LOL Seamonkey, I was just talking to a friend and we thought it was feeling more cold lately.

Today ... Skies are bright, but cloudy/foggy and gray. A very slight breeze with temps going to 58.

North of Portland is getting hit with snow and blizzard conditions. The Cascade range is in blizzard conditions. Many of the major passes are closed in Washington State. Portland is borderline right now. Everything above 500 ft has snow. Portland (~150 ft) is expected to have a major snow event Friday and Saturday. So… snow and people going nuts here in our future ….

A wonderful wintery rainy day!! Even tho temps are low it doesn't seem cold because of the low clouds. The ski is bright, white and foggy.

It's raining now, not too hard but enough that will be good for the plants.

There has been an avalanche at Palasades Tahoe

Officials were searching for people injured or trapped by an avalanche at Palisades Tahoe Wednesday morning that prompted the closure of the popular ski resort.

The avalanche occurred about 9:30 a.m. on the Palisades side of the Lake Tahoe resort, the ski resort said on X, formerly called Twitter. "Our patrol and mountain operations teams are performing a search at this time. Both sides of our mountain will be closed for the day," they said.

Storms are hammering much of the northern U.S., a welcome relief for some parts of the country that have received little or no snow in recent months.

A second Avalanche occurred at Palisades Tahoe yesterday, there was no one in the area where it happened.

Continuing Avalanche patrols are happening and the resort is open.

30F tonight for a low and 25F tomorrow night. I bought an electric blanket for the two feral cats who already have a protected shelter in a corner of our covered patio. It’s made for rabbit hutches so small and water proof.

16 degrees in Portland with East Wind gusts of around 40mph. Trees down, roads treacherous. Good day to stay inside.

Nice Mack. They bought a heated dog house and are trying different things to heat the structures where they all gather in the cold.

-7 here last night. And no power from 8 pm to 11 pm.... it was COOOLLLDDD.

Gotta love having a rural power authority tho. I messaged them on Facebook when it went out and asked if I should consider finding a friend to stay with. A real live person messaged me back and said it would be about 3 hours, and updated me every hour.

🚨🌋There’s a good chance that the fifth eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula may begin again soon. Maybe not, but maybe—you know how it goes.

Hopefully this eruption once again erupts *outside* of Grindavík—but there’s always a chance lava could pour up right into the town. :-(

#Grindavík is to be evacuated again, from Monday at 7pm
