, especially when she tried smoking, it didnt seem real.

I think Helen will take over the girl power decisions and that will be that. I think the only woman who stood up to Helen was Toya, I don't think anyone else can, or even can be bothered, as Helen is such a drain on emotions. I hope not, but, I guess we'll see. But then again, maybe another twist will be one of the women goes up too, if that happens, I hope it's Helen.

Stormie, another possibility is if BB makes next week Boy Power and all the women go up, including Helen. That would work for me.

I think there's a good chance Mark could win, that eyebrow thing was hilarious, and he's a good mixture of kind hearted but spirited. He just has to be careful he doesn't go too far with the bad comments.

Yep, "thick" means stupid. I don't really understand why Winston got the big cheers either, he's not as offensive as Ash or Marlon, but he says his fair share of stupid comments and doesn't really say much that's good. I wasn't sure if the cheering for Winston was an attempt by the audience to make sure the contrast between the "bad" people and the others was clearer. I was surprised though.

I loved Brian! That was one of the best years of BBUK, perhaps the last really good year.

Spunky, UK tv allows a lot more language and nudity, but the time of day it airs is restricted on network tv. Pretty much PG-13 before 8pm, mild swearing (which includes certain strong swear words in certain contexts (e.g. you can say the f word as a swear word, but not f_ing as a description of sex)) and non-sexual nudity from 8pm and "the watershed" is 9pm, after which there's kind of a sliding scale with time leading to anything goes (except porn of course). Cable channels I think it's anything at any time, depending on the nature of the channel.

Stormie, on Danielle's twitter she spoke about giving up smoking and smoking again, so the whole "first cigarette thing" was a complete act.

Today's show: interesting reveal by Jale, she said she wants to save the men who are at risk but that she'd have the best time with. She listed Steven, Marlon, Winston, Ash. That only leaves Chris, Christopher, Mark and Matthew (I think) that she'd want to put up... I hope she realises that if you save those most at risk then the ones you do put up, however popular, become the ones at risk.

I could feel the tension between Ashleigh and Helen all the way over here in California during the first pow-wow the women had. I'm really impressed with how Ashleigh maintains an even keel (Kimberly seems to have the same calmness about her). I wonder if either will snap at some point. I really can't picture them raising their voices!

I loved Marlon squirting half the bottle of that lotion all over himself and admitting being addicted to the mirror - you don't hear that every day.

And speaking of Marlon, if any of you are watching the current season of Last Comic Standing on NBC, I'm sure you'll agree that one of the ten finalists on that show (Monroe) was separated at birth from Marlon:

Maybe letting "always nominated" Jale off of the nominated list this week will allow them to break Helen's "finalist" status to be dropped next week if all the ladies go up! I would like to see what the UK voters would do with her up!

Strategically, it makes much more sense to pit the popular players against each other than to nominate the easy outs. I don't know if they can think strategically as a group when they are so fractured & will probably just vote the ones that are least aligned.

They've had so many people up for eviction lately it wouldn't surprise me if BB intends to have ALL the males up for eviction by the end of the week, and just want to watch the friction that's caused by having to get the females to put them in order.

I don't understand this girl power, is it to save some of the nominated guys, and how many do they have to save? Why didn't they just let all of the guys on the block and have the public decide, in the end this is going to hurt the women more than the guys by creating a wider break among the women. All Ashleigh can do is cry? Can't she try to play along with the women and for now, she's not in any danger, she should just lay back and relax... geesh!

Spunky, putting all the guys up is a great idea.

I felt Kim and Jale showed their true colors on Saturday's show when talking about whom they wanted to save. Sounds like the guys who should be up are going be saved by Kim, Jale and Helen. That's just wrong.

I want to see Stephen up. I'd love to see him go. Ash & Marlon need to be up as well, but nope, watch those three put up Chris, Christopher, Mark and Matthew.

Kim seems to be acting her way through this show and I'm so disappointed in Jale. Ashleigh and Danielle have always been nice to her when others weren't, but all of a sudden Jale is with the kool kids? I don't think so. Not attractive at all.

Oh drat... I was counting on Marlon to leave on Friday and he won't even be on the block? Well, I guess it's just a matter of time. I like Mark and Christopher and Matthew for his deep voice, Big Brother needs his voice... the voice that keeps reminding the time of day and summary is grating on my nerves..

I miss Aussie sexy BB's voice and his interaction with the housemates.

Because of the crowd reactions, they correctly think that Ash, Marlon, and Stephen are the most likely to go and so are planning on saving one of them.

Jale, Helen and Kim each have one of those 3 that they are close to and want to save, while Ashleigh and Danielle want all 3 of them gone. So of course they will never agree on anything.

This is exactly what BB wants. Just putting up all the guys would be too easy on everyone and wouldn't give the girls any "power" to exercise.

Wow, caught half of today's show and I can't believe Kim and Stephen. For two people who should be the most financially stable, they both seem extremely afraid of being put on the block and getting voted out.

I can't tell if they need the money or just want fame out of this show. Either way, it's disgusting. Both sneaky people. I did like Kim, but it's become so obvious she is not very open or honest as to what she really wants from this 'game.'

I can't believe Stephen, at 23, is a millionaire. He's freaking about being put up.

SPOILER:
Stephen, Marlon & Chris have been saved by the girls.

I guess Kim beat out Helen so Ash will most likely go home. I can't wait for Stephen to be on the block and then get booted.

They have effectively secured Ash's eviction, but I don't know if they realise that. I presume they assume Christopher and Winston are safe because of the crowd reaction on Friday. I think they assume Mark is safe. That leaves just Ash and Matthew...

Do they think Matthew is safe or have they purposely forced a kind of vote on pro-Helen Ash vs anti-Helen Matthew, and aren't sure which way the vote will go?

I'm sure it's Ash going on Friday only because of his closeness with Helen and it seems the public is tired of Helen and so by taking him away from her he loses but also she'll be left without a defender and so the public seems okay with that.

I can't really find one I really like to cheer on, I like Mark a bit unless he goes nuts with emotions later on. I don't mind Christopher either, I still have to observe Chris without Toya but it seems he hasn't had too much air time lately for me to see if he still taking the side of Danielle and Ashleigh (these two are a pair!).

Chris is still my favourite, but I like Christopher, Jale and Mark a lot too. Matthew sometimes but not others.

I think what is very interesting about this cast is because most of them are reasonably bright they are more multi-faceted than a lot of the past hms we've had. They have human flaws, and some of them have a lot of human flaws, but most of them are able to take a step back from that and realise what they've done, even if they then can't stop themselves doing it again.

Also some of them, like Jale and Kim, are trying to gently help others deal with problems, which I've not sure we've see for a while, usually the offender is ignored so that the other person doesn't pick up their bad smell.

I think the only one I don't like is Ashleigh, but given her age I'm sure she might behave better with time. At the moment she just seems like a b____ who's manipulating Danielle (not that Danielle is innocent). I agree Helen is the worst person there in terms of behaviour, but she's so clearly totally broken that I find it hard not to give her some sort of pass. I don't want to see her on my BB but in real life I think she could be "treated," if that's the word, I don't think she's as nasty (in simple terms) a person as Ashleigh is right now. (Of course Ashleigh is very mild compared to past hms we've had, I'm just talking in relative terms.)

I also kind of like Ash. He takes Helen for what she is, protects her like a friend while still understanding that she does bad things. He needs to watch his mouth and think before he says things but that's more culture than character.

I'm confused. Watching today's show and there is yet another task for the guys to decide who to save. I thought they saved them yesterday. Ignore my post above, I guess.
