RN My brother was just transported by ambulance 75 miles to Queens Long Island Jewish hospital because he went to the emergency room because something was wrong with his eye. Turns out he has a detached retina and that's the only hospital in his network with an opthomoligist on call. Don't know yet if they are going to operate tonight or tomorrow or if at all.

And my Christmas tree is still out on the deck from when I banned it from the house the other night.

And I could go on. Can't wait for this year to be over and done with.

RN Grooch, that's awful about your brother! I hope he will be ok. I'm 100% blind in one eye and it stinks, so I know how serious this is.

And why did you ban your Christmas Tree? Was it naughty?

So sorry to hear about your brother's eye. Wayne has has had detached retinas in both eyes. If caught soon enough, it can be fixed but recovery takes a long time.

I’ve known people with detached retinas, they seem to do really well with surgery. But, they can’t drive or lift anything over a certain weight for awhile. Hopefully, 2024 will be much better for you.

I had surgery to re-atttach the retina in my right eye and was driving the next day. The retina detahed again years later and that surgery was not successful - I have very limited vision in tha eye.

Hugs to Grooch although I have to say that the Christmas tree banned to the deck still makes me giggle. But seriously, hope it goes easily for your brother and his eye heals quickly.

RN, I think if you go to the emergency room and get diagnosed with a detached retina, you DO want to go by ambulance or whatever other means is available to a medical facility that has a specialist on duty, even it if turns out it is something that can wait a day or so. You WANT to do that just in case it can't.

RN, Merry Christmas everyone!

I am enjoying binge watching Holiday Baking Championship. My husband was offered a ticket to the Chiefs game so he is at the stadium. Going to one of my sisters for a late dinner this evening. Her husband and son are also at the game.
I must say that going back to work has really interfered with my book reading, tv watching and doing whatever I want when I want life.

RN what I am wondering is how the possible oven wars with Naja and the NTB's brisket are going? I think Ms. Sonic was not in attendance so not sure if a 3rd party wanted/needed some oven or cooking time.

Will all the doggy daycare + Naja pups attack the brisket like the neighborhood dogs got the turkey in A Christmas Story ?

I am sure Naja will let us know all about it..she obviously has a lot on her plate today, not just brisket.

Grooch I hope your brother's retina will be ok.

RN What a few days! First, Yoshi recovered perfectly and his mom reimbursed me the vet money when she picked him up. I thought she'd be angry, but she was just happy he was healthy.

Then there was such a big brawl between old man Buddy and little Willow that MsSonic had to separate them with a garbage can lid. Luckily no blood. This was before Yoshi left actually. Yoshi made ALL the dogs nervous. None of them liked him. After he left, everyone is happy and calm.

I sent the dog parents some holiday photos since they aren't with their babies on Christmas.

AND it's after 2 pm and the brisket is still cooking and NTB has claimed MY sofa for the day by bringing out her big blanket and plopping there. She slept there last night and is still there. Getting up only to check the brisket.

But things are nice and calm and going fine.

Merry Christmas everyone!

The puppy pictures are sweet and I imagine appreciated by the pet owners.

Is it too far into NTB's tenancy to institute or remind that the sofa is not her bed and no sleeping there?

Hope the brisket is tasty. My husband is a Master BBQ Judge, when I asked him how long a brisket should cook in the oven, he said never, lol. Brisket belongs in a smoker I believe.

A 16# brisket should cook about 14 to 16bhours in a slow oven. Willpossible by ready for dinner! Fortunately left-over brisket is very tasty!!

RN HAHA! It's end of Feb. I may not enforce it if she can keep cool until then and keep paying on time. She's doing pretty well.

RN No, but it probably should be. It was tough as heck!

You won't believe this. About 45 mins ago in the middle of us cutting up the rest of the brisket to store, NTB told me she'll be done with her assignment in Missouri at the end of March, and has decided to go to another state. Now if this is a way to weasel another month out of me or what, I don't know. But I told her I will put my room ads back up with the available date as April 1. And that's it. No turning back.

Wow. This moving around by NTB does make me wonder just what she is up to, but I am sure it will be a relief when she is off to another location.

RN I am peeved!

Late last week we had a no PTO in January email. Annoying. I've been off from 12/21/23 to 12/28/23. Found out today that they are requiring mandatory overtime of 2 hours a day plus Saturdays for January beginning 1/2/24. What the holy heck?!?! That means we get cheated out of our holiday time that week and if we work extra I doubt they plan on paying time and half over the normal 32 hours of that week. Their poop poor management and inability to plan are not my problem. Not sure I'm willing to put up with rush crap. I am already underpaid for what I do. I assure you the job that I do is far more complex than it was described to me before I accepted.
I am one member of a team of two. We are the final step of the process which is often rather complex. We are supposedly losing the system that is vital to what we do and transitioning to a new one that only has 1 access point and we have not been trained. Nor does it appear to fit our needs but as there us a lack of training and information...

What a cluster!!!
