RN Excellent about your niece being a reader! That's great.

Here near KC we have a pretty good supply of June bugs this year. I dump a zillion of them out of the pool skimmer every day. This week they have gotten pretty bad.

RN besides the june bugs, the spiders are bad too, I'm spraying regularly for black widows. On the plus side, I haven't seen all that many mosquitoes. I've only been bitten twice this week and usually I'm a mosquito magnet.

RN the June bugs are late.

We have wasps here. One even got inside the other day but it was trying to get out at the slider screen so I opened that and shut the glass door and it found its way to freedom.

RN with 2 dogs wanting in and out of the house all day, I get all kinds of flying pests in the house from opening the door so many times. It's one of the reasons I stopped using the coach light mounted next to the back door at night. Now I use string lights hanging in the rafters of the deck roof. That way the flying bugs aren't hanging out at the back door ready to swoop into the house.

RN, people around my neighborhood are still setting off those loud booming fireworks almost 3-4 times daily. They do this even though it's illegal here. My poor dogs come running to me and I tell them "it's okay, it's only a Boom Boom". They seems to feel safe after I say that to them while petting them with reassurances. Poor little things.

I hate those people and secretly wish they would harm their fingers when they do it!

RN, just thought it was funny that a whole discussion has been on Nextdoor in my neighborhoods. Someone wanted to know "what is this bug", LMAO.. it's a June bug. They thought maybe they needed to call the exterminator.

Many people let them know that June bugs are a temporary problem, LOL.

Agree with Pamy, Egbok!

RN Our Nextdoor went wacky about fireworks, pro and con.

and no Junebug thread but there is a thread forbugs that some say are ladybug nymphs and others claim are ladybug assassins, while others say they are milkweed bugs.

Of course the right type of milkweed attracts monarch butterflies.

And a big thread about dog poop.

Apparently people bag the poop but leave it along the way instead of dumping it in the trash.

RN, Pamy, so glad you said that about secretly wishing those fireworks people would hurt their fingers/hands. I also secretly wish that but then I feel bad for wishing it...lol.

RN, we had a June Bug fly into our house tonight. It was flying around in "cra-cra" mode and bumping into everything including us. I finally shut all the lights off and opened the door with the outside light turned on and the Cra-Cra June Bug followed the light, lol!!

RN Oddly, after I read Eggie's post about the booms still happening there were three loud booms here. And we hadn't been hearing any this week.

So, I figure I will see a June Bug real soon...

RN, I had dinner last night at Rock Bottom Brewery in Long Beach, CA. I hadn't eaten there since having dinner with many TVCH members many years ago for a Meet Up in Long Beach. It was strange how the memories came flooding back about that fun TVCH dinner Meet Up!

RN a local (the next town over from where I live) police officer was killed in the line of duty (as well as an elderly women) But I felt it on my heart to do something for the police in my city, so yesterday I brought them a box of Joe and some donuts to show my appreciation to them

Dfennessey, that was very sweet of you. I bet they don't get appreciation shown to them often, so it meant a lot.

RN in the first few seconds of this video there is a cockatiel that looks just like mine playing with a mini case of coca-cola. It's so cute. I just found it online at eBay and ordered my bird one.
